Agave Del Scottsdale
Our server Tianna was and is always great! Hector, the manager wonderful and chief Sophia delivers outstanding dishes with perfect presentation
It was our first visit to Agave and we had a delicious meal. Yes, its $$$ and definitely not your standard tex mex. I had corn masa cakes and shrimp and my hubby had the salmon. Agave reminds us of one of our favorite places where we used to live in California. We want to go back for happy hour soon. Delicious!
Great food. Authentic. Great service. Great cocktails. Lovely patio and bar. This was my third visit and it has rapidly become a favorite
This is a great new Mexican food restaurant. We sat on the patio which is nicely put together. There was live music which was fabulous. The service was good, drinks were good - the specialty margarita with cilantro is delicious. All four dishes were very good. The chilean seabass with a green sauce was outstanding. The green mole was wonderful, but the pork with it was a bit overcooked. The salmon dish looked great and the enchiladas suisa were yummy.
I always enjoy going here for lunch. Great atmosphere and wonderful food; especially the queso fundido
We've been to Agave a few times and enjoy it very much. My wife had a beautiful piece of Chilean sea bass and I had one of the steaks. Steak is steak and fish is fish, but when they are cooked in an authentic regional Mexican style you get a meal that is both good and also different from the usual neighborhood Mexican food. It's not cheap, so it likely won't be a place to diner frequently, but I did notice they now had some tacos on the menu. One criticism, I did not enjoy being distracted by a large TV showing MMA.
Flavorful authentic Mexican food without dripping in cheese. Can actually savor the flavors. Highly recommend the chicken enchiladas mole with the rich chocolate underlying notes.
The margaritas were amazing! The food was overpriced for what it was. The presentation of the food was better than the taste. Would definitely go back for drinks & chips and salsa. The service was great and the staff was friendly.
Nicely renovated, great food.
Service was slow, maybe they were understaffed?
There was live music but way too loud to carry on a conversation with person beside you much less across the table.
Very beautiful restaurant. Unfortunately, when I think of traditional Mexican food, nothing on their menu hits my wheelhouse. $38 fish entrees and $15 drinks are way out of whack as compared to the other Mexican restaurants in the area. Dinner for three with a few drinks came to almost $300. Kind of like dinner at Mastro's or Mowry and Cotton without the people watching.
Much better Mexican food at Manuel's, a few blocks away, for a fraction of the price.
Suggestion to the restaurant, either re-brand what type of restaurant you are with a high emphasis on what to expect pricewise or convert to a Mexican restaurant.
Such a blessing to have a great Mexican restaurant in town. The ceviche and sangria-outstanding!!!! Can't wait to go back.
Great atmosphere & service. Food was good, but not justified by the higher price. Pricier than Sol at Scottsdale quarter, but not anywhere as good.
Excellent service and food. We even had one of our servers from a few weeks ago remember us and ask how we were doing. There were several people who asked if we needed anything, very attentive. The food has been consistently delicious.
Nice ambience but road noise at outside seating is distracting. Nice place, though, and will go back.
The best service super friendly and professional the food was amazing the place its very clean and they really made me feel welcomed I will definitely be coming back best Mexican food I’ve had in a long while
Service was super slow and the food was just ok. Some of the entrees were $35+. With those prices and $ 14 cocktails you expect good service. It took forever and then they brought the salad and the entrees out at the same time. Won't be back
I was so excited to try this place as I watched it get built out and it seemed like it took forever. The atmosphere is all right, but the chairs are really uncomfortable (that was my first impression) and wanted to leave as soon as we sat down. The menu is really strange and it’s pretty expensive for what it is (not fine dining). Service was great so no complaints there. Will not be going back though. Very disappointed.
We were there for a ladies' business meal and had a wonderful time! The service by Fernando was excellent and the food was amazing! We will definitely be back soon!
First time here. Loved this place. The decor is unique and wonderful. Service was great with a a very hospitable server. I had the ceviche with all the seafood. One of Best I have ever had. Will definitely come back
Salsa not great. Liked bean dip. Guacamole excellent. Kids meal terrible. Told waiter didn't remove charge. My meal was just okay ( carne mestiso) basically a steakem with cheese inside. Not worth $30. Wife had shrimp stuffed peppers. Was not great. Shrimp kind of tough and fishy. Probably wont go back.
Met a friend I had not seen in over 10 years for a meal tonight. She would deceive herself as a “Mole Snob” and Agave did not disappoint! Outstanding meal and service. New fave!
Enchiladas was a plain bla flavor with a high price... I was expecting a better flan.. The filet mignon wasn't anything special but the price was high on that... Margheritas were very good.. Appertizers were very good!! And service was outstanding!!!
