With a passion for family and food the Lujan sisters came together to open Agave Azul Kitchen & Tequila Bar in 2012. Their goal was to bring together a gathering of authentic Mexican home cooking that stuck to their roots. Their family originated from Zacatecas, Mexico and then came to Hughson, California to begin farming. With this heritage came recipes passed down from generation to generation. Food was the center of their life and growing up on a local farm allowed their family to cook at home with food grown on their land. Sandra and Gabby originally had the thought of opening Taqueria El Agave, but it quickly transformed into a full kitchen serving some of their favorite dishes such as pollo con crema y rajas. The unique thing about Agave Azul is their attention and focus to the quality of each of the ingredients that goes into their recipes and their commitment to never sacrificing on quality home grown ingredients.

The drinks were fantastic. The food, was ok. We went to celebrate my son’s birthday and his steak was super salty. We informed the waiter. He was brought a new steak, and although it was not was salty it was very salty to eat. The party of 8 all had a piece of steak since my son said it was still salty. After we all had a piece we concurred it was still way too salty to enjoy. Although the ambiance and alcohol were great, I can’t justify the amount I spend on ok food at best.

I love getting their steak bowl. We went recently to celebrate my moms birthday and it’s a good amount of food to choose from. Would go back again!

I have been there quite a few times and service has been good, how ever today was crapie never came by to ask if needed a thing but once, it was mothers day so they were busy but that place is always busy, I will go back every place has a bad day, how ever if go back and the service sucks twice, I wont go back for a long time.

I have been here many times and definitely was a let down this last time . We had a bigger party then usual I will say that but that doesn’t give them no right to treat us any different then any others and the service was not good at all like if they didn’t communicate with each other or want to be working. This used to be my favorite go-to restaurant for many years but wouldn’t recommend seems to be run down..

Had a wonderful dinner to celebrate my cousin’s birthday. Chile relleno with green sauce was delicious and carnita taco was very good too. We sat outside and weather was great and our server was very nice.

This is a hard one to write because the food is Amazing. The Drink List is Amazing. The service is terrible. I have been going to this spot since it opened and the food has always been stellar. We went in to celebrate a couple birthdays and the food was great service not so much. We ordered the drinks that took a really long time and the two birthday people didn’t even get their drinks we had to ask a few times eventually they showed up. I ordered an app as my dinner it came before anyone else’s food and before the drinks made the table. They ran out of one item ordered and told us, as they were dropping off all the rest of the food. Unfortunately I’m a glutton for punishment and the food quality is worth going back it’s just a bummer that the service isn’t better.
