The food was excellent. Very clean and light. We ordered the Hawaiin moon fish and the scallops they were both cooked perfectly and the broth they came in were delicious. For dessert we ordered the cheesecake tort. It was one of the best desserts I’ve ever had. The service was exceptional. We will definitely be coming back.
Had brunch during Jazz time. Food was great and the music was nice.
As always, Affare delivers with incredible brunch and Jazz! It was a hit amongst those who had never attended Sunday Brunch! Thank you a thousand times over for great food, service, and ambiance!!
This restaurant was amazing… Easily one of the top five restaurants I’ve ever been to
My companion had tried this place and really liked it, so i decided to give it a try also. So glad we did. We ate here on a recent Friday night. I started with a wonderful cocktail, Hats and Glasses, unlike anything i've had. Our salads were delicious. He had the smoked spinach salad, which i tasted, and i had the salad with strawberries and white asparagus. He had the seafood risotto and i had the half order of ruby trout. Both entries were beautiful and well-prepared. Service was friendly but very professional. Everyone was very welcoming. They have some nice wines by the glass in addition to the interesting cocktails. It's on the streetcar line, so it's pretty easy to get to from downtown. We found on-street parking, but there are garages nearby as well. Great ambiance and an appealing interior.
Truly exceptional food. Mushroom soup was unlike any I had ever tasted and was fabulous. Loved the brats and the scallops as well. The server was wonderful and helped guide us through the menu ( and was even convinced to share a photo of her beautiful dog with us). A KC gem.
Great little place with quiet ambiance and unique food. Great for a date!
Two of our group of four chose the half trout, which came with potatoes and spinach. I've had this meal before and recommended it. It was perfect. Three had the wild mushroom soup and liked it. I especially like the simplicity of the meals at Affare. Nothing in the dish that isn't mentioned on the menu. And I object to getting more food than I can reasonably eat. Affare is very good on this point.
Lidia was great at making suggestions. I did the wine tasting, which was incredible and a great value. The smoked spinach salad in a jar, was a surprise and a hit. The Spanish rabbit, out of this world. I will be back to try the venison. Couldn't try everything.
The food and service are always impeccable. More people should discover this gem of a restaurant in Kansas City's Crossroads district.
My boyfriend and I love a great Sunday brunch and are trying new restaurants every week. We were extremely pleased with our Affare brunch! The not-too-loud jazz duo up front were a great addition to our yummy food, excellent service and delicious bottomless Bloody Mary's / Endless Mimosa's. We will be back!
It was my first time there. I thought the food was scrumptious! I will be returning this Saturday evening to dine with my symphony friends. Lydia was our waitress and she was delightful. Charlotte
Affäre started strong and continues to grow and exceed expectations in every way.
Current champ of the KC food scene, which means champion of the world. KC culinary beats NYC, London, etc., hands down.
Make sure you check out the happy hour small plates, as they are the best in KC as of this review. And, whoa that cheese cake mousse thing. Seriously sinister!
Kitchen and service professionals at Affäre are outstanding.
excellent, just excellent!
first time in for the Four Course dinner and wine pairing,
great value for $44.00! Wine and Food!
Will be back again on Thursday in the near Future!
As always, a wonderful dining experience. Always look forward to dining at Affare especially after driving 1000 miles from San Antonio. Great food, service and atmosphere.!
One of our favorite brunch spots in the city. The live music was lovely for Easter.
This place never disappoints. This time, we came for Easter brunch and fully enjoyed the food, the service, and the jazz duo. We always save room for one of their desserts!
Love love love this restaurant. Always consistent-always congenial
Everything was fantastic! The food was delicious and our server, Dara, was great! We will definitely be back.
We had excellent service and excellent food! Drinks were great and the food was exceptional! Definitely a fantastic experience!!!
Overpriced. Slow service.
Great food, excellent service. Will be back again.
The Duck selections were wonderful!
What a great meal. The food, the service and atmosphere were all very nice. The way the restaurant is set with hanging curtains dividing off parts of the area made for an “easy to hear” location. It’s nice when you can go into a restaurant and enjoy conversation and the food!
The seafood risotto had four small over cooked pieces of seafood.....for the money this is not worth it
Visited after sister-in-law's recommendation. Thoroughly enjoyed happy hour offerings, unusual preparation and presentation. Cocktail of the day was good as was house red wine. Had room at end for dessert. Quite an experience, wonderful texture and tastes. Will return
They brought out special drinks and desserts for our friend's birthday and we had exceptional service!
We had a wonderful dinner before going to MTH. It is so hard to find venison in town so I was so surprised to find it, and then it was cooked to my order perfectly even though it is not normally what chefs like to cook it. My wife had Jaegerschnitzel and it covered the plate and she couldn't eat half but made for a nice leftover. We also had some sausages before dinner and then they provided some pretzel bread. We also had a wonderful dessert that had three different chocolates that were light but outstanding. Needless to say, we rolled out of the restaurant very pleased and satisfied.
Hair in dish
Food was wonderful...as usual. We tried brats, risotto, and jagerschnitzel...all were fabulous. Service was very good. Enjoyed our evening.
Great Saturday brunch spot! Now one of my favorites in town.
I have been in love with this restaurant for years now. You can tell that it's a scratch kitchen with seasonal ingredients, with incredibly reasonably priced dishes for what you're getting.
And the taste it amazing!!!!!
My wife and I went here for our 18th anniversary, and it was absolutely outstanding. She loves fish, and usually Affare has many to choose from. We had the Cod and Opah, and both were cooked to perfection. The wild mushroom soup is worth the trip. One thing that makes this restaurant so notable are the items on the menu, that you usually won’t find anyplace else.
Where else can you find Opah?
We will definitely be back for another special occasion dinner, and won’t have to worry about a boring menu.
Overall, I really liked their cocktails and ambiance, I just thought that the poor service and mediocre food did not make the cost worth it. The food was good. We ordered the duck sampler and the brat trio. Both dishes were good. But if I am going to pay $100+ for a meal I want the food to be excellent! The best part of the meal was the pretzel bread with deviled egg spread that was brought out at the beginning. The cocktails are original and very delicious. Definitely worth the price. The service wasn’t great. The restaurant was not busy at all and our server barely was able to take our orders and answer questions we had about the menu. I was disappointed in our experience here and unfortunately will most likely not be returning unless it’s for drinks.
We attended the wine paring dinner recently & it was incredible. Hope they will have more in the future.
Great as always. And always friendly to my vegan diet!
Wonderful meal. Everything on the menu tempted us. We started with the the mushroom soup, spinach and salmon pastry and the fresh vegetables with the pretzel. All wonderful. Then the Cut, the Sea and a trio of wurzts. Absolutely wonderful. The four of us shared everything and left stuffed.
Next time I want to try the platter of duck.
Affare had a special Valentines menu but we could also order off the regular menu. I did, and the root vegetable salad, almond crusted trout and strawberries were perfect. We'll be back.
The food was delicious, ample, and beautiful. Lovely, friendly service.
