Affäre Ratings and Reviews
Wonderful meal. Everything on the menu tempted us. We started with the the mushroom soup, spinach and salmon pastry and the fresh vegetables with the pretzel. All wonderful. Then the Cut, the Sea and a trio of wurzts. Absolutely wonderful. The four of us shared everything and left stuffed.
Next time I want to try the platter of duck.
I really wanted to like it and the decor and size were way more than I expected. The vibe was also energetic. However, the service, from bar to table was woeful at best. Almost even uninterested. While we had a group of 8 and weren’t in any hurry necessarily, our dinner was over three hours long and our server disappeared for long stretches of time nor did she ever even give her name. The food was good but not remarkable. Too bad.
Affaire is always a great choice! Both the service and food are consistently superb. If you can use the streetcar, it's recommended and drops you off in front! There are nearby surface lots close by / behind the restaurant but they're not well maintained or well lit in this area.
I thought this place was clean and cool. The service was friendly and super attentive, they also were great at answering questions. The food just wasn't amazing. We had some rabbit dish and the legs were just burned up and flavorless. A lot of the food looked great but tasted very mediocre, just not a bold flavored style. The cocktails were pretty tasty and came out quickly. With so many options in KC to choose from, this place would need to step up it's game a bit for me to recommend it over several other options.
Affare doesn't disappoint. Repeat visit for Restaurant Week. There were only 2 entrees to choose from and all 3 of us ordered the seafood risotto and we all agreed it was wonderful. The risotto was nice and creamy and the hint of lemon was very refreshing. The seafood - salmon, swordfish, shrimp and scallop - was cooked perfectly and provide a nice sampling. We'll definitely be back again.
The service was absolutely wonderful and the Restaurant Week menu was superb. Everything on it was tried by our group of 6 and none of us was disappointed. Our server was very attentive and seemed to enjoy our light hearted approach to the evening. She even laughed at our jokes and understood that Riesling was not Riesling to me unless it was Trocken.
Restaurant week. We added a winter salad to the fixed price menu. Clam chowder was good, seafood risotto was very good. Dessert selection was bread pudding nicely done with a thick bourbon sauce. The waiter was friendly and attentive. It was very cold out so every time the door opened our table got a big blast. Might try to get a table in the second dining are to avoid that.
Service was a little off in timing (wine pairings were late and required reminders...we were there over an hour before entrees were served and we filled up on pretzels- that we had to ask for)...but we understand it was restaurant Week and quite busy. Just not what we’ve come to expect. And the food quality on the limited menu was definitely not the best we’ve experienced there either.
Restaurant week visit. First course: Veggies were good, albeit unexpectedly cool. Clam chowder was excellent. Main course: Seafood risotto was very good, although skimpy on the seafood. Pork was tasty, but tough and chewy. Dessert: Strudel and bread pudding both good, but unremarkable.
Excellent! Had never been to this restaurant before and thoroughly enjoyed it. A very pleasant waiter, endless mimosas and bloody Marys, and great live music from A La Mode. Best eggs Benedict I ever had. The only thing I would change is a little softer volume on the live music during brunch, although we thoroughly enjoyed the performance. Both German and American cuisine options, highly recommend.
This place is just amazing! The is fresh and delicious, and the restaurant does an extraordinary job with presentation and uniqueness. The staff is always friendly and knowledgeable. One of my absolute favorite places to eat, and not just in KC but in all my travels.
