Afternoon Tea at Old Mill Toronto
A tradition at Old Mill Toronto since 1914, our Afternoon Tea service is a delightful midday diversion filled with exotic teas and delectable sandwiches and a glass of bubbly if you wish. We are thrilled to now serve Canada’s finest tea as part of your service, Sloane Fine Tea Merchants. We have hand picked 12 new signature Sloane teas that we think best represent our English roots and that compliment our brand new scrumptious Tea menu.
Whether it’s an afternoon out or a special occasion with a group of friends, our Afternoon Tea experience is a perfect way to savour your special moments and indulge in conversation over an assortment of treats.
Great afternoon out with some friends. Kind of expensive but we all left full and some weren't able to finish everything provided.
We had a wonderful, relaxing afternoon visit, thanks to afternoon tea. That was all lovely, thank you!
Nice ambiance for afternoon tea and we had great service. Sandwiches were average, not a lot of flavour. Scones were tasty with clotted cream and jam.
I booked in advance and was hoping to get a seat in the terrace but was not allowed to. People came after us and got seats and they were at first going to sit them close to where we were.
The location was beautiful. The price however, it did not seem worth it. The options were limited, and food felt stale- bread was hard and dry, macarons were soft, the meringue was sticky.
The scones were delicious though.
Basic high tea. Nothing outstanding that has me wanting to rush back . But, it’s good value if you’re wanting to try high tea.
It’s pricey but it’s a lovely experience and I will definitely be back.
Food was great! Very tasty! The restaurant was clean and tables were set up nicely. The only thing I didn’t like was that the tables are close to one another and you can almost touch your neighbour table.
The waitress didn’t bring milk and honey for our tea until we asked and she didn’t give us any jam either... she only refilled the hot water once and no other services at all. The food was ok, nothing special comparing to other high tea places.
Tea at the Old Mill is overall nice. Each diner gets to select a tea and there is an assortment of sandwiches, scones, and sweets presented on a tower. The scones and sweets were terrific, but the sandwiches were not especially flavorful or creative. I view afternoon tea as a splurge occasion, and more can be done to ensure that the full experience and ambience is a bit more premium. The waiters seem harried and and rushed despite there not being many tables in the dining room.
Afternoon tea with my daughters
Went for the nutcracker themed tea but there was literally nothing nutcracker or even Christmas/holiday about it besides one dessert that had a Christmas tree meringue on it. Disappointed and definitely not enough food/condiments or variety. Pretty disappointed overall
The tea was served in a room on the second floor not the usual location off the main dining room. My mother has a walker which they were aware of and we had to take 2 service elevators and walk through 2 kitchens to get to the room. It was very difficult and walking through the kitchens was not pleasant. I would have made a different choice if I had know the location. I think staff could have mentioned this when they confirmed our reservation. Food was dry and service was rushed as they on,ynhad 2 servers for the room certainly not worth $90.
Great Christmas tea! Food wasn't too heavy and complimented the teas nicely. Gluten free options were really great as well.
Food was nice and atmosphere was lovely - the service was a bit slow but really enjoyable to have an afternoon high tea.
Two friends and I plan our tea at the Old Mill every year - it's tradition. This year it seemed that it was the best ever. We had a lovely table in a different room. Our server was friendly, efficient and very personable. We think that the food has improved; I do not recall the lemon twists on the smoked salmon sandwiches. The tea choices were also extensive.
I took home some of the leftovers, which we could not finish, and my husband was quite appreciative.
Again, this tradition is very important to us and we will certainly carry it on next year.
Lovely ambience at Old Mill and a great price for afternoon tea. Real clotted cream (although very small portion). I do wish they used loose leaf rather than the tea bags. Scones were great and desserts were delicious. Had a lovely time and was very pleased with the complimentary mimosas too! A very pleasant afternoon.
The best Gluten-Free High Tea in Toronto. Thanks Old Moll!!
This is the second time I’ve done afternoon tea here on a Sunday. Food & tea is 5 stars. You have 12 teas to pick from some caffeinated, others caffeine free. They set you up with your own teapot which is enough to fill your mug at least twice and they go around and offer more hot water too. It’s better than nice places I’ve been to in the UK. Just know that you don’t always get seated right away and it can be crowded in the lobby area when you are waiting for a table. Didn’t bother me. Many people like to dress up nice as well which you don’t have to (minimum is smart casual) but it’s fun. Both times we took about 1 and a half hours but you have up to two hours which is plenty of time. It’s great for celebrating birthdays and other special events. Just reserve in advance because they book up.
