We return to Acqua in Forest Lake year around with various friends. No one in our groups have ever been disappointed with their food. There are always great specials offered along with the standard menu, which is awesome by itself. The service can be a little slow at times, but we are rarely in a hurry while there, but the wait is worth it.
Great time until the mosquitoes came out! Great food.
Service was wonderful as well as efficient! Great atmosphere, right on the lake, complimentary valet and amazing food!
We had our first visit to Acqua and it was to celebrate our anniversary. It was a great meal and affordable too. We had the prime rib and risotto and the s'mores dessert. Well worth it! Service was good, food was timely, everything was great on a Saturday evening.
A wonderful place for dinner with family. The food was delicious and the service was great. We'll be back.
We sat out side on the porch, beautiful evening, great sunset, food was excellent. My wife had the fresh made gnocchi, our guest had the scallops, and I had the salmon over spinach and potatoes, everyone loved their dinners. We finished it off with their chocolate soufflé with graham cracker ice cream and melted marshmallow, perfecto! Service was excellent. Thank you Acqua team!
Food was wonderful, service was friendly and attentive, but not overly so. Very enjoyable.
First time at Acqua and truly enjoyed the evening!
Excellent food and our server was fabulous. Everything was perfect for our evening celebrating my husband’s birthday.
I had the crab legs wasn’t the easiest to eat and difficult to remove meat(over cooked possibly)where as my wife’s were perfect.....
Mother Daughters Dinner
Small portions on appetizer for the price. Food was excellent and atmosphere on the patio was great.
Our meal took 2.5 hours to be served. The desserts were very good but the entrees were uninspired.
This was a birthday and anniversary celebration for 7 people (4 adults, 2 teens and 1 child). Only the Sunday brunch menu was being offered. When we arrived, we were placed in the room to the right of the bar. The room was empty and we were seated at a window overlooking the parking lot although a another table of the same size was available with a view of the outside diners and a little bit of Forest Lake. We requested that table instead. The waitress was new, couldn't answer basic questions and had to keep asking the manager at the front (e.g. are mimosas included, how much are they). With very little service (it is a buffet), we received our bill with an added 20 percent gratuity - and were charged for 7 adults and 1 child. I explained to the server that we only had 7 people and one of them was 9. She talked to the manager and he came over to ask if there was a problem. I explained to the manager that only 7 people were here and we were charged for 8 people. By the time we left, the entire restaurant was empty because it apparently took a long time to adjust the bill. I have dined here many times before, but this was by far the worst experience.
It made a wonderful surprise for my wife for our anniversary. Great service and very tasty brunch selection. She very much enjoyed the salmon for brunch!
Our brunch was outstanding! Huge variety of food-salad bar, eggs, potatoes, roast beef, sausages, bacon, cheese plate, waffles, pancakes, fresh veggies, dessert table and mimosas for $3! We were able to sit outside and enjoy the beautiful day and lake side. The service was fabulous with wait staff everywhere to assist in your dining needs. The brunch was $15.99 and well worth the price. Definitely will be going back again soon.
Went on a Saturday Evenong, had perfect timing and was able to get a table on patio looking towards the lake. Very nice. Server was prompt and knowledgeable, food was delicious, and the live music was very good. If the meals were cheaper I could see coming regularly but I think it is still a good value for a date night or special occasion.
Wonderful meal on the outdoor patio overlooking the lake.
As usual a great experience at Acqua! Celebrating our wedding anniversary with great food and service! We wilk be back again.
This was my fourth visit to Acqua and every time has been fantastic. The service the reservations were accurate the Ambiance was excellent the food was absolutely wonderful no complaints whatsoever. It is one of our favorite restaurants and we can't wait to go back again
This is my favorite restaurant to eat or to have drinks. Very high quality food and drink. Always creative, delicious options to choose from. I love the outdoor patio on the lake. I will be back!
Love this place!
As always, the food was outstanding but the experience was not what we have experienced in the past. First, there were flys and gnats everywhere so we spent most of our meal swatting then away (plus that’s kind of gross). Second, our waitress did not seem very interested in attending to us. She was the only server for about 6-7 tables so I know that she was busy but we felt very neglected and almost left since it took 10 minutes for her to come and take our order. The whole thing was very off-putting and awkward. We will be back because we love the food but hope for a better experience next time.
This is a difficult review to write because we have been going to Acqua-Forest Lake since they first opened. When they first opened I gave them high marks across the board.... there food was top notch, the service was great, the manager was always there as well as the owner, and it was a nicer place to go for a celebration.
Over the years we have watched the restaurant go down hill. I would say all together we have been to A-FL at least 25 times. The decline really started when they lost their main manager. He would remember a face, come check on your table and he made sure everything was running smoothly.
