The Agate Alley Bistro, in Eugene, is a comfortable eatery with an easy-going and eclectic atmosphere. Recipes are creative and prepared using an assortment of seasonal and locally sourced ingredients.
Brunch, lunch and dinner menus are available at the Agate Alley Bistro. Early risers can enjoy a garden omelet or country fried steak, as well as an assortment of eggs Benedict dishes. Entrée favorites later on in the day consist of item such as Nate's a jerk chicken, Yumi's gravlax grilled cheese and other creative sandwiches. Agate Alley Bistro also offers cocktails and wine, along with microbrews and specialty cocktails.
We had an amazing time at Agate Alley. We chose it based on reviews on Open Table and we were not disappointed. I also chose it because of the diversity of the menu - smaller plates, larger plates, great sandwiches and yummy looking pizza - it has something for everyone. The service was fantastic and just right, with just enough service to make us feel taken care of but not too much that we felt overwhelmed by it. They made great suggestions about food and beer. All of us really enjoyed our meals. While we don't live in Eugene and won't go there often, Agate Alley will be our go-to restaurant when we head to Eugene to visit family.
The day it snowed in Eugene I thought it would be hard to find a place to dine. Agate Alley Bistro was able to accommodate me and my party with no problem. Our server was very friendly and helpful. Despite the restaurant being full, the food came out in a timely manner and was very delicious! I definitely recommend coming here!
Agate Alley's two locations, the Bistro and The Laboratory, are my favorite places to meet up with friends after work for a drink and good food. And they also are my favorites for family dinners out or business lunches. I love the menu, and the wait staff is wonderful. Nobody makes a better Bourbon Renewal. The best!
We had a reservation for six but eventually had almost twice that many for dinner. They were so nice about it. They put us outside. They food came quickly. They kept track of separate checks. We were happy and impressed.
We had an out of town guest that we took to different restaurants during their stay, to get a feel for Eugene. This was our choice on a Friday night and it did not disappoint. Our party had a variety of dinner items from beet salad to the steak special. All were great and service was friendly and efficient. The place was busy, but noise level was low enough you could have an easy conversation over wine and dinner. We recommend as a nice place to have a casual meal in a comfortable surrounding.
Food was outstanding, and so was our service.
AAB is really a neighborhood with excellent unique food at neighborhood prices. Very good house wine choices. And of course you can't beat the local Eugene brewed beer.
We made dinner reservations online for 6pm, but were seated in the bar which was quite noisy. Our out-of-town guests popped into the seats, so I was reticent to make a stink and ask to be seated in the dining area. Maybe the restaurant has a policy to not seat in the dining room until the bar is full???? By the time we left, the dining room was filling up. It would have been a much nicer place to visit with our guests. I asked for the check and we headed elsewhere for dessert. Maybe better for lunch rather than dinner.
We know Agate Alley well, so came here for Mothers Day brunch. Food was good as always, staff was pleasant, and also very apologetic for how busy they were. But, they were overwhelmed with Mothers Day. Come here some other time and enjoy a wonderful meal.
We were seated on time. The server took a while to greet us, but it was Mother's Day and the place was packed. The food came out to us in a timely manner, was attractive and hot. We were not rushed. I thought the tables were a bit crowded together and there was not much privacy. But overall...we will come back and try it again. Thank you
Our first visit to Agate Alley Bistro after visiting their counterpart, the "Laboratory" a few weeks ago. Casual, comfortable decor, with both indoor and outdoor dining. Great menu choices, many offered with chef's local twist, worth a look in itself. Food was very good, excellent taste, nice portion sizes, enough to fill up on the entree so no room for dessert. Here for lunch today, definitely will be back, would like to try the dinner offerings. Drink list with wine, beer, and non-alcoholic choices complements the menu. Service was very good. Only small complaint. We sat in a former outdoor area now enclosed in glass, an area with a few tables, another diner with a rather loud laugh often made it difficult to hear your table mate.
Wanting a dinner that had a Pacific NW twist, we found Agate Alley to be surprisingly inventive in its menu. With entrees like pumpkin enchiladas and butternut crab cakes, beautifully prepared and plated, we knew a highly-skilled chef was lurking in the kitchen. The service was excellent too - our waiter seemed to have flown out from a top Manhattan restaurant for the night.
Took way too long to get food and it was coldish when we got it. Food was nothing special for the price. Drinks were good but i wouldnt go back. Shouldnt have to wait 50 min for food anywhere in eugene especially since it wasnt that busy. Sad, i had high hopes for the bistro. Also, are those potatoes you use frozen? Or do you have a machine that cuts them all into identical pieces?
Excellent menu well prepared and not expensive. We always order the Mushroom pizza with our drinks.Great! We are working our way through the sandwich and entree menus and have yet to order a dud. The food is almost all from local farms and well prepared. We go early before it gets busy and get excellent service.
Our service and food were great! However, the portion size and lack of sides included with the meal for the price was very disappointing.
Overall, we really like the atmosphere and service.
They could use a little more imagination with their hamburgers. A little on the dry side. There are a million hamburgers out there. If you're going to offer one, it should be in the outstanding category or take it off the menu. French fries are great. Didn't care for the caramelized onion in the Mac & Cheese. It would be much better without it, in my opinion. The ride and pickup for the basketball games is a neat service, which we appreciate.
We enjoyed a great meal with a delightful server before a UO basketball game. And it was especially nice, as it was my birthday. Following the meal we were able to ride the Agate Alley shuttle directly to the front door of Matt Knight Arena for the ball game. It was a fun, delicious and easy way to enjoy the meal, the birthday and the ball game.
could be a great little place to go too...they need to play a little more attention too the food
