   Took a friend for her 50th which we notified them of, but there was nothing mentioned or acknowledged. The sandwiches were small with not much filling, we had a waitress who started off attentive but we were then forgotten about until we were almost ready to leave and only then were we offered a second pot of tea. Not sure I would go again

   We had the afternoon tea, which was lovely. Seated in the main restaurant. Maybe we should have been offered the garden as it was a beautiful day, but that's fine - we could have asked!

   Overall I would say this is a well priced afternoon tea based on location. There was no real ambience, and the service was relatively slow considering how quiet it was. We did have to get the attention of waiters a few times. Slightly disheartened by the food itself as I felt the finger sandwiches were quite thin in comparison to other venues and the deserts were a rogue choice (mint and dark chocolate cake, Battenberg cake). Lovely afternoon nevertheless.

   Although staff were very friendly, we often had to wait a while to get their attention, despite being very quiet. Scones were over baked and crumbled upon cutting them. Young man that first served was very nice and the rest of the food was very nice.

   Amazing experience. Our food needs were very well catered for, there was a fantastic array of teas to choose from and the service from the staff was beyond compare. Would thoroughly recommend.

   I contacted Carey's twice by phone to inform of dietary requirements and to change to date of the booking and the staff were very helpful and polite. The foot was good but not up to the normal standards for this venue as we have been here a couple of times before. The bread on the finger sandwiches was a little dry and the cake selection was not as good this time. They were all stodgy and sickly and not really festive. The biggest disappointment for me was on their website Festive Afternoon Tea is advertised at £30 per person yet we were charged £33.75 each so that was an extra £15 as there were 4 of us. I didn't realise at the time as the bill was split in half and it wasn't until I got home that I realised the extra. If this was a service charge then they should specify this as we were not given a bill or made aware of this. We weren't even given a bill just told the amount that was outstanding. If this wasn't a service charge then they owe us £15. We went back here as we have always had a really good Afternoon Tea experience here be it Festive or normal but this was below standard for Careys and has put us off booking again.

   The food was very tasty. There were more than enough cakes and scones but we could have done with a few more finger sandwiches. But there were no staff around to ask. The service was terrible, even with very few customers. There was absolutely no ambience. We weren't offerred prosecco, but we did ask someone eventually. It was like we were an inconvenience being there to serve. The environment was pleasant and Christmas decs were up. Not sure I would return.
