Took my 8 year old daughter with me for a mommy & me date. She absolutely loved it. Was fun and a great way to spend time together!
I was a little disappointed. I really love Hotel deLuxe's driftwood bar, their food is delicious so my expectations were set pretty high for this high tea. For $55 I would have expected a little more food, or a more impressive spread but it was pretty mediocre all around. Our server was great and attentive but the sandwiches barely had any filling inside and the pastries were just ok. The scones were decent and loved the clotted cream but there was no lemon curd. I've been to high tea at the Ritz along with other five star establishments, paid less and got more out of it.
I took my girlfriend for her birthday and we had a great time. The food, tea and bubbly were great and our server was fantastic. My only complaint was that I had to pay $10 extra for gluten free. The price is already high enough so I did not appreciate the extra charge.
Went here with a few girlfriends for my birthday and had a lovely time! Fantastic service, delicious food, broad tea selection.
Nice tea service.
My first time at tea, with a dear, dear friend.
The afternoon tea at Gracie’a is the best in Portland! I’ll never have tea anywhere else! The Lord Bergamot tea is the best!
Best place in Portland for Afternoon Tea. Great selection of a variety of teas and the food fresh and tasty.
Great atmosphere, good food, and very pleasant. Highly recommend the high tea!
Holiday tea is expensive- and we’ve been to many- we just expected more attentive service (and treats that were just a bit more fancy)
The wait staff was knowledgeable and attentive. Food was tasty and the tea was great. We had a lot of fun.
Whereas the tea choices and quality were very good, I was not impressed by the food at all. We ordered the gluten free high tea and were quite disappointed. The sandwiches had very little in them, which made them hard to appreciate esp. with the rather stale gluten free bread. The scones were unremarkable and they didn't serve lemon curd with them. And, further, the deserts were unremarkable as well. I would not recommend this.
Lovely experience. Treated my mom for her 70th birthday and it did not disappoint!
The ambience and service were 100%. The food was eh. The sandwiches had barely any filling, and the deserts were lack luster. The scones were amazing. Nothing was offensive, just not worth the price. The tea was very good as well.
Went here for our annual family (just the ladies) Christmas tea. We have been going to high teas all over town for years and were excited to finally book a table here. As a family from Scotland, we look forward to high tea as a way to celebrate our culture and our Christmas. Although the atmosphere was lovely, the tea was disappointing. Our waitress was nice enough, but the tea selection, although quite fancy, didn't have Earl Grey tea (which is a tea staple). It took us about 1/2 hour to actually get the tea....just the tea. Then the tea trays arrive, and at $50 a person, was a disappointment. The sandwiches had literally a paper thin piece of filling (whether it was ham, salmon, cucumber or egg salad)--there was barely a distinguishable difference between them. The scones were ok, and the tea cakes were too sweet for our tastes. So I left having had a scone, the insides of the sandwiches (I don't eat white bread), a nibble of three tea cakes, and a pot of tea--all for $50 (paying the same for my daughter--so $100 plus tip). We left hungry and disappointed. Will not come back for tea.
This is an annual event at Gracie's each year; wonderful holiday ambience and very good tea.. The best in Portland.
Bella was a Wonderful server. What a Sweetheart.
Everything was great. The table next to us was very loud and it was difficult to carry on our conversation. Service was very good.
Not good - waiter took forever, 30 minutes before we got our water
I made the on-line reservation for my 11 year old granddaughter and myself in October. We arrived early for our tea and were seated on time. After we gave our tea order, things went downhill. From the time we received our tea, it was another 15 minutes before our waitress, Liberty, brought our water. Other than one table of people who were seated after us, everyone in our section was served their food. We received ours more than 50 MINUTES after arriving. We had already finished our tea and hot chocolate, the tops of the sandwiches were dry (they must have been sitting out for a very long time), and no apology or explanation was given. The dining room isn't large and there were 3 waiters, which should have been plenty to take care of the number of tables. When it was time to pay, our waitress mentioned that I had been "misinformed" on the price of the children's tea on the website, and that it would be $5 extra because it was a holiday tea. then she backed down after I didn't say anything, and said "Oh, alright, I'll take the $5 back off." The whole event, including the $50 price tag for the adult tea, was disappointing. If my granddaughter hadn't been with me and I didn't want to spoil our time together, I would have complained at the time. As it was, she was extremely hungry before we finally got our food. I love Gracie's for dinner, but won't be back for afternoon tea.
