Amazing experience. Can't wait to return!
We had the pasta sampler and a steak. The pasta was nothing special—could have been from Harris Teeter and I wouldn’t have noticed. The steak was great—a tiny bit fatty but cooked spectacularly. Service was perfectly average.
Overall it was a fine experience but not a good value proposition. For the sampler, two entrees, and two glasses of wine we spent $170. An equal or better experience could be had for half that.
Great dining experience. Awesome food and excellent service. Only issue - the menus were spotted with oil and red wine; should be presented with clean menus - dirty ones do not give a positive first impression. Have been here several times and it is always such a marvelous food experience.
Everything about Acqua Al 2 shines, from first course to last. I don't often eat steak, but had to on recommendation, and the Filetto all’Aceto Balsamico was the most tender and satisfying I've ever had.
Went to celebrate my husband’s birthday, and it was fantastic as usual. We always get the pasta sampler, and it never disappoints. I highly recommend it for a special occasion, or just for a date night.
Special Birthday Celebration!
Boris was great!!!
Second time at the restaurant...from CHARLESTON SC.
The food was scrumptious with professional staff. The pesto gnocchi was especially delectable!
The restaurant was in a decent location in DC, and had some available parking spaces in front. We had to wait a bit for our tables even with the reservations, but when we asked to be moved to a different table due to slight draft we felt, they were more than nice to accommodate us. The food was great as expected, the steak was nice and tender. Most of all, our server was very personable and knowledgeable. He was able to give a good recommendation on a selection of wine, and also gave us a proper suggestion on how much food to order (we went for the pasta sampler and the steak sampler - which he told us should be plenty without appetizer order prior to having them). I would go back to the restaurant to try other dishes.
The meal was excellent but the restaurant was very crowded and also very very noisy.
One of the best Italian Restaurants in DC, this place is a must for great sauces and ambiance of old world Italy
Very good, reasonably authentic Italian by DC standards. Pastas were very good as was eggplant parmigiana appetizer. Pleasant ambiance as well.
The hostess was extremely put off by our 1127am arrival for our 1130am reservation. The waitress was scarce at best. The table helper was extremely great and congenial. When I dine here in my suit, I get much better service than I did in my construction clothes...makes me wonder. Either way, my wife’s birthday meal was a success and that is what truly mattered with this lunch.
Amazing service and gourmet food as always
A lovely neighborhood place to have quality Italian food. The appetizers and main dishes are lovely, some even outstanding. The pasta is delicious, but overpriced. The outside terrace is fabulous.
Never disappoints! Been to the DC one many times and even their sister restaurant in Florence. Food couldn't be more authentic.
We live just a few blocks away and walked by it many times. My wife and I went for a special occasion and were really surprised at how good it was. The ambiance is amazing, our server was very attentive and responsive. We each had an appetizer, split a pasta dish (gnocchi that was awesome), mains, and split a dessert. The main course was a little slow coming out, but it didn't matter, everything was perfectly cooked and authentic. It's a little pricey but totally worth it. We will be going back soon and will take friends there.
Great food, great service. I have been to their sister restaurant in Florence and this location was just as good. I found my go-to Italian restaurant in DC
We had a lovely meal in a lovely setting. We all ordered very different dishes and lived them all. Great meal!
Interesting choices on the menu, but the food was amazing.
Wonderful experience! Ate at the Florence, Italy location in 2017 so had to eat here as well. Shareif was our waiter. He was great and made our experience the best it could be.
We sat outside so the noise level was minimal. The patio was very pleasant
Food was fabulous! Staff was very friendly. My daughter had the blueberry steak in their restaurant in Florence, Italy and said it was just as good here in DC. I really enjoyed the linguine with clams. Can’t wait to go back!
What a great, extensive menu. For a sometimes vegetarian it gave lots of options. The food was delicious We had a nice booth that allowed us to talk easily and the service was efficient and prompt. Great place for dinner!
We were immediately seated for our 8 person reservation. Our waiter was very attentive to our wine and dining selections. The pasta course of 5-6 pastas was delicious and eclectic. The tomahawk steaks were perfectly prepared at medium rare. A totally delightful evening
This is the best restaurant in D.C. hands down. They have a location in Florence we had been to when traveling in Italy and we were amazed when they opened one in D.C.. I now bring all my favorite visitors here for a nice dinner out. The balsamic steak is a MUST
I’ve never had a meal I didn’t like here! Today, I opted for the spicy fusilli and it was out of this world. Our server asked if I’d prefer mild or full spice, and I went for full spice. I was NOT disappointed.
Acqua al 2 made our anniversary special with a free dessert and overall a delicious meal. But we ordered the vegetarian pasta sampler (and felt like our server could have provided more information about it), and we felt a bit rushed as each portion came out before we could barely finish/appreciate the previous portion. Also with a different server bringing each portion, my husband didn't receive the hot sauce he'd requested.
Acqua Al 2 was excellent! The food and ambience were excellent. Fortunately, these factors outweighed the rudeness of our waitress.
Dinner with our kids. Two live in dc. We live in New York. We eat at Acqua every time we visit dc. The food is delicious and the service is excellent. Highly recommend.
Chicken and steak were chewy 😢
Waiter was never around when we needed him
They had run out of peroni beer, I would have thought a staple in any Italian restaurant -poor
Just very poor overall
Our group was quite impressed with the atmosphere, service and food. Acqua Al 2 is second to none!
Overall, most of the food was overcooked. The chicken was dry, the pasta was rubbery, and the cheese spinach balls were burnt in spots on the top. The spinach side was bland. With a bill getting close to $200 I'm not impressed at all, and would not return. The only pro was that the server was very polite and nice.
Aa2 is an all time favorite of mine. My friends and I go straight to the salad tasting menu, the pasta tasting menu and then one (it’s a monster) Bisteca Florintina. Delicious. Nice wine list and professional servers who are friendly attentive and retiring rather than hovering.
A fabulous evening with friends over a lovely bottle of wine and a spectacular meal! The gnocchi were perfectly delicate, light and fluffy pillows which allowed the the sauce to shine. The fusilli was cooked perfectly al dente gently coated with an eggplant red sauce. For the secondi, we had the soft-shell crab special and the sliced New York Strip! After dinner, we had some amazing specialty cocktails at Harold Black. Perfect evening
Everything was good from the appetizer with eggplant, to the pasta and chicken and the vanilla bean custard! Service was great as well. I will be back!
Ordered the Brunch frittata with prosciutto, which was terrific. The eggs were firm (not runny), as I prefer and the salad on top made for a light breakfast/lunch repast. The ambiance hearkens back to a Europe and the service was terrific (accommodated my celiac dietary needs). Only recommendation would be that the brunch menu also include a list of brunch drinks (mimosa, etc.).
Great food. The green peppercorn NY strip was amazing. The service was fast and courteous.
The atmosphere was great, it was a little noisy, but in that everyone is having a good time way. The food was amazing, the bread and oil were delicious, our server was very attentive. We ended with dessert, but we as so full from the meal, we couldn’t even finish it.
Fantastic food, ambience and service. Highly recommended.
Easily the worst service I have received in years. Doubt if I return.
