You have to get a bagel! Cocktails were so delicious. Service was kind and professional.
Server was excellent. Menu was somewhat limited esp for Mother’s Day. But food was excellent
Took my mother in law to dinner for Mother’s Day! My wife and I love the restaurant. The menu was amazing as ever, as was the service. We even got to say hi to chef Steve. Great dinner!
Nice to see this neighborhood gem open again.
Excellent. A bit greasy on the Brussels and it would be nice to add some salads to the menu. Trout was excellent .
A wonderful meal @ Acorn! Delicious, fresh, creative cuisine and outstanding drinks with a hip but unpretentious vibe. Our server helped us make great choices with every course. We’ll definitely return whenever we visit Pittsburgh!
Our food was excellent, especially the beignets and the brussels sprout starter! I appreciated that they accommodated my request to change to my sides from what was on the menu. Our server, who was also one of the bartenders, was very friendly and attentive.
We had Ashley for our waitress and she was kind, knew the menu, and we never had to wait for a refill.
The menu had a great selection and the food was delicious!
Dinner was so good we came back the next morning for brunch. Both experiences/food were top notch, and the cocktails were some of the best we have ever had. Ashley was phenomenal. She was our waitress, crafted our cocktails, and gave us solid advice on what to do in Pittsburgh. Her positive attitude and attentiveness put our experience at Acorn over-the-top.
Waiter was very formal and attentive. Most of the food was really good; Brussels sprouts are amazing, fish appetizer was bland. Nice atmosphere; bathroom is sort of dumpy. Overall really good; but the price seems too high to me..perhaps because they are going for fine dining. Still, there are many amazing restaurants in Pittsburgh that have a less pretentious price.
Excellent spot for “date nite”. Wait staff are attentive and 5he food offerings are very good. I was a little nervous about the limited menu but the variety was great! Highly recommend this gem.
We took our college sons to dinner during a visit and the service was spectacular and host so accommodating. We will dine again
The staff were awesome! Food delicious and the cocktails/mock tails outstanding! Definitely going back! Their everything bagel was just that Everything!!! Well done!
Wonderful service!! Best everything bagel I’ve ever had!
Acorn is the best restaurant that we go to in Pittsburgh. It’s a restaurant that we compare other restaurants to when we’re away. The dishes are brilliant. We are always well treated by the staff.
This is a real gem I’m glad it was busy when we were there on Saturday and I look forward to many wonderful meals in the future.
Very good food + service, highly accomodating and friendly staff.
The food here was amazing- we had the Brussel sprouts, charred cauliflower, trout, and carrot cake. Our server Jared was amazing at giving recommendations and the food was paced really well. I’ve always wanted to try this place, and the seasonal menu was incredible fresh and there were honestly no bad choices to be made. I’ll be coming back again for sure. I will say the restaurant fills up and is a bit loud so just expect that
Kudos to the chef for extremely delicious and creative renditions of various dishes. The cauliflower and the Brussels sprouts appetizers were really outstanding. We had the salmon and the pork tenderloin entrees, which were both very good, but not as “wow” delicious as the appetizers. Service was excellent, too. The prices are high but so is the quality of the food served. Highly recommend.
Food was good, probably 10-15% higher than I’d like . Chef has serious talent and it’s worth the price in my opinion as you won’t get flavor combinations like that elsewhere in the area. Carrot cake was a great finish
Best Beignets in Pittsburgh, great craft drinks and Sunday brunch faire
Amazing food and excellent service. Nice bar menu also.
Food is outstanding and interesting. Had Sunday brunch- delicious!Great cocktails and mocktails. Nice Waiter
Slow service. It took them over an hour to bring my table the salmon entree, which was about 4oz of salmon that tasted the same as the frozen one from whole foods. Delicious, but not worth the wait especially considering that pandemic procedures suggest not keeping tables for too much over 90 minutes. The table next to me never even got their appetizer in over 75 minutes and ended up leaving hungry. Waste of a night.
Amanda we are very sorry to hear about your experience with us. We hope you can give us another opportunity to prove that this visit is not what you can expect from us at Acorn. Please email us at hello@acornpgh so we can make up for your disappointing dining experience with us. Thanks!
Place is horrible. Ordered an over priced bottle of wine and two entrees on Saturday night. Over an hour later we were still waiting for entrees so canceled mine and took the Pappardelle to go. It looked more like an opening night than a standard Saturday. The Pappardelle was the second worst thing my partner and I have ever eaten at that price point ever. I would not waste the money on this spot. Other than location they do not have much to offer.
