What Insiders Are Saying
With an adult-friendly dining room, a nice outdoor balcony, an active bar, and large upstairs dance-floor slopfest, Abigaile has something for everyone.
Went for brunch and watching football. Jessica was amazing and the menu was outstanding. Mimosas were delicious too!
I came there for New Year’s Eve. It was $68 for buffet dinner but I certainly did not eat $68 worth of food , and our server was kind of rude. The only thing that was good tasting was the taco bar. A lot of food was running out every time I went to get something so I only had like one and a half plates.
Overall, restaurant was okay and New Year’s Eve was disappointing because no mention of buffet only option was on website and required a deposit. Very unorganized and food was okay.
First time at Abigaile’s after hearing so many good reviews from friends! Did not disappoint! Friendly and awesome service! Food was excellent!!!! Definitely coming back!
This restaurant was gorgeous and the staff was extremely friendly. The food was just okay - nothing to write home about. We had the tempura green beans, grilled broccollini, salmon poke, walnut shrimp, and cauliflower wings. The shrimp was the best plate. Everything else was honestly a little bland, especially the poke.
One thing that is great about this place (and a bunch of other restaurants in that neighborhood) is that you can purchase wine at Uncorked across the street, and you won’t have to pay a corkage fee. It’s a really great deal since the wine at Abigaile is extremely pricy.
Great place for tapas style food. Great for big groups.
The restaurant serves tapas. The portions are generous and the prices are reasonable. However, some of the dishes took overly long to prepare and the quality was inconsistent. The servers provided outstanding service. The wines were over priced.
Catalina and her supporting staff were on point and the food was great.
Unfortunelty Abigaile has gone down hill compared to the last few years we’ve been. It was the Holidays, and not that we expect Holiday music but they were blaring the hip hop station like it was totally normal at 6pm on a Wednesday before Christmas. Additionally the prime rib was strangely prepared and covered up with greens on a very small severing plate. Over priced and not worth the money any more. Go to the pier instead!
I used to eat at Abigails a lot when it first opened. It was quite good, with some outstanding things on the menu. The last two times I have eaten here, the food was just not good. The last time I ate here the service was also terrible. It took forever to get a drink - we had to flag someone down finally - and same when we wanted to order food. There seemed to be enough staff and it was not that busy. The staff was still pleasant enough, and the cheese balls are always good, but I won't be eating here again.
When our large party didn't opt for the "Family Style" menu, the service level declined. We were only brought 3 food menus for a party of 10, and could feel the tension between us and the wait staff. The food is good and the atmosphere is fun, but I wish the service had been a little more friendly.
Great deal with the burger package! Not so good the craft beer equipment is under maintenance, I would love to try any of the fresh beer batches.
Waitress never offered dessert. Didn’t bring steak knives for our steaks until we were almost finished. Another waitress walked by with cocktails doe another table spilling sone of the contents on my shirt and jacket.
Host sat us at table within a foot of large table occupied by loud and boisterous intoxicated guests. Our waitress had almost no personality and acted like she didn’t want to work there - only smiled once.
Probably not going back.
The Hostess was great and they moved our reservation from 5 guests to 6 during what could have been a very busy night.
We went there because of its location to the Manhattan Beach Christmas Fireworks. We had planned to eat close to the Strand and we knew that the streets in Manhattan Beach were going to be closed off around 5p.
We had been at Abigail s at least 4-5 times previously.
The last 2 experiences were ordinary or worse. My wife said "She wanted to go somewhere else; didn't like Abagail's.
The wait staff was good or better. But the food did not come out at the appropriate times, food for some, but not others. We know that it is a small plate location, but having dinner, you still want some coordination.
The food was/is bad. Sucks actually; and this is not the first time. Having not been there for about 1.5 years except for a beer one night, I suddenly realized why we had not been back in 1.5 years, and it should have/will be longer.
This is not a criticism of the staff. But to Management that it has a sucky menu, and the food is pretentiously bad!!!!
I got a Travelzoo voucher for Abigaile's. It was a good value with the voucher. It is VERY loud, too loud for conversation. Good wine & cocktail list. Interesting appetizers, although most are fried options. I don't need to go back, especially at full price.
Our food was not timed well and the dishes came out almost 30 minutes apart. One of the dishes being noodles with butter that was for a child and it took over 45 mins to get it.
We ordered a few different things and liked it all. We ended up not liking the sauce on the broccollini so they remade for us. Service was good. All good!
Very mediocre brunch. Menu is limited and they are not will to make adjustments to menu items. But the Bloody Mary was very good!