We went today to celebrate a friends birthday; as usual the food and service is always top notch at Gracies.
Just lovely! My daughters and I enjoyed the entire experience. Our server started with a selection of teas. Our sandwiches and scones and treats were delicious. We will be back!
Elegant is the first word that comes to mind as I reflect on our experience at High Tea. The room decor, the table setting, the ambiance, the presentation of food and beverages...it was all so very elegant. Our server Daniel was attentive, informative, responsive, professional and friendly. I was treating my best friend to a retirement celebration. The setting couldn't have been more fitting. I recommend this experience to everyone.
Overall it was a very nice experience. The scones and clotted cream and jam were nice as were the sandwiches. The sweets could have used more imagination.
The food was delicious and the presentation was beautiful. My friends and I had a unique and memorable visit in an elegant setting. The staff was very gracious. Can't wait to do it again!
Amazing service - our server was great! Furthermore, we booked online for afternoon tea but wasn't sure if I should make the reservation for two or three since my two year old son was coming but wasn't going to be ordering (there wasn't anywhere to leave notes online). Well they set up everything in advance, so they had the set up and food made for three already. Once I explained the situation they said no big deal at all, gave us the portion for three people, and only charged us for two! The tea and food were amazing as well as the service! Definitely coming again!
Amazing experience. Have already passed along to my friends!
The staff was very organized and kind. The food was great, I recommended planning for about 1.5 hours for the whole event. My wife and I will be going back!
What a perfect way to spend an afternoon in Portland! Good tea selection, excellent good and service. I frequent tea shops and do teas alot, this was very special.
I have brought my young daughter here several times a year for 3-4 years. It is a wonderful experience, and for small children (she is 7 now), a good chance to practice our best manners. It is such a delightful experience, I will be bringing my great-Aunt and mother this weekend.
Had an amazing tea with my friends today! The service was impeccable and the atmosphere is really beautiful. There is something special about afternoon tea!
Loved having afternoon tea with my girls here. Service is great and very accommodating to dietary restrictions. Love the staff here.
Had a wonderful time at this lovely, historic and elegant hotel. The afternoon tea was such a special experience with beautiful surroundings, friendly staff, and delicious teas, sandwiches, scones, pastries and more. Will definitely be returning again and again.
It was such a lovely room very relaxing, food and tea were wonderful
Gracie’s never disappoints! Their breakfast is my favorite, but this first time experience with their afternoon tea was also lovely.
Afternoon tea was delightful. Brought a friend here for a nice baby shower celebration and we had a great time. They call you to confirm reservations and any dietary restrictions beforehand. Once we arrived, everything was well in place and everyone was so friendly. The tea and treats were tasty and we enjoyed the experience thoroughly.
I have dined here before for afternoon tea, and absolutely loved. However on this occasion, we were rushed through because there was an evening service starting at 5 p.m. No one had made me aware of this when booking, and then at 4.30 they turned the lights off to give us the hint to leave. Food was great, allthough no one had called to confirm the reservation (which they had done previously) and we had 2 veggies in the group. It was made to feel that it wasn't ideal they had to change the menu for the Veggies. Overall, the decor, atmosphere and food/tea/champagne is wonderful, on this occasion they seemed to of dipped their service levels
We had a great experience at Afternoon Tea! My friend and I went for her birthday and loved the atmosphere. The service was gracious, the food was delicious and although on the pricey side, it was a fun option for a special occasion. I will definitely be be back with my mother in law!
Great setting for an afternoon tea ! Food was great too.
Had a nice time at afternoon tea. It has became a yearly tradition for my family. The prices went up this year which was not reflected online. Not a big deal, but I like to know these things ahead of time.
