Mediterranean
Aba is a Mediterranean restaurant with a rooftop patio located in Chicago's historic Fulton Market District. This is Chef CJ Jacobson’s second restaurant with Lettuce Entertain You, and is an extension of Ema (mother in Hebrew) in River North. Aba, meaning father in Hebrew, incorporates a light style of cooking with a large emphasis on raw and cooked protein. The bar program is crafted by Lead Mixologist Liz Pearce and showcases rare Mediterranean-inspired wines and spirits.

Please note that outdoor seating is first come first serve, is not available for reservations and is weather permitting.

The atmosphere is totally awesome. Reminds me of Santa Monica Lincoln Park, but in a different color theme. The food was pretty good and the service is good too. Definitely well worth it to experience at least one time.

We had an amazing experience. While Aba is advertised as the protein-forward sibling of Ema (they do share the same chef), it is a lot more than that. The flavors are bold. The service - outstanding. The decor /ambiance(even in winter without the patio) - inviting, warm, thoughtful industrial-chic. I think I may have found a favorite.

Great food and even better service. Had been to Ema, so was curious to try the sister restaurant Aba. It was just as good, if not better.

Aba was fabulous. It was great walking in and being greeted in a very warm manner. The decor was just what we needed after coming in from the cold. Loved our food! Edamame Fava Spread, Pumpkin Hummus, Root Vegetable Salad, Shrimp Scampi and Crispy Potatoes. Super Wine List.

A Wonderful Evening. Can't wait to go back!

Only thing I docked it for was our seats. We were in the middle of the aisle by the bar, which wasn’t the MOST romantic spot to be in, but nonetheless a fantastic experience.

We were seated right by the coat check so there were constant distractions and loud noise from the door slamming. The octopus was mushy and over cooked and the salad was significantly over dressed. I don’t think I’ll be dining here again but would recommend it in the summer for drinks only. The bar and outside seating looks promising.

Everything about this experience was incredible. The aesthetic of the restaurant is so chic yet “homey.” Our waiter, Brian, was extremely personable and honest with his suggestions. As a customer, I appreciate that! Everything we tried was incredible and good portion sizes. I loved this restaurant and cannot wait to come back!

Food and service was impeccable. The decor is amazing. Our server, Ramon is absolutely the best. I love his humor, and how meticulous he was. Extremely attentive without being too overbearing. He gave great recommendations and I didn’t regret a single item. He paced the meal nicely and didn’t rush us at all. We didn’t even realize how fast time was flying and it almost seemed too short.

Food was delicious as well. We ordered the restaurant week menu and had the spicy hummus, Brussels sprouts, village salad as well as the hamachi (thank you Ramon) to start and they were absolutely delicious. The skirt steak was great as well. The chef did a wonderful job playing with different flavors! We were so full but we still enjoyed having the crepe brûlée pie and the Turkish coffee dessert. We would definitely come back here and I would love to Ramon as my server again!

On the recommendation of a friend, a friend and I dined there as part of restaurant week. Everything we tried was delicious; from the whip feta, spicy hummus, village salad to the slow braised leg of lamb wrapped in eggplant. The ambiance was nice and the service was great. Michael, our server, was friendly and attentive. We will be back.

The food was amazing. The ambiance was nice. It was confusing once you came into the building that you had to go up the elevator. The buttons in the elevator were even confusing as it says two different restaurant names. The only thing I didn't enjoy was that you had to pick 1 of the two wines on the restaurant week. I don't drink wine so I paid for something I don't drink and had to order full price something else.

This might be my new fave spot in Fulton Market. I just really dug the seating area vibe and the big open space. There’s a bar both sides of the dining room and a small room for family dining, not to mention the outside igloo areas. We went for restaurant week and had a great three course meal with wine - very affordable. Be warned, though, that drink prices are a bit too high to be your neighborhood bar.

Would highly recommend Aba - the food & service were impeccable. I went for restaurant week with a friend, so we were able to try more. We split the hamachi, beef carpaccio, brussel sprouts, and whipper feta. If you had to pick only one, I’d say try the hamachi! The flavors exploded in your mouth, and it was my favorite part of dinner. For my main dish, both my friend and I got the braised lamb wrapped in eggplant, which was also delicious! For dessert, I got the creme brûlée pie, and I’d come back just for that. All in all, 10/10.

Excellent food in a beautiful atmosphere. Our server was exceedingly friendly and knowledgeable. We participated in restaurant week and it was A TON of food for $50/person. If we had to pay full price per dish, I don't think we would have found as much value.

The food, cocktails, and ambiance were all outstanding! Already looking forward to coming back! My only suggestion would be to back off a little on asking to remove plates. Two of us were doing restaurant week and were not in a rush and we felt like every minute someone was wanting to clear our food and we weren’t done yet. Overall excellent service!!

My friend and I had a wonderful overall experience at Aba. We walked in and fell in love with the indoor trees/plants and ceiling lights. When we got sat, the server broke down the menu and made great recommendations. The food was phenomenal - I really enjoyed the falafel, hamachi & grilled octopus. The place was really packed for a Tuesday evening. I’m glad I got to reserve a table through Open Table for my gal date! Would go again.

I really loved the decor and the ambiance. Service was great and everything was delicious. We had Spicy Hummus- wasn'tspicy but had very good flavor, Muhammara- spicy to me in a good way and the walnuts added a crunch, Hamachi-light, refreshing, my favorite bit, Beef Carpaccio-thinly sliced and flavorable, Grilled Octopus-cooked perfectly and romesco sauce was a great pairing, and skirt steak-shawarms spices was perfect. Dessert we had creme brulee pie and chocolate tart.

Everything was perfect! The restaurant is beautiful. The service was friendly and relaxed and attentive without being annoying. Honestly some of the best service I’ve had in a long time. We tried a lot of items as part of the Restaurant Week menu. Every dish was fantastic. The highlights for me were the spicy hummus and red pepper spread with pita. I also had a great cocktail - the Winter G&T. I highly recommend Aba!

Aba has to be one of the most beautiful restaurants in Chicago. With all the greenery and boho interior decorating, it's very cozy and comfortable! The service was phenomenal, our server, David, was absolutely hilarious and very accommodating. The dishes were amazing. I would recommend the Whipped Feta, Beef Carpaccio, and Skirt Steak. I would definitely go back and plan on it! :)

Absolutely love the place. The food, atmosphere, service is all unreal. Type of place you would always want to return to try something different on the menu. It is small plates meant to share but more than enough for two people. Entrée portions are perfect and desserts are out of this world. Have to have the Crème brule pie. Something I have never had anywhere.
