Really really flavorful food with attentive staff. Acorn had an eclectic mix of flavors with wonderful presentation. Everything we had was great, from cocktails to appetizers (the crab rice!) to the mains to wine. All really great! And our dessert was amazing, a carrot cake unlike anything I have had before, just incredible!
My husband and I frequent Acorn every other week. We love the drinks, food, staff, and the ambiance. You are guaranteed a delightful dining experience and will certainly want to go back!
Our meal at Acorn was exceptional on all levels. The food was delicious, the staff was welcoming/helpful, and the environment was exactly where I would want to go for a nice dinner or brunch.
All of the food we had here was am
Although the food was great, the service was pretty terrible. The drinks were limited as well.
excellent in all respects. the food and service were excellent. cocktails were terrific. we loved everything and i feel like we tried it all. no problem with requests to omit ingredients. it is not for everyone, but we loved it.
Everything was delicious and the staff was very attentive
Some things were amazing-others a bit bland (carrots). For that much money I expected more flavor
Great food and service! The beignets are amazing!
Service was exceptional. Appetizers were excellent as was the wine list. The entree was just ok.
The fish tacos were a god choice
We enjoyed a delicious and unique chicken salad and the best roast turkey sandwich ever for lunch. Mmmmmm....delicious!
Attentive service. Imaginative cocktails very interesting food both entree and small plates. We had cauliflower and salt. Cod both excellent. Trout was an explosion of flavor. Friendly staff
I have been to Acorn many times for dinner, and now was able to make it for brunch too. I cannot day enough good things about this place. DELICIOUS food, great service, and great vibes all around. A favorite in Pittsburgh for sure!
An outstanding one of a kind restaurant. Wonderful original food and a marvelous staff. A really great experience.
Acorn is the best place for brunch! I’ve tried the fish tacos and the pancakes. Both were delicious! Even the drinks are fabulous. If you’re looking for great food and good service, Acorn is the perfect spot.
This was the third time I have been to Acorn for weekend brunch and once again it was a very lovely experience. All three times I have had a different dish, and each has been terrific. This last time I ordered the scallion pancake with a soft scramble. The eggs were done slowly and had a very creamy texture. The scallion pancake had a bit of heat to eat, but no so much as to detract from the other flavors in the dish. I look forward to trying the restaurant for dinner some point soon.
I still have fond memories of the duck and spatzle entree.
New fav spot! One of the best restaurants in Pitt!
Very inventive and delicious food. Limited menu. They forgot to bring one of our side orders. Service was rushed. But the ambience and low lighting was very nice and the food was memorably good.
Great dinner on Valentines Day!
Terrific meal. Wait staff was friendly and on spot. Great evening celebrating Valentine’s Day with my sweetie!
Great food and excellent service. Doug was an outstanding server. The carrot cake was fantastic. I'll be back.
Acorn is our favorite restaurant in Pittsburgh and this was our 5th or 6th visit. I recommend it to everyone I can as it is the best place in Pittsburgh for fine dining.
Good, but not good enough for how expensive it is compared to other similar restaurants
Overall the food was mediocre and overly salted on all dishes. Gnocchi was average and too salty. We recently had it better at other places and more affordable too. The sour dough toast in the salt cod plate was burnt. Pork lion dish was good and the meat was very tender. The service was good. Unfortunately, this place only had a single door entrance and it was really cold that night. We were given a table close to the door since it was only open available. It was uncomfortable every time the door was open. In the end, this restaurant left us underwhelmed especially for the price.
Service was excellent and finding an eclectic menu in Pittsburgh (although easier these days) isn’t always the easiest thing to find. The table had the Duck, Rabbit and the Mahi. All were cooked perfectly. The shrimp on the mahi was slightly over cooked but overall excellent food. The duck and octopus was just plain awesome. Twelve dollars for bread and butter seems excessive for the burg so from a value standpoint it’s four stars. Outside of that five star all around.
This was our first time at Acorn and were intrigued by the menu we reviewed online. The meal far exceeded our expectations as every menu choice we made was outstanding/ we are both “foodies” and eat out often enough to know this restaurant is one of the best in Pittsburgh. Cocktails were so different and tasty. Escargot, scallops, and clams were tender and perfect. The beets were seasoned with delicious spices but the charred cauliflower with walnuts and apricots was the star of the show. We shared the upside down carrot cake, not like anything you e ever had! All in all it was an outstanding meal. Bravo
The four of us enjoyed the cozy informal atmosphere and the friendly, helpful service. The food we ordered was fresh and imaginative, although occasionally there seemed to be too many ingredients battling for attention. Particular standouts were the bread and a deconstructed carrot cake that was out of this world. I look forward to going back for more!
Great little surprise just around the corner from where we live. For foodies for sure.
We went to Acorn on a whim to meet a friend for brunch and we were not disappointed. The brunch menu offered a number of interesting offerings. Our server was present without being intrusive. The food order was placed promptly and the kitchen responded in kind. The consensus was that the shrimp and grits and the chilaquiles had just enough bite and a lot of flavor. I would order either of them again.
Clever and interesting approach to the menu offerings.
I took my son for his birthday. We both love trying new restaurants and Acorn did not disappoint. Everything from the beets and the cauliflower starters to our entrees of the trout and the lasagna were fantastic.
Love it at Acorn. Food is always creative, fresh and delicious. Service team is always friendly and helpful!
Excellent cooking by Chef Walton ... this is a special place
Being open on January 1 was a plus for Acorn. The brunch choices are innteresting. The food is well prepared and comes from the kitchen being hot rather than simply warm. The soup was outstanding. I especially enjoyed the crisp vegetables. I would give Acorn an A+ for serving creative mocktails. As a person who no longer drinks alcohol, I appreciate having a nice selction of beverages. It beats drinking ice tea all the time. Sevice is friendly and prompt. I always enjoy Acorn.
What a great New Year's Eve!! The special menu delivered great food in every course. The wine pairings were great. The live music made for a great atmosphere, and the staff was helpful and knowledgeable about everything. Thanks for making the holiday special Acorn!
Acorn presents a local opportunity to tease your palate with excellent offerings from Chef and Owner Scott.
We have been regulars there since opening and enjoy the lunch as well as the dinner experience.
Don’t miss out!
Wonderful meal with friends.
