Afternoon Tea at The Chesterfield Palm Beach
Not one of the best Afternoon Teas I had. When I arrived they said my table was in the library, The Library is a tiny cramped room and in it were two businessmen having a conversation, ours was the only party in there so I requested the main dining room which had many available tables but had to wait for a table to be set up. The sandwiches were good but nothing special, pastries were ok and the scones were overdone tea selection was limited however our server was pleasant and hat helped the experience. The price paid was what I would expect to pay for such a lackluster afternoon tea.
Lovely afternoon introducing the nieces to afternoon tea
Excellent afternoon tea! IT was a very special surprise for my mother's birthday!
We celebrated my granddaughter’s graduation from 8th grade by going to tea at the Chesterfield. It was delightful! I had informed them that my daughter in law has numerous allergies and they made a whole set of special sandwiches and sweets just for her! It was amazing! We had a fabulous time!
Afternoon tea birthday celebration
It was my husband’s birthday so we decided to do something special by going out for high tea. The experience was lots of fun as well as delicious. When we came in however it was hard to find someone to help us and then to show us to our table but once the initial glitch was behind us all was great!
Then as we were leaving I stopped in the restaurant to make a reservation for a future date. I was told by the gentleman that he couldn’t put it in the system right then but he’d put it in later and call me to confirm. I waited for the call but didn’t get it so the next day I called to see if the reservation was made...it wasn’t...so I tried again over the phone. Hopefully it is done now but that isn’t the kind of service I think I should expect.
Food was delicious and so was the tea! Great atmosphere and perfect pairing prior to going to the Downton Abbey Exhibit!
To start with, the Hostess said she didn't have my reservation - which is interesting as I'm now being asked for a review. The hostess then proceeded to take us to the Library where the tea was being held, which was small, cramped and had too many fruit flies around the sugar container for my liking. I recalled there being an option to sit outside when I was booking, so I asked if we could please sit outside instead as it was a gorgeous day. This was met with an attitude from the hostess and also from the server. The service was not good. My friend doesn't eat raisins, so she asked if she could have a plain scone, to which she was told no as she hadn't ordered that in advance (had we known the scones had raisins in them, we would have done), so she picked the raisins out of the scone. The service itself was very slow, and the server cleared dirty plates onto an empty table next to us and proceeded to leave them there for the duration of our stay. When we got the check, I noticed that an 18% gratuity had already been added - this was not noted anywhere on the menu or during booking. Not that I wouldn't have paid a gratuity, but I feel like when gratuity is automatically added it doesn't motivate servers to give a high standard of service. Also, the server's verbiage could be improved upon. As I am a grown woman, I don't take kindly to being called a "girl". I have worked in high end hospitality for many years and I was disappointed to say the least. I wouldn't go back.
Booked the Library for tea when friends from France were visiting for 2 days. They are British and I thought they would enjoy Tea at the Chesterfield. I have been there several times and was very happy with the food and service (both times in the Library). I booked well in advance (I think before Thanksgiving).
When we arrived I was told the Library was booked and that you "never guarantee seating there", even though I had to make several calls to confirm the amount of people coming (5) I was never told that you couldn't guarantee the library. The first tea was lukewarm as was the second pot, so we gave up asking.
When my guests asked to at least see the room we were told to peek in but not to look at the people in there (?) What we saw were 4 women around 1 table with the rest of the room empty.
I will never have tea at the Chesterfield again, even if it's for a charity event.
Service was beyond slow and inattentive!!!
Tea sandwiches frozen. Scones and jam sorry.
Tea sandwiches were very very good. We had tea in the library. It was quiet and perfect for conversation. Emery served our high tea and was excellent! She was kind and friendly. We thoroughly enjoyed high tea. Perfect end to our morning Downton Abbey Exhibit.
The Chesterfield staff treated us like royalty. The environment was like a sitting room or library and the ambience was comfortable and relaxing. We have already spread the word to our friends.
