The staff was very organized and kind. The food was great, I recommended planning for about 1.5 hours for the whole event. My wife and I will be going back!
What a perfect way to spend an afternoon in Portland! Good tea selection, excellent good and service. I frequent tea shops and do teas alot, this was very special.
I have brought my young daughter here several times a year for 3-4 years. It is a wonderful experience, and for small children (she is 7 now), a good chance to practice our best manners. It is such a delightful experience, I will be bringing my great-Aunt and mother this weekend.
Had an amazing tea with my friends today! The service was impeccable and the atmosphere is really beautiful. There is something special about afternoon tea!
Loved having afternoon tea with my girls here. Service is great and very accommodating to dietary restrictions. Love the staff here.
Had a wonderful time at this lovely, historic and elegant hotel. The afternoon tea was such a special experience with beautiful surroundings, friendly staff, and delicious teas, sandwiches, scones, pastries and more. Will definitely be returning again and again.
It was such a lovely room very relaxing, food and tea were wonderful
Gracie’s never disappoints! Their breakfast is my favorite, but this first time experience with their afternoon tea was also lovely.
Afternoon tea was delightful. Brought a friend here for a nice baby shower celebration and we had a great time. They call you to confirm reservations and any dietary restrictions beforehand. Once we arrived, everything was well in place and everyone was so friendly. The tea and treats were tasty and we enjoyed the experience thoroughly.
I have dined here before for afternoon tea, and absolutely loved. However on this occasion, we were rushed through because there was an evening service starting at 5 p.m. No one had made me aware of this when booking, and then at 4.30 they turned the lights off to give us the hint to leave. Food was great, allthough no one had called to confirm the reservation (which they had done previously) and we had 2 veggies in the group. It was made to feel that it wasn't ideal they had to change the menu for the Veggies. Overall, the decor, atmosphere and food/tea/champagne is wonderful, on this occasion they seemed to of dipped their service levels
We had a great experience at Afternoon Tea! My friend and I went for her birthday and loved the atmosphere. The service was gracious, the food was delicious and although on the pricey side, it was a fun option for a special occasion. I will definitely be be back with my mother in law!
Great setting for an afternoon tea ! Food was great too.
Had a nice time at afternoon tea. It has became a yearly tradition for my family. The prices went up this year which was not reflected online. Not a big deal, but I like to know these things ahead of time.
Took some friends to Hotel Deluxe on Sunday 2/3 for Afternoon Tea to celebrate a Birthday and it was delicious.
Gracie’s is such a beautiful room for dining so the ambiance was perfect.
Our Tea Hostess Megan was delightful and provided excellent service throughout our meal.
Whether it’s Afternoon Tea at Gracie’s, Cocktails in the Driftwood room or a Sunday afternoon Pop-up Movie, Hotel Deluxe is always fun…
Love this Portland Gem !
We had a wonderful Afternoon Tea at Hotel deLuxe! Bella, our server, was wonderful. My daughter is gluten-free and enjoyed delicious tea sandwiches and pastries made just for her without the gluten. And for the rest of us -- our traditional tea sandwiches, scones and bite-sized desserts were all very tasty. The dining room is very elegant and quiet too. We will be back!
we had a wonderful time-kind staff, great food, and the tea was delicious.
Everything was great except the service. While our waitress was very nice, we waited 30 minutes to get our tea. That should have happened within 5 minutes of being seated.
If you are a lover of the 'old world' atmosphere of the 50's and Hollywood, you will sigh when you see Gracie's dining room. The curved, upholstered seating around marble table tops will make you smile. The menu doesn't disappoint either.
Holiday vacation in Portland. One of many wonderful experiences with Portland’s “tea scene”. The food was delicious, the setting ambient and refined, the music pleasant.
We enjoyed Afternoon Tea very much. The setting was lovely and elegant, the food was good, and our sever was friendly. Everything was lovely!
The tea variety is ok and the tea menu is typical and ok. It wasn’t as exceptional as I had anticipated from Gracie’s.
My daughter and I had afternoon tea before Christmas. We had a very nice time. There was live piano music, which was excellent and not disruptive. The food was very good; the service was also good and very accommodating. I have never been there for a meal, but I would recommend it for holiday tea.
My husband and I go to afternoon tea every year as a holiday treat, and for the most part we enjoyed this year's occasion. Our only quibble was with the service: once our food was served, it was approximately half an hour before a server returned to our table, and that was only because we got up and asked for one to bring us additional hot water. Otherwise, a very enjoyable experience.
Our party of 5 arrived for high tea right on time. The place was full and very under-staffed. The staff was 5-6 tables behind and we watched while the tables around us gave their orders, got their tea and eventually food. We waited 35 minutes to even order our tea. Our waiter brought the tea 10 minutes later -- now up to 45 minutes after we sat down. Our food came well after that. Our waiter was polite, but understandably harried. it truly was inexcusable. Never again.
