We were dropped off at our seats and then ignored. We had to ask for drink menus, and then food menus. Waitstaff came by and were loud, unpleasant, and made crude comments. Our silverware was taken away and not replaced; we needed to find staff to get us more. Food was forgettable. Basically the front of the house didn’t know what they were doing, and the food didn’t back it up.
We've gone to Abacus many times and are never disappointed. Everyone there is friendly yet professional. The waitstaff is great and the food? Presentation is exceptional and very tasty. Will go back as soon as our schedule allows.
My fiancé and I had an incredible experience at Abacus. Food was perfect, service was top notch, and our waitress was very knowledgeable. The rest of the staff were aware it was our 6th anniversary together and went out of their way to ensure a memorable time. We were first timers, but we’ll definitely be back! Kudos to Abacus!
I splurged for my husbands birthday. Well worth it for a special evening. Waiter was great. We kind of let him suggest our dinner. It was just a wonderful evening
Abacus decided to try a concept by serving Easter Brunch this past Sunday (the restaurant is ordinarily closed Sundays).
Rather than go through their menu and make the typical selections one may be accustomed to, you simply decided on the proteins that would be served at your table choosing between roasted chicken, prime rib, and salmon.
Choosing the latter two, we were each served lobster shooters to start (an Abacus signature item), followed by a wonderful selection of breads and muffins. Cocktails and Shirley Temples for the younger ones were followed by generous portions of prime rib and salmon for each, a wonderful mac and cheese dish, rich buttery mashed potatoes, quiche for each table member, home made sausage, and pancakes.
Ice cream and berry cobbler to finish...
The food was delicious and filling, with to-go boxes packed for later snacking.
Very glad to be a part of this concept and look forward to the next Sunday brunch!
Easter brunch, family-style and everything on the plate was excellent. Top notch service. Reliable excellence in a town full of fads and passing fancies.
Went for Easter lunch and it was outstanding! Fabulous meal loved the options and the family style. Cannot wait to return soon. Loved it!
Great Easter lunch, fixed menu, but everything was fantastic!
Fantastic! Couldn’t have asked for better service or food!
Food and service were both very good. Received the table we requested.
Appreciate the extra chef signed menu/bday card and the birthday dessert plate presentation.
We all agreed: this was the best meal we've had in Dallas in a long while. Everything was so tasty; a true gourmet meal from start to finish. Every course was special and delicious. We can't wait to return.
I had been meaning to go here for along time and was very surprised with the variety in the menu. I had a lovely evening. Beautiful deserts
We always enjoy our dinners at Abacus. It is our special occasion go to restaurant.
We are never disappointed. Love the Lobster shooters ad always order them. The wine service is great. Our waiter wanted to make sure I have just the right wine to go with my meal. The food, service and atmosphere are always excellent with out being stuffy.
Our tenderloin filet was perfectly cooked and my after dinner cappuccino perfect.
We will continue to return to Abacus knowing we will have a wonderful experience every time.
Ken, our purveyor of fine dining, guided us through a FANTASTIC meal. He gave full dedication despite the the big but silently pleased customers. His extensive knowledge of wine led to a perfect pairing from the beginning of the meal, starting at Lobster Shots, followed by amazing salads and then medallions of prime beef and venison. To top it off we concluded our meal with an deconstructed red velvet cake.
It took forever to get drinks. It took forever to get to order dinner. It took forever to get appetizers. It took forever to get the entrée. And then it took forever and again to get dessert. We were there nearly 3 hours. This was a special occasion and we brought six people who had never been there, and will likely not go back.
We loved the Chef’s Table tasting menu!!
As always. Abacus was outstanding. There is nothing better in this world than the Lobster Shooters.
Abacus was absolutely divine from the service to the food to the wine. I was entertaining a colleague who has a palette for global fusion cuisine and Abacus did not disappoint. We started with the lobster shooters, which are an absolute must! The scallops were the best I ever had. My colleague loved his steak and the infused smoky flavor. This will quickly become a regular for me.
Waiter Nick and manager Aaron are both excellent! We had a Great business meeting!
For a short while we were afraid Abacus had "lost the touch" but after this last visit we know we were wrong! Food was really good and the service was especially good. They have "upped their game" and we are thrilled.
Great service and the food is fantastic! Abacus is
Truly memorable for any special occasion.
Great Happy Hour as a lead in to a wonderful meal. We are always a little reluctant to come here often because of the price listing on opentable, but the food is really good and if you combine it with a happy hour drink, it's no different than other nice options in town. And it's the only place to get a mix of sushi with a more traditional entree. Service is friendly and efficient, and we are always happy we went.
The entire meal was amazing. Great food. Great drinks. Great service. Can speak highly enough about abacus.
