AG, Modern Bar and Steakhouse Ratings and Reviews
My date and I celebrated her birthday on New Year's Eve eve at AG with Michael and Sefik pampering us and providing a memorable evening. We had a prime booth with an open view of most of the restaurant. My strip was perfectly cooked and made more delectable with the wine sauce. My date's filet was slightly overcooked - although she requested well done, of which makes me cringe - but still with great flavors. We can't express enough how Michael and Sefik made us feel like the only patrons in the place. Sefik certainly earns kudos for the special attention he gave us in our celebration of my date's 50th!
As a resident of Reynolds at Lake Oconee I frequent the Ritz and Linger Longer Steak House. While I enjoy cocktails at Linger Longer I am not a fan of dining in the bar. I made my reservations at AG several weeks before Christmas Eve expecting a nice quiet experience in the dining room with my wife. We were also staying the Ritz for three days over the holiday. Instead we were seated in a booth a few feet from the bar where we were just having cocktails. I am not sure why either Ritz thinks this is a good idea. We aren't complainers so we chalked it off as another Ritz hic-cup but we certainly will select another restaurant for our next special occasion.
First overnight trip to Atlanta. We went to the theatre before dinner. I dIdn’t know much about dining in Atlanta and saw 4 1/2 stars for AG. We were staying at a different hotel, so we made a specific effort to go to AG based on reviews and rating. I am rarely steered wrong by OT when review count is high and 4 1/2 star rating. In this case however, the AG didn’t meet the expectation based on review history.
The service was Great. The food was good but not for the price. The atmosphere was ok. I couldn’t get past this was a hotel restaurant trying to be a high end steakhouse. In the end, the price didn’t support the food or atmosphere. It was not the complete package for high end prices.
Sadly, I was not impressed with AG Modern Steakhouse. The food was lacking in flavor and creativity. The service was mediocre at best. While I never mind paying for a good meal it was hard to pay for a meal that so lacking. I would not recommend nor would I go back to this restaurant.
Great restaurant. Atmosphere is awesome, food is delicious, service is good (waiter was a bit too chatty and kept interrupting the romantic evening), and drink wasn't that good. Again, food was amazing. This is our second time there and we'd definitely go back.
We had such a lovely evening at AG. Our server, Danielle, was just wonderful. She was timely, attentive, and knowledgeable about the wine list and menu. We thoroughly enjoyed our meals, and the atmosphere in the restaurant was really nice. It's quiet and tastefully decorated; perfect for a date or a business meal.
I have stayed at that Ritz before and really loved it. However I was disappointed by the restaurant. While the staff was very nice, I felt a little (ok- a lot) pressured to buy ‘upgraded’ version of about every meal. Ordered wine- got charge the large size... $16 for a okay wine. Ordered a salad- was talked into adding protein and did not realize that 3 shrimp would cost an extra $12... the desert was far from being what I expected. Will not go back. It’s too bad. Ended up spending $80 for one person....for a soup and a ceasar salad .... a bit too much in my experience!
Wife and I both purchased the Filet. I ordered the baked potato and she ordered the Brussel sprouts as the sides. Both steaks were very good. The gravy that came with it was awesome. I know dipping a filet in anything is sac religious but worth the try and continued throughout the meal :) Our only “issue” were the steak knives. They were not serrated so cutting was a little bit of a chore. Overall, very good place for a nice meal. A bit pricey for a steak, but sometimes special occasions call for money :)
We have eaten at this restaurant for many years and we were looking forward to another great meal at this restaurant but our experience was not good at all. We were not offered bread, my son and husband ordered steak and there was more fat that had to be trimmed off than meat. My husband and son stated that their steak was not tender and was hard to chew. The waiter did nothing more than take our order and bring us our check after dinner.
We love AG Modern Steakhouse. It's vibe was much more relaxed and hip than I expected from a Ritz Carlton Restaurant. The food was terrific and they had some good, reasonably priced wine options (several bottles at $50 - not bad for the Ritz!). We also loved the service. We'll definitely go back again!
