ACQUA - Forest Lake Ratings and Reviews
This restaurant is a favorite of mine. The restaurant is gorgeous and the view is Forest Lake -- perfect. Every dinner I've had there was great. My birthday brunch was disappointing. The bacon was good and those that had the sausage and biscuits and the eggs benedict were happy (although the hash browns were "chewy"). The hash is not good -- very dry. Two people ordered the hash as their main meal - it came with a sauce that helped with the dryness but they had to watch what they were eating because they kept pulling out big pieces of fat. When they have the Sunday brunch buffet, the food is great. We want to keep going there for regular breakfast because of the setting but the sides need attention. Decent toast selection (not the texas toast, one skinny dry piece of white bread) and good potatoes. At dinner I give Acqua FL an excellent, summer brunch an excellent, winter brunch a fair. Please improve. I love this place.
The food was fabulous! We came in late with a groupon and was given a window seat overlooking the lake. (Not put in the back because we had a groupon😀)The ambience was outstanding. The waitress we had was so friendly and outgoing, (she had a 10 year old daughter with a sledding birthday the next day) unfortunately cannot remember her name but we will definitely return for the wonderful service!
My husband and I had never been there before. We received a Groupon for Christmas and it was excellent from the beginning to the end. Valet at the start, to dessert! Food was exceptional, service was amazing, atmosphere was so welcoming. We will be coming back!!
The restaurant is very nice, it took quite a long time to get our coffee and then we did get it it was cold and had to be replaced and it took quite a while to get the food and it was not very busy at all in there. I also could not believe you charge $4 for 1 cup of coffee!!
Group of 6 got together to celebrate an anniversary- wonderful table on a miserably cold night right in front of the fireplace. The ambiance was perfect, the friends gathered were great, food was great, the server......very unfriendly & rude. Caught her doing the eye rolls a few times. Very uncomfortable. Was too bad especially since the previous time our server was phenomenal.
There are two Acqua restaurants in the area with similar menus but the Forest Lake location has superior views, a more pleasing interior and is well worth the drive from the Metro. In the summer, the outside dining is particularly enchanting. At our latest visit, my wife had the lobster and I chose the prime rib. These would not be our normal choices but we were interested to see if Acqua excelled in these more prosaic dishes as they have done in more sophisticated offerings. I am pleased to say that these dishes too were both tasty and delicious.
We will return.
We ate here on a groupon and had a wonderful time! We met friends here for dinner and it was actually quite enough we could hear each other talk. The atmosphere was very pleasant. We would return here even without a groupon, the service and the food were outstanding:)
The food and ambiance were as good as ever. The only issue I had was that I was expecting a Sunday Brunch buffet rather than a brunch menu selection. The absence of the brunch buffet was not made clear at any time in the reservation process. We really love the brunch buffet!
Staff and service are exceptional, food was great from pork shank to lobster risotto. Soup was OK and salads were good. The butterscotch pudding dessert was a bit heavy on the caarmel sauce but the flourless chocolate cake with a raspberry cream was fabulous. Party of 7 and everyone agreed we will return even with distance nearly 40 minute drive. Best GF bread and made on site.
Been here several times before and really loved it! This time, half the food was great (beet salad, shrimp and scallops, dessert waffle. The salmon had great flavor, but undercooked a bit and my son who had the prime rib spent more calories than he took in from cutting it. Overall, very good service and scenery!
Acqua is a great value with the $40 3 course prix fix dinner option. We elected to take advantage of it and enjoyed our entrees, salads and desserts. The prime rib was very tender and the tiger shrimp with pasta was tasty. Cocktails were excellent as was the service. This restaurant deserves more business as the ambiance is pleasant and relaxing and the prices are reasonable for the quality of the food and service. There are so few fine dining restaurants in the northern suburbs that I certainly hope we don't lose this one.
