We had a reservation for 1 pm on a Sunday, but they didn’t have any good seating options. We were first seated upstairs, but no one ever came by with menus. We finally moved downstairs to the outdoor patio. Service continued to suck with our waitress being rude and short with us. One sentence that came out of her mouth was “I’m gonna let you guys work that out” when we were trying to establish whether there was more to the pathetic brunch offerings. We placed an order and then everything trickled out. By 2pm we had only gotten appetizers, so we cancelled the main dishes and asked for the check. The food was not good enough to outweigh the truly terrible service.
The food here just isn't good. When we arrived the table seated next to us was complaining about the scallops. I LOVE scallops but their review was so poor I went with the soy cilantro skirt steak instead. The steak was... underwhelming. I didn't taste soy and it was served with some (what seemed to be ) microwaved potatoes) the cheese plate we started with was good, but should have cost $12-$14... not $24. The food was so poor we passed on dessert and coffee which is usually a staple in our meal. When the check arrived, I felt un satisfied to see $151 when I wouldn't have paid $75 for this meals. Service was okX Miguel was nice but was too busy and did the best he could. My wife and I won't be returning
Food was very good , a little pricey for the portions. Timing was bad. One of our meals came out 30 minutes after the other entrees were served. The waitress was very nice , she took care of us after and made sure we got a round of drinks on the house for the inconvenience
Our food was good and service was ok, a bit on the slow side, but nothing terrible.
All of the food was actually tasty, but not one of the dishes was actually hot, like it came right out of the kitchen. Everything was more like it sat for 8-10 minutes before they brought it out.
Sad, because if it had been fresh and hot, it would have been amazing.
We went to test out Alta House which didn't open till Noon although I called to make reservations and they told me 10AM. So there was a minor disconnect there. A little bummed that the Unlimited Mimosas were bumped up to a little over $20 per person, still great but gets pricey. The food was good, priced a little too high but hit or miss. The Chinatown Steak, not so good. Lemon Pancakes and the Veggie Frittata are the way to go! Great service from Catalina!
Beyond disappointed. I've been a long time fan of Abigaile, but this will surely be my last time.
1) For the second time in a row visiting the bill had higher prices charged than the menu. That is unacceptable.
2) From being seated it took 24 minutes to get the attention of a server and give our drink order and 35 minutes to get the drinks and almost an hour till we got our apps. At that point we asked for the bill, so we could go some where else to actually eat. I was far too hungry to wait another hour for a $30 small plate.
3) The tables are so close together (about 6 inches) we had to move them side to side, for myself to get in, and our neighboring diners to get in or out - and even then your butt sweeps the table top. So uncomfortable and embarrassing.
4) We arrived for our dinner reservation on the dot, but then received an email saying we were "no shows".
Food and music were great.
Excellent food! We had the cheese bites which were absolutely amazing! And then it was burger and beer special night... so we went with that and we're very happy with our choice! Burger was perfectly cooked and dry aged beef was like a filet mingnon! Loved it. Our only knock was that for it not being busy, the burgers took about 40 min to come out. Otherwise our waitress was awesome and attentive. Our drinks were never empty. Great meal, beautiful ocean view and great waitstaff! Just need to work on the kitchen speed! But this was not something which will stop us from coming back. We will definitely be back! Thank you OpenTable as we rarely venture in this area and would not have come by if not on our list! We will be back... probably next week!! And the next...
Abigail had change name to something else . We found out about it as we got out of our Uber. While making reservations for Abigail I couldn't wait to have yummie escargots from their menu. When we got to the place , no longer called Abigail, we learned that he name wasn't the only thing that changed. The menu as well! And it wasn't anything like what I saw on the Abigail's website. There happy hour selection was very limited.
The place itself was very cool and hip. Service was good.
Food not good at all.
I had a salmon tartare but mostly it was rice with a spoon size salmon tartare. :-(
There are a few very special dishes here. But it would be even better if the beer was as good as the food. With so many microbreweries in the south bay area, there's a lot of competition. There's a lot of good people making very good beer. Abigaile's beer is not as good as many other places.
Food was amazing. We ordered the crispy shrimp sando, the dirty bird benedict, the frittata, and the huevos ranchero + a side of bacon. The food was FANTASTIC. By far one of the best brunches I've had in SoCal. Coffee was amazing, and so was the tea. Luckily, we were all caught up in conversation with great company, so we were ok with the complete LACK of service. Our server was nice, and everyone had GREAT attitudes, but holy, was it ever bad. The food legitimately took 45 mins to come ; when asked what black tea was available, the waiter told me "Earl Grey", when it was an Assam (think Guinness Stout vs. IPA or Cabernet vs. Pinot). He had heart, so he offered to brought me all the teas available anyway so I can read the label... (because he couldn't?) The restaurant wasn't even half full, so we didn't understand the service part. Don't come here if you're in a hurry, but definitely come to enjoy amazing food with great company. Will definitely be returning (despite the abysmal service).
