Acropolis in Evansville, Indiana opened in 2000 and has been providing delicious options for lunch, dinner and catering since. The eatery offers quality Greek food for a dine-in option. It also has private rooms for those who may be holding events. Some of the appetizers on the menu include dolmades, stuffed mushrooms, calamari and gyro meatballs.

Acropolis offers a range of specialties. Try the gyros platter, lamb shanks, moussaka, vegetarian pesto and the seafood spinach. You can also enjoy pork chops, rib eye, lamb ribs, rack of lamb, mini pork shanks and more. Sandwiches and burgers are available at Acropolis, too.

The hostess had NO record of the Open Table reservation made three days before the dinner date. We showed her the confirmatory email (on cell phone) but it made no difference, as we sat, watched, and waited as others with reservations were directly seated.
Food is good, and should be recognized as that. The restaurant featured tasty fresh food, ample servings, and a decent variety of menu offerings, albeit a minority of more authentic Greek dishes. The wine list offered a solid variety of choices at reasonable prices. It should be recognized that one should not expect anything near a fine dining experience.
Why the recomendation? Acropolis is what it is, which would be a good (not great)regional opportunity to sample tasty food.

We enjoyed our dinner very much. This was a special occasion, my wife's birthday, and this was our first time at Acropolis. Our only problem was they didn't have us on their reservation list. I had received a confirmation from Open Table but evidently Acropolis didn't receive it. Fortunately for us there were tables available and we were seated immediately in a very nice spot upstairs.