Hadn't been to Abacus in a few years and it was everything I remembered. Phenomenal food & service. The presentation of the food was outstanding. Our party of five shared some lobster shooters, a couple of sushi rolls, salads and then everyone ordered their own entree. I had the venison which was cooked to perfection. We shared two desserts. I'm not a fan of red velvet cake but this one was very good. The dessert I was looking forward to the most was just ok - brown butter peach cake. It was dense and a little dry. That's my only criticism of our meal. Service was friendly and professional.
We celebrated our anniversary at Abacus. We had dined there many times thru the years but had missed returning.
We are so sorry that we missed a couple of years because our dinner tonight was superb as in the past. Everything from the bartender Jason to our waiter Nick could not have been better. Our food was perfect from the lobster shooters to the scallops appetizer. We loved our Cornish hens and venison entrees. Dessert was perfect with champagne.
5 Stars across the board. We won’t wait to revisit.
The food was decent. Unfortunately it took 45 minutes for our meals to arrive once we ordered.
I have been to Abacus many times throughout the years with sensational experiences and when my last minute birthday dinner could not be had at Pappas, Double Eagle, or Nick & Sam's last Saturday I was thrilled to see that they had a reservation left. We made a plan for 4 and they were courteous to increase it to 5 last minute while still providing us a great table. Our service was great from our waiter as he was attentive, courteous, and kept our Champagne filled (and then later our Cabernets via the magnum he found room for on our table). The opening food was excellent as we had the lobster shooters, bacon flight, and the Picasso roll to start - all of which are some of their staples. Also of note, they ran out of bread that night which was insult to injury as they also had lost their pastry chef and didn't have their typical assorted bread basket that I raved to everyone about prior to dinner. However, the steaks were a colossal let down. For the first time in my life I sent back a steak (I eat a lot of them - had 11 out at restaurants in November alone); the aged strip I ordered was over cooked at medium and was also room temperature. The waiter was aghast, he took it back and replaced it quickly while comping some truffle fries to keep me eating but even the repeat steak was now rare instead of medium rate (albeit warm). I was further flabbergasted to hear that it wasn't just my steak; the entirety of the table had a room temperature steak that was cold within 1-2 bites that night. All of the steaks were presented with flare but I'm guessing the kitchen was behind as there was approximately a 70 minute wait between apps and dinner. The waiter and ancillary staff did a great job of conducting an audible throughout the night but I am not sure I can any longer think of Abacus as fine dining in Dallas any longer messing up one steak is ok but a table of 5 all having poorly prepared dishes is an embarrassment.
Impeccable cuisine, attentive service and beautiful atmosphere! A joy!
Service is impeccable. Food is high end and plentiful. Ambience is perfect for a romantic night for two or having fun with a few friends. We have been a few times for date night but also together with friends. Great place if your looking for a fun & fancy (but not uptight) night out.
Great food service and ambiance. The desert was to die for.
Great! Exciting! Felt like a queen. I really did my best to choose a place that gave me a 5 Star experience. I am excited to return.

I rarely write reviews, even though I should more often. However, I was so underwhelmed by my final Abacus experience that I am compelled to say something.
The lobster shooters were amazing as always. Bread is great as well. Beyond that the entire meal was simply disappointing. Wanting to eat light before a local concert, we opted to choose from the sushi and small plate section of the menu.
I ordered the Picasso roll. I eat sushi at least twice weekly and have never had it served with diced onions. The roll was absolutely covered in them. I tried to brush them off, however at that point the roll was saturated with the flavor of onions. What a shameful waste of fresh fish.
My date chose the Cheese Tray . It came with 3 tiny pieces of cheese and a small dollop of soft cheese along with 4 crackers that looked and tasted to be made of some peculiar mix with the consistency of a composite material. Then sprinkled on the plate were a few apricot bites and nuts that literally looked and tasted like trail mix from Costco. Not only was the quality very poor, the $28 price was out of line. For comparison, I’d refer to cheese tray at Rise as an excellent value and tasty choice.
Although the staff were welcoming and are always gracious, I would save your hard earned money. Instead spend it at one of the many other amazing culinary treasures we have here in Dallas.
I loved Abacus. We went for my husband's birthday and had a lovely time. The wait staff is friendly and very professional. They kept the water and wine glasses full all evening. The food is amazing. I had the lobster shooters - excellent. The sushi is fresh and flavorful. Main course was prepared perfectly and the dessert was wonderful. Bar service was quick and they know how to make a perfect martini.
Call great experience on Valentine’s Day.
We went for Valentine's Day and they had a pre-purposed menu 4-course dining experience. It was perfect! Timing of the courses was spot on and the food and drinks were spot on. Great place for special occasions. Ambiance and decor was very relaxing and romantic. Pricey but worth it!
Outstanding menu with almost every choice being highly desirable.
The execution was extremely good. Great balance of flavors, beautifully presented, and great service.
We knew we were presenting the kitchen with a challenge given the dietary restrictions, yet the server made the whole experience his problem, and it all was super easy.
They even produced a dessert that was not on the menu without us asking, simply to accommodate the dietary restrictions. It is very rare that it is ever this easy.