Third visit to Agave Del Scottsdale - it gets better every time. With the exception of the bartender disappearing frequently while we sat at the bar before dinner, service was incredibly informed and attentive.
We shared the guacamole along with the three dips automatically brought out with chips (which were fresh and good) and nothing needed any salt (pet peeve). Friends each had the shrimp entree and I enjoyed the ceviche del mar - similar to the shrimp cocktail found in Mexico but loaded with all kinds of seafood and absolutely delicious. Worked as an entree for me. My friends both loved the shrimp.
The tequila selection is not expansive but well selected and the prices are very fair. The presentation is excellent, offered with sangrita when ordered "derecha" (sounds so much better than as a shot, especially since it is meant to be sipped), which you don't see here much, if at all. Tried a few new ones, but favored the Fortaleza Reposado and the Maestro Doble Anejo.
No desserts - no room - but we will be back again.
Everything was great, but the restaurant ambiance was cold! The decor could be more appropriate for a Fine Mexican Restaurant.
Very, very average. We could tell chef was trying to be creative which is great, but food was so average. Way overpriced. Lighting inside was way too bright. Servers stared putting chairs up on tables before customers left. We want to support a new local business, but we are unlikely to return.
Delicious! Everything was fantastic and full of flavor. Service was great too. Highly recommend for a nice upscale dinner.
Our waitress was amazing. She was friendly and informative. We had a very pleasant experience!
First time here and we’ll be back. Our waiter, Christian, was excellent. He explained the restaurant concept and menu items thoroughly. Authentic Mexican dishes. Nice bar and patio.
It was a very good experience. I was glad to see signs up on the building. The only thing that surprised me was a nice restaurant like this not having orange liqueur to make a Cadillac Margarita on a Saturday night dinner service.
Expensive for very good authentic Mexican food.
The food was great the atmosphere is great!! Our server was less than attentive but I would still go back. Highly recommend the margaritas!
The service was great, so wanted to start with that but the food was just alright and a bit expensive for food that was just alright. Pretty bland for Mexican and had I not had a roasted pepper with my enchiladas del mar - would have been completely bland As others have stated in reviews, the drinks are small and for there size - expensive
Really great fresh Mexican cuisine! So nice to have a new option in town! We will definitely be back!
Our server was fantastic. Very interesting margaritas, especially the spicy cucumber. The shrimp and cilantro cerveci and mole enchiladas were really good. Great ambiance. Will be back.
Was a great lunch experience from the chips and salsas to the trace laches cake what a treat! We shared the seafood ceviche! Wow! My wife had toco’s and I had the Tuna burrito fantastic!
Finished off with trace laches cake!
Service was great our waitress Sienna was great! We got talking about Mole and the waiter brought over a sample... to die for!
Can’t wait to come back for dinner! We are local year round residents of Scottsdale we think we have found a jewel!
This restaurant is in the neighborhood so we wanted to try it out. It is billed as upscale Mexican. It's nice, but a bit noisy. We had them re-seat us from the back area seating near the bar to the front dining area. If we hadn't, we would never have been able to talk to each other. The staff are friendly and helpful. They have an impressive Tequila menu and a few good Mescals. The drinks were pricey, in line with the "upscale" label and well-made, but they were also mostly ice. Since this was "upscale" we skipped the enchiladas and went to the fish menu. Our dinners were well-prepared, nicely presented, and tasty. But the pricing is aggressive. We spent $170 for two people ... entrees, one drink each and a bottle of good, not great wine (and tip). Would I recommend it to a friend? Go for the Tequila flights and starters. But there are quite a few Mexican restaurants with good food and more reasonable prices. We enjoyed our dinner but probably wont go back anytime soon.
Great!! Service very welcoming and food was lucious. The Enchilada Del Mar was yummy!!
Bummer that happy hour is only at the bar. Even with advertisement of happy hour in whole restaurant on opentable, it was not honored.
Not kid friendly, no changing table.
Tuna cheviche was good. I liked that the spicy sauce was on the side so you could add as much or as little as you wanted.
Was not a fan on the trio enchiladas Del Mar. menu stated lobster, crab and shrimp. I didn’t realize it was three mixed enchiladas instead of one each.
Margaritas were good, nothing special.
Entrees seem very overpriced.
Two out of our three entrees (fish and pork) were over-cooked to the point of being inedible. The chicken mole was good though. Our waiter ended up spending so much time walking another table through the menu that he never came to check on us. We flagged down someone else to replace one of the over-cooked meals but the replacement arrived too late and had to be taken to-go.
Lovely ambiance Beautiful presentation of food. Had the chicken mole--outstanding mole the only complaint is that the chicken was somewhat overcooked, however it did not deter from the delicious sauce
