ACQUA - White Bear Lake Ratings and Reviews
The food was absolutely magnificent; both my wife and I said they were as good or better than anything similar we've ever had. Unfortunately, I can't remember the name of the tall gentleman (whom I learned later has been working for the manager for eight years), but he was working the lower-level front room, with the view of the lake. He gets 10 stars!
Food was good except for the mushrooms soup. Not good! Overall a nice evening with a big price tag. Without the Groupon I would not go here for what I got serving size and over all almost worth the price but just not quite there in terms of food flavor. At that price I want the food to wow me. Not just say yah it was good.
Went to Acqua for a birthday dinner with my fiancé. We had been here last fall and were very impressed with the Chicken Picatta and Salmon dishes then. This time I had a New York strip ad she had Chicken Marsala. Again, the dishes were prepared very well. The steak was very good. We plan to take a trip to Acqua again in the near future. Very satisfying experience each time.
I love Auqua! We discovered this neighborhood gem through Groupon and have been back twice! The four course meal is an incredible value, especially when you consider the amount and quality of the fine dining meal. It is worth the drive from the southern Twin Cities to its location in White Bear Lake. We have ordered their pork shank, tiger shrimp, salmon and filet entrees, all of which would gladly be ordered again. Our service by Patricia was stellar with personality and professionalism. This restaurant is a quaint atmosphere on the waterfront with an entire upstairs of seating. We will definitely return!
We had a wonderful anniversary dinner upstairs next to the fireplace. There was a full moon sparkling over the lake for a perfect view. The food was fabulous. I had the chicken with mushroom sauce, spinach salad, and creme brulet. My husbands steak was done perfectly, and he loved the corn chowder soup. Our waitress was pleasant and kind. The only issue was I ordered a wine flight. She misunderstood and only brought the first glass of wine. by the end of dinner I inquired about the next flight. Then she felt bad, brought the 2nd glass for free in compensation, but i missed out on the dessert flight. Acqua is our favorite place and we would still recommend it.
Great service and delicious food. The dining room was pretty full for a Wednesday night but I could still easily hold a conversation at normal volume. I just had one small gripe; our server made it sound as though soup was included with our meal, but it ended up costing $10 each for two cups of soup. Shame on me for not clarifying, but $10 is pretty ridiculous for a cup of soup. A little more transparency would've been better, but overall it was a good dining experience and I would go again.