Waited over 10 min each time for waiter. Great place and food, we just had a mediocre waiter
I liked the food and the ambiance a lot. The service was fine but I think we had a waiter in training so a few hiccups but it wasn't bad at all. The price was higher than i thought it would be but i guess since you're walking distance to the beach it's part of the premium. All in all was a good restaurant and I would recommend it to a friend but I wouldn't put it down as a must return.
I made a special request on Open Table for an egg free anniversary dessert and IT WAS FULFILLED! You guys are the best!!! Thank you!
The service was unbelievably slow. It took over an hour to get our food and it wasn’t busy, which should say something that it wasn’t busy at 8pm on a Friday. We weren’t even offered water until right before our food arrived. Will not be returning.
Service was very slow. Vegetarian tapas need a lot of work.
Great brunch, had the chicken/waffles and Viet salad, but so many other tasty looking dishes in other tables, bring the gang and try them all out! Service was pretty decent too for a busy Sunday.
Abigaile has gone Downhill. It’s now the spot to grab a bit before you go up to the cheesy club upstairs. Our server brought us the check before asking if we wanted dessert or more drinks. We ordered dessert and she brought the check again. Then we got more wine and she brought it right back without again asking if we wanted anything else. I don’t think I’ll go back. The food was still good but kid of big sloppy portions
Food was good, ambience was good. Service was not great. We waited forever, the bartender finally came over and helped us. There were servers and they were helping others but they never came over to us once. They were out of Bloody marys at 11am on. Sunday. A big party upstairs took it all. The music was super loud and hard to hear at times. I also had reserved outside seating and they sat us inside. Not a huge deal as it was pretty warm out but still weird they didn’t acknowledge it.
Restaurant is empty yet they chose to seat us outdoors so we could hear the thumping music from the club above instead of the loud music being played inside. Noted on my my opentable reservation that it was a birthday celebration but neither the hostess or waiter made any mention of it. You don't need to be singing in the restaurant but maybe a candle with our dessert or just a simple "happy birthday" would be nice.
Relative items on the menu. We had a hard time choosing. Started with an order of truffle fries - oh yes! For entrees I chose the lamb dish and my husband went for the shrimp and grits - both were winners! ,liking forward to a return visit for another delicious meal. I highly recommend this place. Only issue would be that the “background” music was a bit too loud.
I’m always disappointed with the service here. I love the vibe of this restaurant, but the service is slow and not very good. This time, they brought out two appetizers when I switched my order and asked for one. They brought out my friends meal 15 minutes after everyone else’s. Don’t expect to pay your bill fast either.
The service was horrible. Not attentive whatsoever and neglected us the whole night.
Came out here while on business travel in LA. I highly recommend the short rib - really tasty. Good beer selection as well.
Hostess was holding people up and not giving away tables. After 20 minutes of waiting she finally got to prepping a table for us that had been open since we got there. We then waited 20 minutes before someone even brought menus.
I have been to this place before and have really liked it but they lost my business there.
The food was good but service was terrible. Will not go back or recommend
We made a reservation for a Friday night based on a coworkers recommendation. Our first trip to LA! Neighborhood was cute- super close to the pier and the beach. We ordered drinks (a house lager and a gin cocktail) both great! We had Brazilian cheese poufs for an app which were unique and delicious. We both ordered the beef tenderloin which came with sautéed veggies, rice and a potato pancake. So many wonderful flavors. We rounded out the evening with key lime pie- the only mediocre dish we tried but still tasty. Service was prompt and considerate- one of our beers was comped without any complaint on our part when we waited a little while for it. Overall I would definitely recommend!
Patio was less noisy.
Great food. Terrible service. Asked for our truffle fries first. They came out last. Waitress never check on us after she took our order.
Me and my friends visited the restaurant Sunday 9/16. We all ordered different plates.
The China town rice eggs and steak was good.
The Chilaquiles were totally bland, Which also arrived several minutes after the other dishes arrived, (I'm sure the server forgot to order it). The service itself wasn't very pleasant. Our server wasn't much of an attentive person.
For the $116 spent, I don't think it was worth the experience. Specially for such a bad service.
Very slow and bad service. We had to return some food because it was just not edible.
I loved the unique spray painted walls. It made me feel like I was somewhere other than Hermosa Beach. The loaded tots were amazing! We were disappointed we could not find the egg hole toast on the menu :( We both settled for our brunch dishes, but we enjoyed them nonetheless.
The food was incredible. Very dish was thoughtfully prepared. And it works!
We can’t wait to return...
