Acapulco - Costa Mesa
We decided to go to brunch at Acapulco’s for our anniversary. The food and service were good and as always, it was quite busy with large groups.
It was a good experience. Food was a lot . Drinks were so good
We noticed prices went up. The food and experience is very good but priced too high. We will not be going as often as in the past.
$20 to $25 (didn’t see the crab and lobster) is enough. Anything more than that for a regular champagne brunch is excessive.
Excellent service was provided for our table of 9 in the outdoors area. Wonderful experience, we will be back!
Excellent service and food!
We had the best waiter he was very helpful and courteous.
Food is good but pricey for mexican food.
Overall great service & good amount of food selection
Overall a very good value. Good food and drinks, reasonable price.
Good brunch good food will go again! Always consistent.
Enjoyed Sunday Brunch! Food fresh n delicious.
Just a note, we have eaten here at least a half a dozen times with no issues. Tonight: seated at 7:30pm my food arrived cold at 9:00pm. We asked for the bill at 9:20pm We received the bill at 9:45pm. Someone stopped by to ask if I needed a box, I literally said "I think" and he cut me off, saying "it's ok, take your time." It was rude and humiliating. He walked away before I could address the interaction. They picked up the check at 9:53pm and we left at 10pm when they returned the bill. If this was my first time dining here, I would NEVER come back. Not sure what was going on. It was awful, from start to finish. I hope they fix this pronto.
Fantastic service! We will be back for the amazing drinks, friendly servers and wonferful food.
We had Fathers day brunch and we all enjoyed it. The service was great, thank goodness we made a reservation. The waiter Pepe was awesome, always asking if things were going well. we would go back again.
The food was great and so was the service! I love this place!
A reasonably priced brunch with plenty of fresh servings to choose from. Plan ahead and make a reservation to avoid the wait. Carving station, omelettes made to order, plus bottomless mimosas.
We had a reservation for over a month and when we arrived they tried to sit us at 2 separate tables. We said no, then they seated us outside in the heat and sun. I have pre-skin cancer and my niece had a concussion which was not conducive to outside seating. We won't be going on a holiday again.
My review applies to our recent Brunch experience on Mother’s Day. I’m sure during a non-holiday, the dining experience is much different. There were so many tables and chairs crammed onto the patio it was difficult to get from the food area back to our own table. The noise level due to so many patrons made it difficult to have a conversation. We were there fairly early at 9:30 and were seated promptly and didn’t have to wait very long for a server to greet us. However, we had to get our own coffee from air-pots at the front of the restaurant. Paper coffee cups didn’t make for the best cup of coffee. Food was replenished as quickly as staff could and was warm. It looked like there were a lot of options to choose from. Overall, for $27 per person, the food lines were long and the ability to get around the food area was a challenge. I expected it to be very busy, but thought that the restaurant completely overbooked the dining area.
Nice enough stop on Cinco de Mayo. Minor errors on both guests' orders but not enough to make a stink. Disappointed that high end tequila drinks were served in plastic cups. If you're charging $10-15 for a drink, it shouldn't be served in plastic. Food was up to par, comp chips and salsa were very tasty with some zip. Ambience was pleasant. Sat inside due to breezy chill but it looked very comfortable. Would return.
A small Birthday party for myself and I enjoyed it. The waiter was very nice and made sure we had what we wanted. The surprise was great, I loved it! My friends and I agreed that the food and service was excellent.
We've been coming here for years!
I absolutely love this place and it's employees.
Also I hate buffets but I will eat at this one....thier chili Verde awesome!
And everything else of course!
Will always come for Sunday brunch!
Our server was friendly and gave a great recommendation on the food. Food was delicious and hot. Our server was very nice. I would love to give him a review but I forgot his name. Thanks for everything!
Very good restaurant I like there’s Mexican food, the big plate of food is very good and is not expensive I recommend this place I’m happy of visit this place. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Went for Sunday Brunch and they have a huge buffet with both Mexican and traditional breakfast items. Bottomless champagne and all you can eat for $25 is a decent deal. If you are not having champagne, is probably a bit pricey.
The only thing that went wrong is that they had no record of the reservation I had made online. At least that's what they said. Lucky for me it was a Sunday, not too busy and they had room for us anyway. If it had been a Friday or Saturday this could have been a problem. The food was great! The service was attentive and pleasant. I will go again.
service was slow 15 to 20 min to get drinks food was good
A party of 16 for a birthday celebration. A nice table was set up for us. Members of the party ordered off the regular menu. Everyone was satisfied with their food. Drinks were also ordered and they, also, were well prepared.
The strong suit of the occasion was the service of our waiter. He was extremely attentive to our every request. He did not forget any of our requests, no matter how small. A real professional.
Acapulco houd be proud to have him on their staff.
I used to go there in the past. Haven't been there for a few years. This time, the service was good, workers nice and helpful, but the buffet was extremely minimal, about a half of what it had in the past.
