Mediterranean
Aba is a Mediterranean restaurant with a rooftop patio located in Chicago's historic Fulton Market District. This is Chef CJ Jacobson’s second restaurant with Lettuce Entertain You, and is an extension of Ema (mother in Hebrew) in River North. Aba, meaning father in Hebrew, incorporates a light style of cooking with a large emphasis on raw and cooked protein. The bar program is crafted by Lead Mixologist Liz Pearce and showcases rare Mediterranean-inspired wines and spirits. Please note that outdoor seating is first come first serve, is not available for reservations and is weather permitting.

Incredible ambience -- outdoor space overlooking Fulton Street neighborhood. Drinks / wines / small plates Mediterranean food -- all excellent. Perfect spot for a summer evening with friends, old or new. We'll be back.

Atmosphere and outdoor patio are lovely! The food was delicious, highlight for us was the whipped feta and lamb/beef kabobs, though everything we tried was good. Ventured away from a traditional wine and let Alex, their sommelier, recommend a lovely red wine from Greece. It was a great choice, wish I could remember the name.

Our server, Megan, was excellent.
Also, we had a nice conversation with the new manager (slight beard) , whose name I don't remember, but was also very nice.

It was a bit cold out to hang out on the rooftop, but Aba gave us some blankets and we were fine. Since it was colder, it was not crowded at all, which was great

Very nice ambience. Service was also very good. The Classic and Muhammara hummus were excellent. Really liked the Grilled Cauliflower. The Short Rib Shakshuka was good, but not good enough that I would order it again. I was disappointed in the Brussels Sprouts. I ordered these at Ēma and they were outstanding - best I have ever had! I thought they would be the same since the same chef runs both restaurants. Ēma's sprouts are much better. Maybe they are supposed to be seasoned differently, but they need to use the same recipe that Ēma uses. They have a fantastic rooftop patio. The weather was too bad to sit outside. I would go back just to use the patio when the weather is nice.

ABA is a lively venue and "bar scene." My husband and I were celebrating our anniversary and arrived early for an 8PM reservation. We said we would go to the bar for a cocktail until our table was ready. We were told it would be at or around our reservation time, but that time came and went. We spoke with the manager who assured us it would be a few more minutes. We were finally seated at 8:35, almost an hour after we arrived. Needless to say it put a damper on what would have been a very pleasant evening. The concept is imaginative and the variety of small plates make for a meal that is out of the ordinary. We felt the vegetarian options were more flavorful than the two meat dishes we ordered.

Great atmosphere. Beautiful outdoor patio. Short rib hummas chewy and stringy. Lamb Kefta, whipped feta spread, octopus great. Deserts need to be adjusted. Yogurt and olive oil wasn't good. Creme brûlée pie wasn't special.

We ate here for our final dinner during our family vacation to Chicago and couldn't have asked for a better way to finish off our trip. Food and service were fantastic and we loved being able to taste so many different dishes with the small plates menu. My mother-in-law grew up in a Jewish home and the halva dessert took her right back to her childhood, leading her to share some special family memories with us. Thank you Aba staff for an unforgettable evening.

We had late reservations but came early hoping to be seated early. Fortunately we sat at the bar and met Andy our bartender who led us to having Muhammara and Straccialtella for appetizers. Absolutely wonderful. For 2nd course, we left the bar area to meet Lisa and we had leg of lamb wrapped in eggplant and chicken kefta. Both definitely keepers. Desert was kulfi. Again outstanding. Aba has been rated highly and deserves it. Much thanks to Andy and Lisa for there great service and suggestions. Great restaurant and dining experience.

Had been there once before in a Sat night. Loved it but noisy.
This time Sunday night and are outside.
Everything was spectacular but 2 of us irdrrrd the lamb Chops. They were not hot & I sent back. One was under done and one well done. They came back better but we both agreed that for the money each of us got one larger chip and the second one was 1/2 the nice. Will not order that again. Not great. Everything was delicious. Ordered cappuccinos and they were like warm. Waitress said she just made them but we like hot coffee. Remade and a drop warmer but still not hot. So disappointed. Order them all the time other places and obviously the machine needs to be recalibrated.

Just an excellent experience all around at Aba. This is a beautiful space on the 3rd floor in the heart of the Fulton Market district (west loop). They have a large patio with many tables and couches. Although we didn't sit out there, it seems a great place for drinking and eating in the summer, especially since it's away from the noise and exhaust of the street below. The bar and dining space is airy and modern, with a lot of greenery and high ceilings that give it an indoor/outdoor feel. The food is great. It's mainly intended as small plates/sharing, but there are entrees as well. The food is interesting and flavorful. Great modern take on Mediterranean fare. Similarly, the drinks are interesting, tasty, and infuse Mediterranean themes as well. I went with two friends, and the three of us ate and had a bottle of wine for $50/person (before tip). We've been to many places downtown and in the West Loop, and thought this was an excellent value for the great food and space. Strong recommendation for Aba and definitely going to return.