Poor service from host who sat us to server who serve us..very curt..was not nice till she gave us the bill. Room was very nice....background piano music to loud..hard to hear conversation at our table..needs to be softer..my granddaughters had a wonderful time..loved the tea time and Beautiful Christmas tree
Delicious tea; sandwiches and treats were mostly very good with a few misses; tasty scones; gorgeous room; kind staff, but we waited over a half hour before we were served; pianist was outstanding. We miss the Heathman's traditional tea, but this one is pretty close.
Lovely time!! Went for my sister's bridal shower and it was such a classy and elegant event! The tea selection was great and the food was delightful! The clotted cream and scones were my favorite. Our server was very attentive and did an amazing job. Can't wait to go back!!
The dining room with its crystal chandeliers and gorgeous ceiling makes for a lovely venue for Holiday tea - we are already planning to come back next year!
The holiday Tea at Gracie's has become an annual event; always a festive event with lots of atmosphere. Ambience, food, bubbly and service is always very good.
The tea and scones were good, but the sandwiches and other confections didn't seem up to snuff for freshness, flavor and overall quality of ingredients—which for the price they should be. The chicken salad, in particular, had a strange taste. The acoustics were loud initially, and I felt like I was at a cocktail party, but then I forgot about it. Beautiful room with lovely live piano music. However, it all comes abruptly to an end at 5 pm as they get ready for dinner service. We had a 3:30 reservation but would come earlier next time. Overall I enjoyed myself, but really wish the food was better. I want it all: ambiance and good food!
Tea water was lukewarm . Sweets uninspired and sandwiches too big.
I know they are busy, but no excuse, they need to learn more about tea sandwiches.
Service Wonderful and Ambiance is fabulous. The could turn down the piano playing a notch.
Afternoon tea was wonderful! I will be making this a yearly tradition from now on. Atmosphere was lovely, thank you!
This was my second time doing a tea here and it never disappoints! The piano, the beautiful chandeliers, and yummy treats makes for a special event!
As a Londoner, I am probably not the best person to judge the quality of an Afternoon Tea Service. That aside, I did attend such a meal there last week with a group of 6 friends (all Americans). They loved it, and found everything charming and authentically English. Hmm, yes, it was lovely, but at $50 a head, it was pricey for the food we received. Here's the Tea description as I experienced it:
Our waiter, arrived and gave us our little tea menus; very cute and elegant, with basically a non-alcoholic full english tea for $46 (or thereabouts) or adding a glass of champagne/cocktail for $52 (or thereabouts).
We ordered the full tea, and then our waiter arrived with a large black box in which (sort of like a magic show presentation) he lifted the cover of this box to reveal to all of us 10 small glass jars, each containing different blends of black/green/white teas, all made by Smith of Portland.
As a Brit, sorry, I have to say perhaps I am biased, I don't want to be wooed for 20 mins with Cinnamon Latte flavored season tea leaves in a little pot. I found the tea leaf pushing quite tiresome, but my tea-naive buddies did seem to lap it up.
After a short wait, a couple of 3-tiered display plates arrived on the table, laden with familiar tea fare; scones (creme and jam), fingers sandwiches of about 4 varieties, a couple of beautifully decorated mini-muffins (didn't try, so not sure what they were), chocolate mousse petit fours, lemon and raspberry mini flans, and perhaps a little biscuit or two (cookies for you!).
As a Christmas Tea, there was a glaring omission on that cake stand; no mince pies. Additionally there was no Victoria Sponge (British staple at Tea).
We could have stayed there for hours drinking our tea and easing our way into a delicious food coma, but after 2 hours, they politely requested we relocate so they could set up for dinner.
The service was fantastic. My daughter and I were lucky to have live piano play adjacent our table. The tea was superb and the sandwiches and cakes were beautiful and tasty. I will definitely go back for high tea with my daughters or friends.
I just enjoyed high tea with my family at Gracie's. It was lovely, and the atmosphere lent to the Hollywood glam feel. A solo pianist played softly, the food was perfect and our server was find and helpful. I strongly suggest this to anyone!
Food was good --- standard fare for afternoon tea, although my tea was only lukewarm. But the real story was the deplorable service. We sat fifteen minutes before our server arrived (we had to go find her!) ... twenty-five minutes after that we were served tea ...twenty-five minutes later we received our food. When we finally got our check it did not show that an 18% tip was already included, so we ended up inadvertently tipping our server a large amount for what was the worst service we've ever received in Portland. This was unacceptable.
Fabulous service, amazing food, and great all around experience
Food was very nice .. Tea could of been hotter and if you like milk with your tea then ask for it too be stronger.