Matthew we are sorry to hear about your experience with us. We hold ourselves to a much higher standard than the experience you describe and we want to offer to make that up to you. Please email us at Hello@acornpgh and we will hopefully be able to convince you to give us another chance. Thanks!
Change Motto to “Microwave to Table” not Farm to Table! We did not order appetizers but our dinner came in 5 minutes, even before our Cocktails! The truffle pasta had lots of mushrooms but definitely Not truffle and it tasted like soap. The salmon had black apple & celeriac which the microwave compromised their texture!
Nancy we are very sorry to hear about your experience with us. We understand our food will not be loved by all but we did want to clarify that we actually do not even own a microwave at the Restaurant. We hope you give us another chance in the future. Thanks!
Brunch Review: What an excellent food experience! The Fish Tacos are 3 to an order, and there were 3 of us, so we chose them as our appetizer. The Cod had a light crispness to the exterior and tasted really fresh. And the combination of ingredients in the tacos (watermelon radish, queso fresco, etc) was amazing. Our next “must try” is the Quiche. WOW! It had a crust semblance of a Dutch baby, lots of mushrooms and was just plain delicious.
The rest: the Tito’s Bloody Mary was a treat to look at, just beautifully presented and garnished. The coffee was really really good coffee. The Pancakes were absolutely lovely. We were glad we shared them alongside our entrees, because to eat them as an dish by itself would be pretty heavy.
As far as price point, it’s a little high, but I’m just glad to pay it and happy that this restaurant made it through the stress of the pandemic.
One side note, the Carrot Cake seemed a stretch at $12. The portion was quite small, and if I hadn’t re-read the website menu after leaving I wouldn’t have understood that the sauce was possibly an light apricot cream cheese.
Most interesting end to the review- we noticed that everyone who dined there left smiling big smiles, thanking the staff on their way out, and seeming genuinely happy and appreciative as they walked past our table to the front door! Our server was Ashley, and she was adorable! She made us feel very at home, and embraced our many questions about the food, the seating and the artwork.
This is a MUST VISIT RESTAURANT in Pittsburgh!!!
Good food and excellent service. Good quality and delicious food. One star is less because did not like the coffee flavour. Enjoyed our breakfast over all.
Great spot for brunch. We enjoyed the hash and the quiche. We also split an order of the pancakes just so we could try them. We absolutely loved everything! Signature cocktails were fun and delicious. Service was excellent!
A great Sunday Brunch for easter. The menu had many good choices among a small assortment. I had the short rib hash and it was excellent. A good casual vibe where it is clear the chef takes great pride in their work.
We selected Acorn for brunch because they said that they had Vegan dishes and Gluten Free options, but the brunch selection for these items were few and the menu did not identify which fit these categories. My daughter ordered the bagel with avocado smear, but when it arrived she discovered it had cheese in the smear. They were able to remake the item without cheese, but the menu did not specify that there was cheese in the dish. The fish tacos didn't contain gluten, but the fish was fried in the same fryer with gluten items. This might sound nit-picky but when you have food allergies or are vegan, these details matter. Ultimately, the food was delicious and our server was great.
The food was amazing!!! There was hand sanitizer on each table which was much appreciated and the staff was incredibly kind. (Get the pancakes!)
Unable to conduct a conversation, loud music and packed restaurant for weekend brunch. Very generous salmon in bagel/lox, very tasty. Fish tacos had a lot of jalapenos on top of them, next time would ask them to be removed, or put on the side. Lovely green salad with fish tacos.......
Although busier this time we went, staff went above and beyond. great food and service
Easily one of my top 5 restaurants in Pittsburgh. Food is excellent, along with impeccable service. You can see and taste the passion behind the food the that is being served at Acorn. Always has you coming back, hungry for more...
Impressed. First time there. The food was great and my server was fantastic!!
The food at acorn was quite good. It was my first time visiting this restaurant and took my parents there who were visiting from out of town. We were very disappointed by the service from our waitress. We noticed she was very friendly to other takes and not so much to us. Not sure if I will be going back because there wasn’t anything to warrant such cold treatment from the beginning of our visit.
A delightful evening and a lovely meal. Sat at the table by the window open on a lovely night. The service is friendly, efficient and very accommodating. Will definitely go again.
The food is beyond divine, the service impeccable. Acorn may be the best kept secret in the 'burgh.
Server left us for long periods of time including having us wait for a long time for our bill when we were clearly finished.
