It was good, they offer a 5 pasta vegetarian sampler for two. It was great and very tasty but could have ate more. Everything was good and it was very reasonably priced, I will be back.

Exceptionally good food, one of the best Italian restaurants in the city. The lunch special is a superb deal.

As always here, great food and service - the weekday lunch special is one of the best values in DC, and the flourless chocolate cake is a must.

The overall tone at Acqua al 2 is warm and friendly. The decor and style of service emphasize the informality of this restaurant, while the friendly professionalism of the staff and the quality of the food make this a place for fine dining. There is a good selection of wines by the glass as well as by the bottle. On a warm day it is fun to watch the goings on at the Market across the street. We are New Yorkers who intend to return to Acqua Al 2 whenever we are in DC.

We've gone to Acqua al 2 several times and always enjoy the food. However, we will not be ordering the pasta sampler again. Though they charge each person $15, so the portion should increase, this definitely did not occur. There were three of us dining, however the server accidentally brought out our first pasta plate to the couple at the table next to us. After they explained that that was not their order he left and returned with the exact same plate and portion. In fact, when we divided the pastas between the three of us, we each only received 3 pieces of pasta, and this occurred with almost all of the pasta plates.

Food was so so.. two razor thin slices of eggplant in parmagiano appetizer. Refused to add additional vegetables to the frittatas even though we offered to add the cost if a side vegetable. Bread was good. Drinks expensive for brunch. Better options on the Hill.

Terrific and authentic Italian with the only possible weakness is there is a limited amount of fish items on the menu. That said, the tuna carpaccio appetizer is excellent!

This was our first time at the D.C. Acqua al 2, but we have eaten at their locations in Florence and San Diego multiple times. The food at this one was up to par with the others, especially the filet with balsamlic sauce, but the service at our outdoor table started off very poorly, with a delay in taking drink orders, 5-10 min wait for menus and inability to complete the basic task of pouring ice water (server ran out part way through our table of 5 and never returned). This was not what we expected given that we had a reservation and the restaurant was only partially filled. After discussing the subpar experience with the waiter, service improved but still left us with a somewhat disappointed feeling at the end.

Four college roommates who still get together after some 30 years found this to be a perfect way to end our delightful stay in Washington DC. Our waiter was knowledgeable, helpful and appropriately attentive. The food was quite good. Fun ambience. Saw quite a few date night couples. Seems to be a popular place and understandable so. Only down sides, an overdressed salad, a little warm in the restaurant itself, and water glasses were not filled up as much as needed, given the temperature of the room. Overall, a fun nieghborhood spot with great pasta and good wine choices.

The food was fabulous. For a party of four, we each ordered different items. The two risottos and the two pastas were flavorful, and the chef was able to change some of the ingredients for one of the risottos. The sauces were just as expected: tasty.

We would change two things.
1) Would have loved to received OpenTable points for the reservation.
2) The service could have been improved. The appetizer came out after the salad and only a minute or two before the main course. And it took awhile for our check to arrive. However, the person who took our plates and brought us bread and kept our water glasses full was very attentive and helpful. He is an asset.

I like having this restaurant in the neighborhood. Had heard so much about it.

Food is good, not exceptional; but the selection is wonderful as is the wine list. Their dessert "tasting" choice is perfect. Four samples of the their big sellers that two or even three can easily share. It's one of the nicest restaurants in Eastern Market with regard to ambiance and choice of entrees. It can be noisy from 7 to 10 pm on popular nights (Friday/Saturday) so the outdoor option is nice when the weather permits.

My first experience at Acqua Al 2 was in Florence, Italy. I fell in love with the place. When I heard about the DC "clone" I was thrilled. The Burata with spaghetti squash, honey and pomegranate seeds was outstanding. Gnocchi was delicate and sauced to perfection. Tagliata, which was seasoned and cooked perfectly, took me back to Florence. Acqua Al 2 in DC does an exceptional job of recreating what I experienced in Italy. I will definitely return.

Went in a group of three on a weeknight.....ordered two apps from the specials list, an arugula salad and a pumpkin/mushroom ravioli...both were excellent. Two of us ate sea bass as our main courses again from the special list. Simply superb...the one vegetarian in our crowd had the gnocchi....again excellent! This was our second time to this restaurant, we find it easy to get to via metro from our home in Northern Virginia and well worth the trip. The atmosphere and superb service (at every station) is only out done by the incredible talent in the kitchen!! We will be back!

The food is of high quality and more than acceptable variety. The occasion was our son's birthday and the choice was made in part because he had gone to the location in Florence Italy a number of years ago when he was studying there.
He as thrilled with the choice and was not disappointed.

The staff was friendly and service attentive. Depite the fact that I mentioned in the reservation that it was my son's birthday no particular special attention was made to that other than the host wishing him a Happy Birthday.

The price seemed a bit high but not prohibitive.

The food here is always exceptional. We started with burrata (sp.) and risotto balls, both of which were excellent. I had gnocchi, which were so tender they practically fall apart before the fork hit my mouth. The semifreddo dessert is perfect, although the cookie that accompanies it is dry.

The meal was superb. Especially the pasta sampler. Each dish was unique--some better than others, but all outstanding. While the veal was very good, it did not live up to the pasta. The complimentary champagne before the meal and aperitif afterwards were appreciated since we were celebrating an anniversary and a birthday.

Acqua Al 2 is delightful. It is recommended to start with the Caprese salad; the buffalo mozzarella was some of the best I have ever had. The entree of chicken was mediocre, but the side of oven roasted potatoes made up for that. Yummy dessert, great wine, and super service make this a place worth the visit.

I took my wife for her birthday. The food is fantastic. We had the meat and cheese appetizer which was good and small enough not to be filling. A pasta dish that we shared but was so good that I will refuse to ever eat at an Olive Garden ever again. We had a steak for two for the main course with a side of potatoes. It is one of the best steaks I have ever eaten. Finally the four mini same desserts tgat you'll be lucky to share with!

My husband's appetizer and maincourse were delicious. He had the mozzarella and a fabulous steak. I am the other hand did not have a successful experience. I ordered a pasta dish. i did not know that they serve all their pasta al dente. Mine was extremely chewy. In addition, I can't eat cream sauce and this was served in cream sauce which was not indicated on the menu. My tuna and arugula appetizer was very tasty but salty. And the side of spinach wasn't anything special but also too salty. We would return if we both decided we wanted to order steak. Through it all the waitstaff was very nice.