Since his departure..... we never know who the manager is, the server we have had the last three times gives us attitude and is far from friendly (possibly because we don't drink and she really wants to push the up priced alcohol for a higher tip?), they are trying to cut corners (cutting out valet, etc.), the food just wasn't as good as it used to be, and the one thing that made our most recent visit our last visit is their lack of identity!
As I stated before, it used to be a great place to have a nice dinner.... but now..... they still have the white linen table cloths in the dinning room, but they also have a bar where shirtless people coming walking up to it (from their boat) with a cigarette in their hand to get a pizza to go. We were seated at a nice table with huge windows looking out at the lake and right in front of our table stood a guy and his buddy finishing their cigarettes with no shirts on... how appetizing for my wife's birthday dinner!!
They need to decide if they are a boat-dive bar or a nice restaurant!! We will probably still go to their White Bear Lake location, but we are done with Forest Lake!
Server might be new/inexperienced, but she definitely hasn’t figured it put yet. Very slow to react to requests. Other servers seemed to be working very hard and fast, so pretty sure it was just our server. Food was ok but somewhat inconsistent. Chicken club came with not one but two grilled chicken breasts while the french dip barely had any meat in it. Prime ribs were generous, but cooed their way, not as ordered - still very good.
It was very noisy. Much more than other times we visited. Tables were closely packed in room, which added to the noise level. Entrees were delicious - we had walleye and halibut - but portions were smaller than expected. Server was attentive and made good wine recommendation. Overall still a good experience, but not the romantic atmosphere we were hoping for our anniversary.
Nice patio on Forest Lake. Delicious food. Our waitress was very pleasant.
This was our third or fourth visit to the restaurant and the first time we've had an entree that was less than outstanding. The halibut and risotto was wonderful but the prime rib was mediocre at best. Tough and kind of gristly. Perhaps it was because our reservation was one of the first ones of the day. We'll probably be back but we definitely won't be ordering the prime rib.
This trip to Acqua was average at best. We did do a reservation and state that it was our anniversary which I guess no one even acknowledges anymore. (Then why ask?)
Our food was very average. I had the halibut & risotto which did not have much flavor. The prime rib was very good though. We enjoyed our stay and our server was great.
Lovely spot outside with an engaging and capable server. However, for $38 I would have expected my fish to not be dry and bland. Additionally, our dessert—a waffle with ice cream—clearly sat for some time before being brought out to us, as it was already melting all over the plate.
Iris was the most rude wait person with no personality and did less than minimal service for us. Never asked about another drink, didn’t care if we liked our food was curt and rude. The food was great
Great Food and service with a beautiful view by the lake. The outdoor area is more casual than the interior and I guess it might get pretty hot during summer (we went on the afternoon with a nice breeze).
We live nearby and have gone to Acqua quite often. Last night was the absolute worst! Our waitress was taking care of tables on both the inside and outside. We came at the conclusion of happy hour so the main focus appeared to be bringing all last minute sets of cheap wine and beer to the happy hour crowd rather than taking care of tables ordering dinner and the regular priced drinks. I can’t believe there are TVs now placed in the dining room area. Is this now a bar and grill? We were given cold bread with no plates for it before our drink order was taken. The special salad was excellent and that is all I can say went well with this dinner. Our food was over cooked and bland. I had to get up and walk to a table with a party that had left to obtain pepper which didn’t help the risotto anyways. We did not bother with dessert as it most likely would have also been a great disappointment. It will be a long time before we return, if we do.
the last 3 times we`ve been to Aqua the food has been sub par.We have crossed this restaurant off our list and will not return
Usually Acqua is very reliable but we caught them on a really bad night. Couldn't seat our 6 pm reservation until 6:30, Couldn't get a drink waiting 20 minutes at the bar. Flies on our dining table, decided to cut our losses and walk after 45 minutes.
Apparently they don't staff correctly for a nice evening on the lake. We had a 6pm reservation and didn't even get seated until 6:45 because their "kitchen was busy". There were open tables everywhere so we were quite confused. To add insult to ingery, my wife can't have gluten for medical reasons and her sad had a big crouton in the middle. We won't be going back here ever again.
Amazing service and food!!
Food was very good. The restaurant seating area was not very busy on a Sunday evening but they appeared to be understaffed with only 1 waitress in the dinning area. The staff was very friendly just needed more of them. I would recommend going there for the food but be aware that you might be there for awhile.
Four of us arrived at 11:30 am, great selection for brunch with good flavors; especially loved the lasagna. We ordered Mimosa's and coffee which came promptly and we were checked on often for coffee refills; love their Lavassa brand coffee and raw sugar cubes. Buffet plates were removed as soon as we went back for more. It was a quiet day as it was sunny and warm and the lake was buzzing with activity and fun to watch - great lake views! We will be back!
We made reservations for 4, my friend drove an hour to meet us and when we arrived they said it was closed for a wedding. Very disappointed and a needless drive. We have wanted to go there for a while and have heard good things but you need a better reservation system.
