Adobe Grill Ratings and Reviews
We here for a winter getaway from Chicago. The restaurant and the entire La Quinta Resort was magical! The Spanish influence and the musicians playing live music outside under the fairy lights, surrounded by flowers and fountains made us feel like we were in Spain. The food was excellent. The service was great. We sat outside under the heat lamps overlooking the spectacular and humongous Christmas tree and the gardens. I have never seen a more beautifully lit tree.
I would have to say that this was one of the most disappointing meals I've had in the last 5 years or so. The reviews were very good and my expectations were high. I'm from the east coast and our Mexican food is generally mediocre. So when I come to California and eat Mexican, especially at a pricey resort restaurant, I'm expecting a really good meal, but man oh man, was I disappointed. As a general rule, the food tasted both inauthentic and was largely tasteless or mediocre. The tableside guacamole was the worst of its kind I've ever had - it had almost no taste whatsoever. I had cheese enchiladas that were just fair at best. My wife' avocado soup was entirely tasteless - she poured in salsa to try to give it flavor but to no avail.
There were two good things about the meal. Our server was delightful - no complaints there at all - and we tipped for the service because he's not the one running the kitchen. Also, there was a tuna and avocado appetizer with an asian flavor that was really excellent - night and day better than everything else.
Anyway, the next day, having not satisfied our craving for Mexican food, we went to Palm Canyon and went to an authentic Mexican restaurant that cost 2/5 as much and the food was to die for. But, with all due respect for the resort (which I love), I wouldn't waste your money at this place unless you are just going for the atmosphere, which is very nice, particularly on the patio. But I hope management of the restaurant reads this review and takes it seriously - friends I had were also dining at the restaurant that evening and, from what I can tell, they were also quite disappointed with their meals.
My parents came down to visit and i told them that it is a nice choice. Obviously the resort is beautiful. my Father is very picky because he owns a 5 star steak house which is much better then chain restaurants like Morton' and those other ones. He loved the chips and salsa. The as well as his dinner. I especially the ice tea.Service was average. So I would go back
Adobe Grill is located within the beautiful grounds of the La Quinta Resort. It's a second story restaurant that overlooks a beautifully landscaped terrace-like courtyard. We sat on their patio during the resort's holiday tree lighting ceremony...wonderful. The fajitas, table side guacamole, margaritas, and flan dessert were all delicious. Many of the staff are long-time employees and were very friendly which made for a memorable experience.
We went to the Adobe Grill with another couple looking for a fun place with great food. The settling was beautiful. We sat outside on a warm evening listening to live music. The service was suspect and the food was ok. We had a great time and would certainly go again.
We live in La Quinta and this was one of our many dinners at Adobe. Once again, they came through with fresh, authentic Mexican food and great drinks. A special “thank you” to our waiter, Victor, who gave excellent service and made us feel welcome. Forget the tourist traps and visit an authentic Mexican restaurant: Adobe Grill.
We are locals and have eaten at Adobe Grill many times. The food is always great and I love the changes to the menu. Table side guacamole is always a must. Fabulous margaritas! However, it is the service that makes us return. Oswaldo is a fabulous server who always remembers our preferences and ensures we are well taken care of. Personality and great service - thank you! A special mention must be made to Heriberto who also remembers us and is so welcoming. A nice touch was the chef coming out and personally checking on the tables.
We went to Adobe Grill twice on this visit to La Quinta Resort. The first time at Lunch they forgot my chicken on my salad but went above and beyond to comp my salad with late arriving chicken. Gorgeous views from the outdoor patio.
The second time we went , the staff were very friendly but unorganized. They forgot our chips and salsa and food was luke warm and disappointing. The fajitas don't come sizzling and the tortillas were dry, no real Mexican flavor anywhere. The Ceviche was downright odd. Nice shrimp but too soft fish swimming in a verde sauce...just not what we expected as we LOVE Mexican Ceviche.
We loved our night out at Adobe Grill. We travel a lot and are busy in our work and Ministries. It was pleasant to enjoy an excellent meal, hear the music playing at the outdoor venue and get reacquainted with my sweet wife. The service was timely and personable. Even the Supervisor visited us to see how our evening was going.
We've eaten in the Adobe Grill for many years and generally had very good meals, always enjoying ourselves in an good atmosphere. Unfortunately this time, it was not so and a disappointing evening. The service has always been very fast so we clearly asked for a min 20 mins break between serving our starters and mains. We were barely half way through our starters and the mains arrived. Despite the server's requests (server very friendly) to the kitchen, they ignored him. We sent the mains back and despite a further request they turned up again well before we'd politely asked. When the food did arrive, the quality of the steak in the fajitas was extremely poor (lumps of fat and gristle).
The manager was very apologetic for the service / quality of the food and didn't charge us for the food which was much appreciated.
If you're looking for some tasty margarita's and a fast feed with mains on top of starters then the Adobe Grill is for you. If you're looking for a little more refined evening then this isn't for you.
Didn’t have much of an expectation and boy were we happily surprised. Great fun and relaxing ambience. The food was better than average. We started out with the flower blossom quesadillas followed by the fresh Tuna tostada. We chose the pork pastore and seabass tacos and they were so delicious. All of the food was very fresh. The flan was exceptional. Highly recommend the muddled jalapeño margaritas - absolutely delish. Our server, Maria, had a wonderful and bubbly personality. Request her if you can. The Manager also checked in with us and it was clearly evident, that they really care for their customers. Overall, a terrific experience.
