   Service was very slow. Didn’t have the wine I ordered. Loud. Not worth 400 bucks for 4. Desserts were the weakest part of the meal. Disappointing and will not return.

   Overall a nice evening out The ambience was upbeat, cheerful and the room had a good energy but not too noisy The service was excellent, although we had to wait longer than usual for the entree to come out. The waiter made up for it with an appetizer on the house The appetizers and salad were delicious The pasta dish we ordered was disappointing....too creamy and bland.. hopefully it was just that dish and other choices would have been better I will certainly return and order a different entree.

   Food wasn’t that great. Argula salad has no dressing. Bread and butter, bread was stale and dry. Burrata had no flavor. The pizza and wine was good probably because of the chili oil. The service was slow even if there were not that many people on a Saturday night. Not sure I’ll go back again.

   Waitress serving skills need help. Very informal not aligned with the more professional approach we are used to at A16. When ordering wine, twice we were told that they didn’t have the wine the Sommelier suggested. Wouldn’t the somm know what they have…. We were frequent diners in the past. The restaurant leadership has changed so much it lacks the refinement and professionalism it once had. No longer a go-to place for us because of this.

   I enjoyed my meal, but they only have a small selection of pastas and both of the pastas we selected were good, but not great. Also, we were asked if we wanted still or sparkling water and then charged for asking for sparkling. I've never seen a restaurant do that. They did take it off the bill, but it was a bit off putting. Think I'll look around for a different pasta spot.

    It had been a while since we'd gone to A16 because I'd felt the food quality had been going downhill. However, the restaurant is very close to my house and very convenient for us to get to. The food completely disappointed--the fish and pasta were bland, and my pizza was virtually inedible. Insult to injury, we were placed in an overflow area despite the restaurant being nearly empty when we arrived and with a number of large tables available when we left. We were the only ones in the overflow for the duration of our meal, which made the ambiance little different than eating doordash at my own dining room table at home--except with worse food. We deserved much better than that as diners. We won't be back.

    We had a party of 10, celebrating a retirement, so we ate family style. We ordered the Pea Salad and Calamari to start. Both were very good and excellently prepared. For primi we had Fregola and Rigtoncini. The Fregola was outstanding, and the only complaint about the Rigtoncini is that there was more ragu than pasta! It's often the other way around. We ordered 3 pizzas: Funghi, Pisello and Carciofo. All were tasty with good chewy crust. The crust could have been a little thinner, especially at the top, but the pizzas were all delicious. We also ordered the peas and several of the dolce to share. All the food was very, very good. We also ordered several bottles of Italian red wine, all of which were excellent. The restaurant has a good selection of wines that have some age on them and are ready to drink. We had wines from Sicily and Venice for the most part. Service was very attentive, especially considering the size of the party. We were served quickly, but then were not rushed to finish. Most of the service was done by a single person, and that was very impressive. I should also mention that it was easy to find parking in the neighborhood, which is often not the case. If you're looking for an authentic Italian experience outside of Italy, you could do a lot worse than A 16. Check it out for yourself.

    Every dish was delicious: calamari with fried lemon and corona beans, little gems salad, and sausage pizza with broccoli rabe. And the Negroni was perfect! We so appreciate the outdoor dining option.

    I have been a longtime fan of A16 San Francisco so was excited to try their Oakland location. Unfortunately my husband and I were both disappointed. The pork chops were dry, unable to cut through the carrots and overall not a lot of taste to the food. Sadly we will not be returning.

    First the good: Service was outstanding! Now the bad: Dishes were unbalanced. There were 3 of us and ordered several starters and main dishes. And this is where things got very uneven. The burratta starter was lovely. The calamari with beans starter didn't have any calamari that could be positively identified, but there was a big mound of beans! Same thing with the white pizza that was supposed to have artichokes on it as the only topping: 2 artichoke hearts on 6 slices! The linguini was OK. Why the skimping?

    Outdoor seating was disappointing. There was someone who tried to break into a parked vehicle right next to us. The bus driving by made the dogs howl. Pizzas were just ok. I would suggest dining indoors if possible.

    Three of us shared an appetizer, a pizza, a vegetable and a pasta. We had a cocktail and a carafe of wine. Staff were knowledgeable and helpful and flexible. Service was exactly what we asked for, leisurely, so we could take our time and enjoy each other’s company in the very pleasant environment. this was my second visit in a month and both times the food, drink and service were excellent.

    We were disappointed with both pasta we ordered. One was green linguine with mushrooms. The other was as red sauce that was supposed to include anchovies. Both required salt. Both very bland, with little flavor. The service was excellent. A great wine list does not mean it's a great restaurant. A restaurant's primary purpose is to serve food. If the pasta in an Italian restaurant is not flavorful, the restaurant fails. There were stacks of pizza boxes so maybe that's all they really do well

    The calamari was overcooked/tough to eat. Surprisingly, the pizza, presumably the signature dish, was disappointing. The crust was tough and overall the pizza didn't taste very good. The pastas were good. The tiramisu was also good.

    Top notch experience, A16 never fails! From The welcoming staff, the cocktails, wine, starters to desert couldn’t have asked for a better night. We enjoyed the ribeye, and the charred flavor was next level. Highly recommend A16 for any occasion.

    I have eaten at A 16 many times. Its a neighborhood destination. The staff is friendly and professional. Food is great. This night, was a little crazy. Totally over booked. packed to the gills and clearly understaffed. It took a very long time for our drinks. " I am sorry the bar is really backed up". Ok we were not in a hurry and in it, knowing it was super crowded. The server was running around like crazy, polite, doing his best but racing from bar to food, to tables to bar again. By the time we got our food, we were an hour and 1/2 into the evening on a 6:15 reservation. Pork Chop came first as did a Pasta at the table for two next to us. Both dishes were cool. Not hot. My brothers potatoes were really tepid. Like mildly warm. The gentlemen next to me and I waited another 5-7 minutes for our Rib-Eye. It was. not hot either. It "rested" too long. Again the waiter was everywhere, doing his best. and checking in too. Deffo a kitchen issue. The pork chop was beautiful but pretty tasteless. Tender and described as brined but with little salt. Just wasn't right. Looked great! Very Instaworthy. My issue, is that if you book your restaurant, and allow the many walk-ins that I witnessed. Then be able to handle the work. Tables are very crowded together now, and they just couldn't keep up. I have an idea! Don't overbook! Of course there are bigger problems than waiting for very expensive food and having that uncomfortable thing when your table guest is staring at their food, but this is a restaurant review. I hope its delivered the way it was intended. And I must say, I have had the pizza many times, and it never disappoints. Neither does the counter...

    Our family came to A16 Rockridge to celebrate a recent birthday, and all of us being together. The menu choices were our reason for choosing A16. Everything went so smoothly; seated right away, attentive staff, food came at appropriate times. The quality of the food was exceptional, the drinks were perfect. Little extras were added at our request (extra anchovies). I wouldn't hesitate to return to try other dishes. Especially happy with the pasta , gnochi and the trout.
