   Front the house was awful - the 'missing in action' and subsequently disinterested, when finally showing up, hostess was first warning to abort this venue but gave it a try despite the bad first impression! Service was extremely slow and the food is the polar opposite of keeping it simple - discerning the proteins or vegetables you order from the rest of what's going on, is an unsatisfying challenge!

   If dining outside with a water view is your thing, then this is the place to be. We dined and drank all while watching boats go by. The beautiful sunset was icing on the cake. Our experience was outstanding. The food was delicious…we tried the snapper, mushroom lasagna, and gnocchi and we were not disappointed. The drinks were also great but a little expensive. Thanks to our waiter,August, we received the service we look for when dining out. Will we visit again?..most definitely.

   Wonderful food, service and view. Unfortunately there was a very untrained and noisy dog whose owner could not get him to stop barking. Instead of taking the dog away, the owner remained, oblivious to the disturbance his dog was causing for many of the diners.

   The food was simply amazing. The view was gorgeous. Our server was so attentive and made recommendations. I love this place I can’t wait to come back for dinner. You must try the French toast simply delicious.

   Ada's is my favorite restaurant in Alexandria. (I live there.) The food is consistently prepared, and each time I come, the food always tastes better than I remember it. The sauces and sides compliment the main protein well. If you eat octopus, Ada's grills it perfectly. The chocolate souffle is fantastic. It takes 15 to 20 minutes to prepare, so if you don't like waiting for dessert, order it half way through your meal.

    Delicious food!! Expensive but well-priced for the quality of the food. It would have been nice for the server to come check on us a bit more, just because it took a while to get our food order in, and the check. But I highly suggest going, and getting the souffle for dessert :)

    We found the food quality and taste - excellent. Service very good. I would suggest that the cooking staff needs to pay closer attention to the temperature of meat being cooked. My "medium" steak was delivered closer to "well-done."

    The lunch was nearly 60 w/o tip. Which got us cheaply prepared salads w barely any ingredients and skimped KN chicken. My guess less than 4 oz. We drank an ice tea and sparkling water. I expensed it but what a joke I’d make a point to do better. Sheesh

    Excellent service, food & views. Everything was perfect & the dessert offered for a birthday celebration was outstanding & free. I would highly recommend this restaurant for lunch and outdoor dining.

    Interesting place, a fee too many tourist but we like it. Interesting dish last night, pork chop with a jalepeno sauce with grapes. Needed some polenta for a bed but aside from that delicious. Also had shrimp and avocado salad, tasty but underdressed. Need to improve dressing, more citrus and a little oil.

    Service was exceptionally slow. I asked for and then waited for a wine list. Our food arrived but our waiter never came back to check on us or to take a wine order. We finished dinner before he came back to our table so no wine. Also, the flatiron steak was almost too salty to eat.

    This was a great first visit to Ada's on the River. I wanted to try a new place and something a little different for my fiancé's birthday. We had a great night and the food was very tasty. We will definitely be back.

    Eddie was our server and he was very personable and helpful. We were at Ada's to celebrate a friend's 85th birthday. I had requested a nice table in my reservation. They had it all set up for us. It was perfect. Each of my guests said they enjoyed their meal and to top it off, Eddie brought us a complementary dessert with a candle for my friend to blow out. It was a very nice experience. She was happy and I was happy.

    Horrible experience with the server, took our app order and never came to check in on us again for 1.5hrs. So, unfortunately we only managed to try two small plates. Tables next to us had fabulous service, so definitely had a bad server but it ruined the experience for us.

    I would like to start off that management is great by accommodating my brunch party for indoor or outdoor seating. Our favorite server "August" is the best in Old Town Alexandria, so request for him, and he always recommendeds what looks and tastes good for the day as well as upon request substitute ingredients, which makes Ada's on the River my favorite go to Restaurant!! Oh yeah, don't forget to tip your waiters well, they deserve it because they make it a great experience!!!!

    Had a reservation for 3:15. Arrived at 3:10. Seated at 3:25. Sat down, ordered a drink, handed a menu. 5 minutes later, server asked if we were ready to order. We said we would wait for our drink, then order. Sever replied, “ we stop serving at 3:30, then the kitchen closes and we don’t have food service again until 4:00.” We got our drink about 15 minutes later. No food, no chips, no bread, nothing. About 4:10, our server returned with different menus than what we had been given. Now it was time for dinner. It was my birthday. It was awful. Service was awful…not the fault of the server, I attribute it to the restaurant management. Don’t seat people with a reservation for 3:15 at 3:25 and expect them to order within a few minutes when drinks haven’t arrived- no food, no drinks, no bread…no chips- drink was terrible (mojito) , sent it back. Waited 20 minutes, same drink was brought back. When the server returned 25 minutes later, I told her it was still awful. She suggested another drink, and told me the bartender was different so maybe it would be good. I ordered what she suggested and I was still charged for both drinks. Even though the food was good, the overall experience was unacceptable. It was my birthday.

    Great location! The cocktails were very good, but the service was very slow, which resulted in lukewarm food. Portion size was good and food looked like it would have been good quality otherwise. However, we rarely saw our waiter and ended up spending our entire evening in the restaurant as a result of the slow service.

    Not impressed. Chicken was very over cooked. Salad portion was small. Price was not comparable to quality. Restaurant was nearly empty which should have warned us. Server was great though, no issues there.
