A16 is a restaurant and wine bar bringing the delicious and hospitable traditions of lively Campania to San Francisco. The chic, rustic/modernist venue is named after the motorway that transverses the South of Italy.

The restaurant features wood oven-fired Neapolitan Pizza and other specialties of Campania such as Maccaronara with ragu napoletana and house-made ricotta salata. The wine bar serves 40 wines by the glass and half bottle carafe. The list is 60 percent Italian, mostly from the South, and the other 40 percent is New World, celebrating premiere Italian varietals grown in California along with many California wines.

We offer Three unique seating areas for reservations: the main dining room, our high top seating in the wine lounge, and the chef counter which oversees our open kitchen and our talented cooks.

I have been to A-16 twice so far and both times have been absolutely outstanding ! Everything is wonderfully flavorful and visually appealing. The service is very kind and even when the kitchen backs up the servers stay calm and helpful. The open kitchen is wonderful and validates the feeling that they truly care about perfecting every dish. I do not drink but they have a beautiful bar and a full wine list that is sure to make any wine-lover happy. This Italian dining establishment fit for a new age is the perfect trip for a group of friends, family, or a romantic evening.

I'm sorry to say that I did not enjoy my meal at A16. The wait staff was wonderful, the surroundings were pleasant, but the food did not measure up to what I was told to expect. Basic and offal is not diverse enough to please me.

Stick to the pizza, which is excellent. Many negative reviews come from the small portions of pasta or so-so entrees. Ignore the other things on the menu (well, get dessert) and order lots of good pizza.

After drinks and appetizers it took 45 minutes for someone to take our dinner order. I had to get up and ask. I'm guessing it was a one time fluke. Loved the food and ambiance - would return again.

The food was outstanding..not the typical Italian fare... Definitely innovative and interesting although staying true to the cuisine of the Campagna region.Our server was helpful and very friendly..they have a fantastic wine list. I highly recommend this restaurant

I have wanted to try out A16 for 2 or 3 years. We are huge fans of SPQR and were staying in the Marina for our anniversary, so we decided to go to A16 instead of SPQR. Unfortunately, we were disappointed by the food. First though, I want to say the staff is outstanding! Our server was one of the best I've ever had. We were seated in a very busy section of the restaurant and watched the servers work together beautifully and with skill and grace. All of them were kind and exuded excellent customer service. Now for the food...
We started with the "Tuna Panzaella with fava beans and meyer lemon". It was good, but not great-lacking any taste of the promised meyer lemon. Each course "missed" on some ingredient. Wished it wasn't so.

Ok I guess. I had heard for years that this was a great restaurant. Solid ingredient and friendly service. The menu is vary familer, the standard SF offerings. The wine list reads like a mixed tape made for one person, very specific and hard to find something if you are not that 'one person'. The decor is fine, like the menu, down the middle, nothing new or exciting. There are 100 restaurants like A16 in SF so why bother with parking in the Marina.

My out-of-town friend and I dined here last Friday and had an EXCELLENT time. We split a pizza, a pasta dish, and a side (roasted asparagus). The Salsiccia Pizza (mozzarella, fennel, sausage, roasted broccoli rabe, grana padano, garlic, chilies and olive oil) was really good; the 14" size was generous, the crust was thin but robust enough for the ingredients, and the combination of flavors and textures was terrific. The pasta dish looked sort of like a crepe burrito, filled with duck and ricotta (delicious). The roasted asparagus was really delicious, but of all the dishes the "value proposition" ($7 for about 7 pieces) was terrible. But with 3 glasses of prosecco, the entire bill (B4 tip) was $40 apiece. A GREAT DEAL.

We were celebrating my birthday and they forgot our order....it took us over 1.5 hr to get our entrees...they had better get it right, or else they will lose their following. Best to stick to SPQR! No need to go back for dinner again....

This is one of my favorite restaurants in the city! I've always had a wonderful time, whether it's lunch or dinner. The service is great, the food is amazing and they know their wines! And they do not rush you. It's a great dining experience all around. I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone.

Food was very good. I could quibble with a couple of details on my dishes. However, the service was so outstanding that I would recommend A16 without reservation. I'm looking forward to my next visit!

With great parking luck and able to get a table even being 30 minutes late for our reservation we were in for a good night. The host was very gracious and sat us right away. Service is friendly and prompt. We had the arugula salad and it was delicious. Love the pizza so flavorful and great to split.

This restaurant was packed! Which is great, however if you make a reservation you should be able to sit down at your time -- not a half an hour later! This was frustrating, especially since I drove over an hour to get there. The food was really good though, so that made it a little better. The service was great at our table; our waitress recommended some great wine, but still quite frustrated by the timing of our reservation versus when we actually sat down.

The food is good and the service outstanding. The whole staff was very helpful and friendly. The only negative would be the loud atmosphere. Fine if dining is your pleasure but difficult if good conversation is essential.
