Acorn - Pittsburgh
Clever and interesting approach to the menu offerings.
I took my son for his birthday. We both love trying new restaurants and Acorn did not disappoint. Everything from the beets and the cauliflower starters to our entrees of the trout and the lasagna were fantastic.
Love it at Acorn. Food is always creative, fresh and delicious. Service team is always friendly and helpful!
Excellent cooking by Chef Walton ... this is a special place
Being open on January 1 was a plus for Acorn. The brunch choices are innteresting. The food is well prepared and comes from the kitchen being hot rather than simply warm. The soup was outstanding. I especially enjoyed the crisp vegetables. I would give Acorn an A+ for serving creative mocktails. As a person who no longer drinks alcohol, I appreciate having a nice selction of beverages. It beats drinking ice tea all the time. Sevice is friendly and prompt. I always enjoy Acorn.
What a great New Year's Eve!! The special menu delivered great food in every course. The wine pairings were great. The live music made for a great atmosphere, and the staff was helpful and knowledgeable about everything. Thanks for making the holiday special Acorn!
Acorn presents a local opportunity to tease your palate with excellent offerings from Chef and Owner Scott.
We have been regulars there since opening and enjoy the lunch as well as the dinner experience.
Don’t miss out!
Wonderful meal with friends.
This was our second visit to Acorn, and we were just as delighted the second time as the first. The combination of flavors is incredible and most unusual. We had no idea what some of the ingredients were, but trust me - everything is extraordinary! Acorn is a neighborhood gem!
My family wanted to eat here after touring the Frick House for Christmas. We enjoyed our waiter, but did not like the menu very much. Food was a bit salty, but I enjoyed that they tried to be creative with some of the dishes. Overall, ok but not sure if I would go again.
While food and service are good, can’t escape that a lunch with a couple of wines came in as $120 for two people. WTH ... truly not worth it. Eat at shady grove for as good and half the cost!
Great. Drinks are ridiculously priced. There needs to be some kind of cheaper beer or brunch cheaper drink, or $6 house wine to enjoy the great food. Food is good, but not worth the drink price issue. Should be an easy fix, but I can’t recommend it to others without that fix.
Best brunch my wife and I have had, maybe ever! The taste of everything from the main meals of pancakes, and perch to side of bacon and sausage was good. The presentation was also great, with the most unique looking pancakes we had seen yet. Great place to a get top quality meal.
Food choices are very elaborate and aimed at foodies. This is not a good choice for someone who is not adventurous. Our meals were very good.
Acorn was wonderful. Fun cocktails, amazing food, and some of the best service I’ve had in Pittsburgh. It was a delightful dinner.
Creative cuisine, waiter was knowledgeable and helpful
I had been there before and really enjoyed the duck.
The trout was good, but disappointed my high expectations.
The bread and butter appetizer was small and way overpriced.
The noise was a lot higher than last time I had been there.
Everything we ordered was really great. Service was precise nothing rushed. Very nice evening
Very creative menu. The chef, Scott Walton, was extremely flexible in working with one of us who is lactose intolerant. He is quite friendly and spent some time afterward talking with us about his cooking and his background. The mahi and rainbow trout were both delicious, as were the unusual appetizers. Dessert was beignets with 3 sauces and carrot cake for the dairy-free diner. It was a lovely, comfortable setting with engaging artwork and excellent, personalized service. Looking forward to a return visit soon.
Wonderful flavor and great atmosphere
Excellent food, creative menu, great service. Highly recommend for either dinner or brunch.
Superb menu, beautifully cooked, unique to Pittsburgh
Enjoyed a wonderful evening, started with the charcuterie board, very well done. From there enjoy the duck pho, unique and delicious. Ambiance was very warm, service excellent.
We have eaten at Acorn twice, one lunch and one dinner. Food and service were excellent. Menu is creative and preparation is unique.
My daughter and I thoroughly enjoyed brunch on Sunday. I had the Shrimp & Grits -- spicing was amazing. She raved about the Everything Crust with cured trout. We will be back to try lunch and dinner!
Live guitar was great he got a big tip.
Walked in table waiting great service owner chef was warm and Welcoming. Fresh fresh unique and delicious brunch. Scallion pancake best dish at table.
This is the second time we have been here and are blown away every time at the creativity and quality of the experience. I recommend this restaurant often.
There was live music so that was a nice touch. The food was a little pricey but had a nice presentation and was very filling. Great place for brunch.
Fantastic singer Ruff I think his last name was. I would specifically go back to hear him.
Food did not taste as good as we expected. There are a lot more better places with the same price level.
1st time. Were interested to go. Great cocktails and appetizer which saved experience. Pasta disappointing- way over
garliced and little cheese flavor. We’ll probably return once more for drinks and
to try the small plates and fish offerings.
Came in for Sunday brunch. Interior was sleek and service was quick. There was live music at the front of the house, and the overall atmosphere was nice. Ordered the Eggs Your Way and Pancakes, and the servings were large and delicious! Will definitely be coming back, and highly recommend Acorn to anyone who wants good food for an affordable price.
Very noisy especially with the live music. Food is always great! Wish they had more gluten free options.
We had four appetizers mainly because they all sounded so good. We left full. The salt cod was so scrumptious. The cod came in ramekin and had the consistency of a dip. The charred cauliflower dish had nuggets of croutons and walnuts, the crab "rice" was unique and addictive and the gnocchi was meltingly tender. The drinks were good and seemed to have a nice pour -- they weren't all flourish and no alcohol! The service and atmosphere are quite pleasant. We've been for brunch and for dinner and really enjoyed the food and ambience on both occasions.
Sunday brunch is amazing- wonderful cocktails the dishes are creative and delicious. Great service
We enjoyed a nice Sunday brunch here. The menu was creative, presentations were interesting, and there was a solo guitar player/singer dong popular covers. It was a very nice brunch spot. we'll have to try it for dinner.
Amazing best food in Pittsburgh
We came to Acorn on a rainy Saturday night after Pittsburgh was attacked by an anti Semitic gunman. We found comfort in good food and friendly service. Thank you for giving us refuge on that very sad day.
Ok. Nothing exciting, we would possibly try it again if friends wanted to but don't plan to go back just because.
I had white bass. It was a little overdone- no longer moist. Appetizer was very good.
