Visited after sister-in-law's recommendation. Thoroughly enjoyed happy hour offerings, unusual preparation and presentation. Cocktail of the day was good as was house red wine. Had room at end for dessert. Quite an experience, wonderful texture and tastes. Will return
They brought out special drinks and desserts for our friend's birthday and we had exceptional service!
We had a wonderful dinner before going to MTH. It is so hard to find venison in town so I was so surprised to find it, and then it was cooked to my order perfectly even though it is not normally what chefs like to cook it. My wife had Jaegerschnitzel and it covered the plate and she couldn't eat half but made for a nice leftover. We also had some sausages before dinner and then they provided some pretzel bread. We also had a wonderful dessert that had three different chocolates that were light but outstanding. Needless to say, we rolled out of the restaurant very pleased and satisfied.
Hair in dish
Food was wonderful...as usual. We tried brats, risotto, and jagerschnitzel...all were fabulous. Service was very good. Enjoyed our evening.
Great Saturday brunch spot! Now one of my favorites in town.
I have been in love with this restaurant for years now. You can tell that it's a scratch kitchen with seasonal ingredients, with incredibly reasonably priced dishes for what you're getting.
And the taste it amazing!!!!!
My wife and I went here for our 18th anniversary, and it was absolutely outstanding. She loves fish, and usually Affare has many to choose from. We had the Cod and Opah, and both were cooked to perfection. The wild mushroom soup is worth the trip. One thing that makes this restaurant so notable are the items on the menu, that you usually won’t find anyplace else.
Where else can you find Opah?
We will definitely be back for another special occasion dinner, and won’t have to worry about a boring menu.
Overall, I really liked their cocktails and ambiance, I just thought that the poor service and mediocre food did not make the cost worth it. The food was good. We ordered the duck sampler and the brat trio. Both dishes were good. But if I am going to pay $100+ for a meal I want the food to be excellent! The best part of the meal was the pretzel bread with deviled egg spread that was brought out at the beginning. The cocktails are original and very delicious. Definitely worth the price. The service wasn’t great. The restaurant was not busy at all and our server barely was able to take our orders and answer questions we had about the menu. I was disappointed in our experience here and unfortunately will most likely not be returning unless it’s for drinks.
We attended the wine paring dinner recently & it was incredible. Hope they will have more in the future.
Great as always. And always friendly to my vegan diet!
Wonderful meal. Everything on the menu tempted us. We started with the the mushroom soup, spinach and salmon pastry and the fresh vegetables with the pretzel. All wonderful. Then the Cut, the Sea and a trio of wurzts. Absolutely wonderful. The four of us shared everything and left stuffed.
Next time I want to try the platter of duck.
Affare had a special Valentines menu but we could also order off the regular menu. I did, and the root vegetable salad, almond crusted trout and strawberries were perfect. We'll be back.
The food was delicious, ample, and beautiful. Lovely, friendly service.
Don’t go there if you are expecting German food, I will never go back there again. The food was ok, nothing impressive. They should advertise as American Food.
Our 2nd visit and just like the first the food was prepared perfectly. Recommend the smoked salad, duck, venison loin. Watch the pre-dinner grazing as portions are ample for main dish. $20 corkage competitive and Tony was fun.
Our dinner was awesome!! We thoroughly enjoyed our evening!!
Menu is always unique for Kansas City. Preparation and presentation is impeccable. Service is first-rate. One of our favorite places to dine.
Very nice atmosphere and friendly staff! Food was delicious and the cocktails were on point. We will definitely go back!
As always, the food was amazing and the service was excellent. Great happy hour too.
Our server was awesome and food was delicious!
I really wanted to like it and the decor and size were way more than I expected. The vibe was also energetic. However, the service, from bar to table was woeful at best. Almost even uninterested. While we had a group of 8 and weren’t in any hurry necessarily, our dinner was over three hours long and our server disappeared for long stretches of time nor did she ever even give her name. The food was good but not remarkable. Too bad.
Affaire is always a great choice! Both the service and food are consistently superb. If you can use the streetcar, it's recommended and drops you off in front! There are nearby surface lots close by / behind the restaurant but they're not well maintained or well lit in this area.
Had a veggie risoto which was delish, but pricey. Loved the ambiance..old film noir on the screens instead of news or sports was a welcome change
Dinner before KC Symphony. It was perfect!
I thought this place was clean and cool. The service was friendly and super attentive, they also were great at answering questions. The food just wasn't amazing. We had some rabbit dish and the legs were just burned up and flavorless. A lot of the food looked great but tasted very mediocre, just not a bold flavored style. The cocktails were pretty tasty and came out quickly. With so many options in KC to choose from, this place would need to step up it's game a bit for me to recommend it over several other options.
Affare doesn't disappoint. Repeat visit for Restaurant Week. There were only 2 entrees to choose from and all 3 of us ordered the seafood risotto and we all agreed it was wonderful. The risotto was nice and creamy and the hint of lemon was very refreshing. The seafood - salmon, swordfish, shrimp and scallop - was cooked perfectly and provide a nice sampling. We'll definitely be back again.
We had an amazing meal this past Sunday evening! We shared several plates from the versatile appetizer/bar menu and enjoyed a variety of entree dishes as well. Wonderful service, beautiful space highlighting local art. A perfect meal!
The food wasn't as good as it has been in the past. The chicken with the chicken and waffle was a bit over done. We'll be back though. We do like Affare. Just a bit disappointed this time around. THanks!
Our party of 8 enjoyed our experience at Affäre. The food was excellent. We had the seafood risotto, a pork chop and the Jaeger schnitzel. The food was delicious. Our server was helpful and prompt with service. We would highly recommend Affäre.
We had a great experience at Affare during restaurant week. The food was amazing, the service was great, the booth seats were comfortable, the decor was cool.
A great combination of upscale food in a casual setting. We look forward to returning!
Great food spot. Food was good service was great and the overall experience was excellent.
The service was absolutely wonderful and the Restaurant Week menu was superb. Everything on it was tried by our group of 6 and none of us was disappointed. Our server was very attentive and seemed to enjoy our light hearted approach to the evening. She even laughed at our jokes and understood that Riesling was not Riesling to me unless it was Trocken.
Parking is a problem, but the food, service and ambiance were great.
This restaurant is always consistently delicious and creative.
Food was overpriced, portions were small, service was mediocre, and their modern take on preparation was neither novel or interesting. Only tried it because I like trying new restaurants, but never going back.
Restaurant week. We added a winter salad to the fixed price menu. Clam chowder was good, seafood risotto was very good. Dessert selection was bread pudding nicely done with a thick bourbon sauce. The waiter was friendly and attentive. It was very cold out so every time the door opened our table got a big blast. Might try to get a table in the second dining are to avoid that.
First time at Affare. Had heard good things about it. I was really impressed. The food and wine were good and presented nicely. I’ll definitely go back.
