Aangan Ratings and Reviews
Problem was that we gave orders .... got starters and then sat and sat.
Eventually a waiter came over and asked “oh are you ready your main courses now” like they’d been waiting for s signal from us .... really annoying - if you’ve messed up the order just admit and apologize.
They tried to pretend our dinner wasn’t messed up even as people seated long after us were served.
Food is ok not brilliant.
I have been coming to Aangan for at least five years for well-prepared, reasonably priced Indian dishes and have never been disappointed with the food. I remember in particular a succulent and delicious shrimp appetizer at lunch. The service is friendly and the space is attractive. The cocktails are not handcrafted, so I recommend going with beer. When all the tables are taken, the sound level makes conversation a challenge, so if the restaurant owners would install sound-absorbing features, that would be great. Meanwhile, I avoid the busy times and enjoy the food and friendly atmosphere during the off-hours.
My family loves dining at Aangan. The lunch special is a really good deal, and the food is always is amazing. The service is great as well! I highly recommend the chicken makhani and the rose lassi. I've always had good experiences here and I will keep coming back!
I always get the cauliflower in cashew cream sauce (Kaju Gobi) and it never disappoints. It this time I also tried the appetizer with the phyllo dough cups and they were amazing! Highly recommend this dish.
I've been here a lot and I've never need disappointed with anything. Consistently a good restaurant and good value.
Food is great. I was really impressed by the freshness and good taste.
Place is little small but manageable. I just had a very loudly lady next table talking nonsense politics that annoyed me, so I requested another table which was promptly done.
lamb biriany was delicious. Also had mango lassi and vegetable n chicken somosas
All was great
Aangan is one of our favorite restaurants. We come here frequently. This time we had our two favorite dishes -- Chilean Seabass and Lamb Shanks. Both were wonderful as usual. Large servings we couldn't finish because we had ordered appetizers. The cauliflower appetizer and the wholewheat poori were very tasty, but we really could have shared either one of those large entrees after the appetizers. (We did enjoy leftovers for lunch yesterday though.) Our waiter, the owner who stopped by our table, the rest of the staff -- everyone was very friendly, attentive and efficient. All-in-all a very enjoyable experience.
Looking for a casual alternative to our usual lunch rendezvous spots on the Upper West Side, we chose Aangan for its varied menu of Indian dishes, including 3 very reasonably priced lunch specials. We weren't disappointed. Three of us had the vegetarian special (not too spicy), and our friend ordered a la carte (chicken masala). The service was good, we were able to converse in normal tones, and we didn't feel rushed. All in all, a pleasant experience. We will return.
