food was bad
service was mediocre
still questioning some items on the final bill
serve spilt a drink on someone
server forgot some items we ordered and messed up what was ordered
there was 7 of us and none of the group enjoyed or would recommend this place, 2 of the people left because of the server and poor service.
I could go on but overall a terrible experience
The website made it look more like fine dining but upon getting there it was a typical little on the corner, in and out spot on college. The food was average and our requests were forgotten quickly even though there were only two other customers in the restaurant. Also forgot to bring our dessert, perhaps it was an off day. Wasn’t the worst but for the special occasion dinner I was hoping to have it didn’t really hit the spot.
Closed when we arrived for reservation.
Not enough food for the price. I feel ripped off!
The restaurant was very slow - only two tables. Yet the service was very bad. The waiter forgot half of our order and didn't do anything to apologize or rectify the mistake. Given the complete lack of customers we were expecting at least good service.
The food was good. However given the lack of service and ambiance we won't be returning.
This restaurant is not good for dining at all: dirty, worn out furniture, no air cond, very noisy music: terrible:(. I did not eat there. You should not have it on your list: very disappointing
Mediocre staff and an imaginative menu but the spot has potential.
Had the jerk chicken, mac pie, oxtail, and a pattie.
The jerk chicken and oxtail were very flavourful! Expected a little more spice on the jerk as I asked for it to be "hot". But nonetheless this is quality carribean food in a central location. Much better than your basic jerk spot like ritz (🤢)
Was at AF1 last week for my birthday dinner with 7 other people. I found the atmosphere very welcoming and the music was fantastic as it took me back to when my Dad used to DJ house parties. Many of my guests were significantly late (reso at 7) however; the young man looking after our table was more than patient and made sure to take a drink order each time a guest would arrive. Everyone agreed the food was authentic, delicious Jamaican dishes. Although the rice & peas were dry, we still enjoyed the meal as a whole and the hard dough bread was a nice addition to the Jerk Chicken. Portions were impressive and that coleslaw was stellar. I will definitely be returning as soon as possible and highly recommend AF1 to anyone looking for an authentic West Indian restaurant in the city.
Food was amazing!
I went with a group of friends to check this place out after BlogTO ranked it one of the city's new hot spots. I was very disappointed. The portions were minuscule and after we ordered 5 entrees and two sides for the group, we still needed more food and went elsewhere. Red stripe beers were 8$. Not only were the portions small and overpriced, but the food was bland, and the service was slow. I'm usually forgiving re service, but the waiters forgot our beers, took 15 min to bring menus, and 20 min to bring our bill.
We went during the Italian Festival so didn't get a chance to see this place on a regular day as there were specials that day and things seem disorganized - our order was mistakenly given to others on more than one occasion. Need a dedicated wait staff separate from the cooks. Loved the deco of the restaurant. Music was very raunchy Jamaican songs - not all Jamaicans want to hear that. Some classic and modern reggae would have been nice. Lovely staff but need to get it together
We were a large group that came here to celebrate a friend's birthday. Despite making a reservation ahead of time, our table was not ready when we arrived. The servers were disorganized, slow and inattentive to the basic needs of the table (for example, water, plates, cutlery). The music was too loud to have a conversation with anyone without yelling. The food was overcooked, overpriced and under seasoned. My largest gripe was that they refused to let us pay individually because of the size of our party (there were 13 of us). They said they needed to charge us 18% gratuity but when we suggested that they charge 18% on each bill, they still refused.
Overall a great experience. The owner was very gracious and friendly.
Food was very tasty however, just a little too much scotch bonnet heat.
Less would make for remarkable dishes.
Will definitely return and also tell my friends.
We had a wonderful evening. Staff were attentive and personable. Great evening. Thank you so much.
Food was expensive and extremely spicy but over all great
Extremely disappointing. The food was absolutely awful. Tasted as though it had been cooked. Cooled. Recooked. Cooled and then heated in a microwave. I took one bite and didn't bother with the rest. Only good thing was the music and staff.
Overall everything we had was tasty. Tried the jerk pork, chicken, patties, pepper shrimp and Lobster. Chicken was a bit dry and portion of Lobster was very small, tail only.
the food was great. just like the resto advertised its an 'interpretation' of Caribbean cuisine and a spin on the classics. very tasty and the flavors were incredible.
the staff were rather young and didn't really know what they were doing.... but we didnt wait long for our food at all, which was great!
the food look a long time to order but once ordered it came very fast.
My friends and I love Jamaican food and were very excited to taste the goods here.
The rum punch was a bit on the sweet side but very delicious.
The curry goat was not fresh, it was dry and lacked seasoning. We were very disappointed with the curry goat.
The oxtail was better, not as dry, but still not very seasoned with great flavour.
The fish cakes were really tasty.
The rice and peas were mediocre.
The coleslaw was ok.
The music was blaring way too loudly although they were playing great tunes.
I would go back to try the jerk chicken and have more fish fritters and sip on the rum punch!
The service was friendly:)
Cute place great food but over priced. Also need to bring cash can't pay by debit card. Some of the things on the menu weren't available also. The jersey pork was amazing !!!! I would go again.