We had an excellent experience. The quality of the food and service was great. The staff were friendly and hospitable. The ambiance was very inviting and gorgeous. I would definitely return.
It was just way overpriced for the quality of tea and food that you get. $100 for 2 people (with tip) for Sloan tea in a bag and OK food. The room was super loud, it didn't feel like 'high tea'. The toppings were just plain butter and jam in small jars. The high tea at Windsor arms is similar in cost but feels a lot higher quality across the board. Service was good and quick though.
Amazing afternoon tea experience! I would highly recommend.
Overall pretty good. Started us off with a complimentary Mimosa which was a treat. The food especially the sandwiches I felt could have been a bit better. Found the bread used on one was not as fresh as it could have been.
The room was nice but the chairs in the room are very old and could use updating and be more comfortable. The tea could be stronger. The food was good.
We enjoyed the ambience. It would be amazing in the summer with the flowers blooming. The food was okay. The dessert was not very impressive. The waitress was friendly.
The places was packed, they had several events going on but it didn't change the quality of service. The food selection was delicious and I enjoyed the teas.
A bit overpriced, but I understand that’s normal for this kind of experience. Food was good, especially scones - very fresh and delicious.
I am allergic to gluten and the online menu looked truly nice. When I got there I got vegan-lactose and gluten free afternoon tea... very disappointed. Just because you are allergic to gluten does not mean you can't eat milk or that you are a vegan... When I asked why I could not get a salmon sandwich made on gluten free bread the waiter said that it was because of the spread...butter...
The tea was fantastic, and such a great place for my Great Aunt's birthday. Your wait staff is fantastic. I wish the scones were larger slightly and that the teacups/teapots were more formal as they were just white conference room style.
The afternoon tea at the Old Mill is always a pleasure, I did note however it seemed markedly busy this time compared to the last few times I have attended. It was a bit overwhelming having to wait to be seated with all the people in a single small entrance but after that the overall experience was wonderful. The tea was lovely, the food was amazing as always, and the ambiance was very calming.
The location is really the best part of the experience. The hotel is very interesting. The tea room felt a bit off. It was decorated and all, but it didn't have much personality. I think it was mostly due to the lighting, which just didn't bring the right ambiance. The teas were fine (I'm not a huge fan of Sloan teas) and the food was good.
Lovely high tea in a beautiful setting. Within 10 minutes of making the booking, they called to find out if it was a special occasion, or if there were any dietary restrictions. That was very helpful, as one persons does not eat fish. Everything was prepared when we arrived. Unfortunately service in the dining room was not at the same high level. It could best be described as a bit rough around the edges. The waiters were hard to flag down, didn’t really pay attention to the diners, and just plonked the dishes down and walked away. They didn’t try to find out who had the no fish request, they just pointed out which one was no fish and left it in the middle of the table. It was more what you would expect at a really busy banquet hall where they’re rushing to serve hundreds of meals at the same time, rather than an elegant high tea service.
But we were there for the food, which was wonderful. Excellent sandwiches, lovely scones, and delicious desserts. Overall, high marks.
Nice tea, nice atmosphere, nice food but a bit expensive for what you get.
Delicious selection of teas and a finely presented array of sweets, scones, and small savoury sandwiches. Great atmosphere. It was a little expensive though....
I've had afternoon tea at several hotels all over the world. This experience was the worst I've had. The food was mediocre and served on mediocre dishes. We asked for vegetarian options - I think the chef confused this with vegan. We received the most dry and tasteless sandwiches even after I told the server that everything on the menu was fine except the chicken sandwich. The atmosphere was poor, music choice of rock over a sound system as opposed to music conducive to conversation and live music preferrably, was terrible. The tea was good but that's to be expected.
We had a good time the service was very Good!
The garden and all the property is very nice!
A wonderful birthday for my daughter - thank you!!! -
Starting to go a little downhill this may very well be my last visit. They have cut back on the food served absolutely atrocious. 2 scones, 3 bitesize sandwiches , 3 deserts. The waiter was a complete mess. He wasn’t aware of dietary requirements in the party, wouldn’t really listen, walked away while being spoken to. Was served the wrong tea, took a while to get this corrected as again he wouldn’t listen and insisted all the correct teas were at the table, only believed after he smelt them all. Dietary requirements are catered for but better places for afternoon tea in the city. A lot better. Great for people watching as weddings take place at this location.
Tea was great! Nice selection of tea. Food was good. Sandwiches were ok. Scones were great! It would be nice if the sugar was not in paper packets but maybe in cubes? Just to go with the tea theme!🙂 great ambiance.
