   We had a lovely experience. Completely blown away by the surprise birthday cake that we were served, didn’t expect that and it was a lovely treat. The white tea with yuzu was spectacular.

   Took my 87 year old mum to The Merchant for afternoon tea for her birthday with my sons and daughter in law. Very attentive service, lovely food and they brought a wonderful surprise mum for her birthday. She rated it 10/10! Very high praise!

   Wonderful experience for us all; the food was amazing (plenty of options and we were able to take them home with us if we couldn’t finish); they catered to the dietary requirements of one of the people in our booking and then they also brought out a surprise cake with congratulations written on it for me. Service was top notch and overall, highly recommend it. Thank you to everyone working there :)

   I went for afternoon tea with my mum who was visiting Belfast. We were really excited to go. The start was really good we got to the table and we were served by very nice waitress. When we were almost finished I ask for coffee. After 20min I need to ask again. The coffee arrived 15min later. Then I asked for the bill and present the voucher which cover the price for afternoon tea. After around 15min I ask again for the bill and need to wait for another 15min to get full bill as my voucher dissatisfied. Another 30min took the staff to sort it out. Finally they managed to lose box with my remaining buns and cakes. I was totally dissatisfied Not getting there back for sure

   I and my friends loved our afternoon tea, great service, lovely food, every part of it was amazing. We will definitely do it again. We also went into the bar and had a cocktail which was amazing. The staff were lovely in the bar as well and it was a lovely treat before our afternoon tea. I would highly recommend afternoon tea at the merchant. It was my friends sixtieth birthday and the three of us had a really lovely time in the bar and at afternoon tea.

   There was four of us here for a birthday, for two of them this was their first time, the food and service was good, but there was table of adults and kids just beside us, the girls kept running and jumping past us to go the toilet shouting and laughing. As this was going on their parents were quite happily enjoying their day as long as they weren’t running past them, which they could’ve went that way. Neither staff or the parents did anything to keep them under control. This was totally unacceptable, we were there for a relaxing afternoon which we didn’t get and our guests were unimpressed. If I had known how our day was going to turn out we would have went elsewhere.

   I treated my best friend to afternoon tea as a birthday surprise. We had the most loveliest afternoon and the service was exceptional from the moment we entered The Great Room. The food itself was delicious and the Bramble cocktails were amazing also. This won’t definitely be my last visit. Special mention to our server Jodie who was very personable and had excellent knowledge of the cakes and pastries. Can’t wait to return.

   We have always enjoyed having Afternoon Tea at the Merchant Hotel. The food is excellent and the staff are very attentive. We have no hesitation in recommending Afternoon Tea at the Merchant Hotel to family and friends.