The service was excellent, very friendly staff. The food arrived quickly, was plentiful and very good.
I wouldn’t call this the *best* Mexican food, but we enjoyed the brunch last Sunday. The food was yummy and they offered a good variety (although adding shredded carnitas and carne asada to the meat options would be awesome). My favorite part of the meal was the service- I was able to effortlessly book a reservation from my phone. We were greeted and seated immediately - the hostess even gave us the choice between a table and a booth as both were available. Our server (Tanner?) was so friendly and took great care of us. I would recommend anyone to enjoy this experience!
The only Acapulco left in OC. Food was OK as usual. The flan was good and comped for my Fathers birthday. Currently being remodeled (11-3-17)
It was good. This is our first time using the OpenTable reservation service. We arrived a little early to make sure we would be able to get a table. We waited for about 40 minutes, while they arranged our table, as if we did not have a reservation. We were surprised to see they had a brunch buffet, so they looked like they weren’t even taking reservations, so we are not sure if our reservation with the OpenTable service really did anything. But they were kind and courteous and our large group was accommodated well. The food was fantastic and we were happy to celebrate the birthday.
We went here for lunch on a weekday and decided to order the buffet. The food was not as tasty as it looked. Everything was so-so. One of my favorite foods, cheese enchiladas, were not good at all. The sauce tasted like it was from a can, the enchiladas were not even very hot, and the texture was mushy. Meats were not labeled. Nothing was labeled. I was disappointed that the dessert selection did not include flan and that there were only 3 dessert choices, one of which was store-bought chocolate chip cookies and the other two not good at all. We did not enjoy this meal and will not be coming back, which is a shame because the restaurant itself is very pretty. It's specious and filled with beautiful pictures on the walls.
We went to Acapulco for cinco de mayo. We had a reservation for 4 yet the girl at the front had us wait for a table. Then she told us that we would have to wait 20 minutes as we have kids and it may be better to go elsewhere (plain out rude). I reminded her that we have a reservation so she went back to check. She sent a guy to take us to our table and he just pointed to it and said it's still dirty so I will seat you when it's clean. When it was cleaned, he didn't return so we told him and he told us to go sit down. Never even bothered to bring menus so I had to go ask for it. I asked for a kids menu and he said he'd bring it but never did. Already a below mediocre experience but we move on and try to enjoy our cinco de mayo. I order a house margarita and my husband orders a Cadillac. The waiter brings them out in tiny plastic disposable cups. Seriously???!!! They are still charging full price on the margaritas and serving in plastic cups that are clearly smaller size than the regular margarita. My husband questions the waiter how is he sure this is a Cadillac margarita as both look the same and the waiter says to trust him. Also, they didn't even include salt on the plastic cup rim and no limes. I ordered 2 cheese enchiladas and 1 chicken tamale. When our food finally came out, the guy who brought it said they ran out of chicken tamales so they substituted with chicken enchilada. Thank you for not even bothering to ask me as I did not want a chicken taco and you can't just assume that's ok. The food quality was below average compared to usual. We complain to waiter about food and margaritas and he just said this is one day like this because it's cinco de mayo, please understand. Really? You expect us to pay full price and accept below average quality of food and drinks? All I can say is that we used to visit Acapulco regularly but we will not be returning due to this "one day".
Visiting southern California for a boat show in Newport Beach we decided our trip to the southland would not be complete without having Mexican food. Low key, good Mexican food, nice wait staff, and of course, great margaritas. Think top shelf here and you get a really nice shot of Cointreau on the side. My husband had beef fajitas, I had carnitas,, we each had 2 margaritas (hey, a weekend away from the hustle and bustle of regular life!) and the tab came to $86.78 with tip. A bit on the high side for a regular place, but it was good and we had fun.
Had a reservation at 1:15 did not get sat till 1:43. The brunch was over at 2:00, so we were rushed to get our food before they started breaking down the brunch and they ran out of dessert by the time we were ready for desserts. It was raining so their patio seating was unavailable which made it more difficult to seat people.
We came here for Sunday brunch and the food was super tasty. There were lots of options and I was not disappointed with any of them. There were options for breakfast and lunch, but I only had the breakfast options since it was still early. Lots of stations with food made to order. Each chef was really polite and helpful in choosing great options to go together. There was also coffee and Mexican hot chocolate offered, which I love, so that was a huge bonus! I am looking forward to going back to brunch.
Although the food was good, it wasn't fresh. We compared this Acapulco with the one at the Long Beach marina. It could have been markedly better.
We sat outside on the patio. It was very nice, lots of plants and lights and heaters. Being close to the airport, we thought we'd hear alot of planes but we didn't. Service was great, food was ok.
Still an excellent value. The guacamole was less than expected because the avocados were not really ripe. Otherwise, the food was very good.
