Acerca de este restaurante

Abacá is an airy, atelier-style restaurant with a cool outdoor terrace, whipping up Filipino-Californian cuisine with flair in Fisherman's Wharf. It's the bricks-and-mortar spin off of chef Francis Ang's pop-up Pinoy Heritage. The lively menu is split up into barbecue sticks, noodles and rice, and small to big plates, but its far more nuanced than just that. Flavourful dishes pull from family recipes and are glazed with modern and heritage technique to result in a vibrancy that's hard to come by. It's grounded by local produce. Smoked Bay scallops lead in the seafood pancit, heirloom tomatoes top homemade tinapay bread, chicken skin is glazed in an adobe before hitting the grill and guinea fowl comes slathered with peanut sauce. A truncated list of creative Southeast Asian libations bring it full circle – if you're on the terrace, cool off with the Baguio breeze slushy – a dreamy mix of pandan-infused vodka, coconut and strawberry.

Andrew Le is creating and adding his own flair to Hawaii’s culinary scene by using his cultural roots to inspire his tastes. Owner and chef, Le (pronounced LAY) is the mastermind behind two innovative restaurants—The Pig & The Lady and Piggy Smalls, both located in Honolulu. Garnering numerous awards and accolades, including being a James Beard Award finalist, Le innovates by accentuating his cuisine with Southeast Asian flavors through an Asian American lens, a foundation built on delicious memories first introduced by his Vietnamese immigrant mother. As of November 2019, Le’s culinary footprint has expanded internationally with the opening of The Pig & The Lady in Tokyo, Japan. The food and drinks were so unique and my waitress, Julia, clearly was a foodie! Highly recommended! The just off the plane cocktail, or something of that name was amazing! The lumpia lettuce wraps with pork and Stone fruit… OMG!

This was our second time around for dinner and it did not disappoint. There were a few new items on the menu to try this time around and there was not a single miss. My favorite two were the chicken liver mouse with pandesal and the balut 3 ways. I love that Chef is still able to come up with unique dishes but still keep the Filipino spirit in the dish. Keoki was our server and he remembered us from before and it had been a little over 6 months ago. It was a great evening and we will continue to stop by on our upcoming visits to SF. We also love the breakfast pastries in the morning. They make for a delicious start to your day!

Charming staff. Wonderful food. Went for an anniversary dinner and the staff had signed a card for us and placed it on our table. How many restaurants do that?

The drinks and apps were great! The entrées are just OK. Our server was a bit pushy since we were a big group and she was trying to get us to buy the prefix and trying to upsell us constantly so that was definitely the only negative impact on our experience. Otherwise, it was a lovely time!

Our servers hovered over us a bit. The food was lacking flavor and depth. Felt like we were eating street food only and not at a Michelin recommended restaurant. The fried dishes tasted greasy.

Not that good! Most of the food on the menu is someone's creation modifying Filipino food. Tried quite a few of the items on the menu but some were pretty bad. Service wasn't great either. Waitress was a little pushy. Atmosphere was very touristy on the first floor of a little hotel. Prices were pretty high for the amount and quality of food. If you're craving Filipino food, I recommend going to Daly City where you have a lot of good options.
