Love this spot. Food is so good and the service is great!
Great experience and the dinner was exceptional. Outstanding job by the chef, and the staff were amazing. Love A16!
Kale salad, Octopus with crispy beans, burrata Pizza. All excellent!
Montepulciano Riserva too.
Glad to see they're making it work during the pandemic.
The outdoor set up was warm enough. our server, Autumn, was a delight. The fennel salad was so fresh and tasty. The fried dough pizza with smoked tomato sauce was a delightful change from the expected.
Great wine and dinner, truly memorable anniversary dinner. Dessert wasnt the best (ordered the Rhum Baba) but loved the dessert wine.
For Covid reasons the restaurant chose not to close any doors or windows and the night’s temperature was 40degrees. Therefore we were FREEZING. Our food instantly was cold and the entire dinner experience was miserable. I wouldn’t recommend eating indoors if its cold. There was no option to have heat or closing of doors or windows. We will not be returning and we are sad that they are unable to offer a good experience. We were the only ones in the restaurant and spent $300.
Great friendly service. Excellent food in nice atmosphere. Enjoyed it and would recommend it
The food and ambience are good, friendly staff. Fun location
With current reopening stage and capacity limitation, my partner and I were very impressed at the layout of the dining room. There were only two other 4 tops and us. While most diners sat outside (on a chilly night), we were more than pleased to be indoors with plenty of ventilation from the screened door opening. The food as always was amazing and our server Rob was incredibly attentive.
Nice spot to dine during COVID. Offers semi-private outdoor seating. Delicious food and attentive service.
Having to wait over 30 minutes for a reservation is unacceptable.
Most delicious meal EVER!
we ordered the Brussel sprouts, fired olives, 2 pizzas, the meatballs and the cannoli ice-cream.
Everything was mouth-watering!!!
The outdoor dining experience in the parklet was perfect for my family (4 and 8 year old). The slightly more casualness let the kids feel more comfortable.
Don't count on being seated at the time of your reservation. We had to wait 25minutes past our reservation time to get a table.
First meal since quarantine couldn't have been nicer. Food was great, sitting outside was wonderful, and they took all the necessary precautions to make everyone feel safe. It was good to feel human again.
Good meal - just service needs a little improvement while they adjust to new public safety standards amidst Covid.
We’re used to the great food and service at A16. Now during COVID, there are nice outdoor booths built along the street. I hope the Oakland allows the booths to stay post-pandemic.
Yummy margarita pizza with sausage. Great service and lemon drops
Great pizza and absolutely delicious melon salad
There is a set 20% fee that is added to your bill for service (aka Tip), which would be fine if they provided good service (or any service for that matter). A16 was always a favorite, but the service is now total crap that costs a premium.
We came for a birthday dinner at one of their new outdoor spots in the street out front.
It was really great. They require masks at all times that you’re not eating or if staff approaches table. It was handled really well.
We had heirloom tomato caprese and 3 pizzas. All delicious.
I was so excited about going to A16, the food was delicious and they've done a nice job of leveraging the sidewalk for outdoor dining. My only complaint would be that they are automatically adding a 20% service charge but didn't tell us so we added another 20% and didn't realize until we got home. It felt a little dishonest.
Great outdoor area for dining, food was great as always. Wood fired pizzas are a favorite, as is the heirloom tomato salad. Service was great, attentive but not overbearing.
A nice bowl of olives, an excellent pizza with Nduja sausage. Good cocktails. I had one with mezcal that was very tasty. Gelato for dessert, although the peach "gelato" was more like an American ice cream, was not a true Italian gelato. That's a very minor thing. Will definitely go back!
First time I have eaten at a restaurant since Covid outbreak. A16 has created sidewalk dining. The food was as good as ever and the outdoor seating worked just fine - not great but fine. However, the service was horrendous. Wait staff, which was basically non existent, had literally no idea how to service customers. We had to ask for water, drinks, silverware, to order food, and to get our food. Truly an awful and odd experience. Won’t go back.
It was delightful to have the opportunity to eat at a restaurant. Great COVID plan and felt safe and guarded. Exceptional food!
First off, it was fantastic to eat out! First time since the very beginning of March, and A16 could not have been a better choice! If all you are looking for is the punchline, then you need read no further. Highly recommended! Fantastic meal! Great staff! Excellent experience!
For those who like a bit more detail, here you go. Most importantly, the safety protocols were excellent, and we felt extremely safe. When you walk up, someone from inside will greet you outside, and they will direct you to use hand sanitizer. Everyone is in masks, of course. They will seat you at an outdoor booth in a little "parklet" they created outside on the curb part of the street (they converted parking spaces). I believe there are 10 booths. Metal tables and chairs that are wiped down before you sit. Tarps between the booths that provide function, but also some privacy and a bit of unexpected style. The service was cheerful and impeccable. They worked terrifically as a team, and it felt very attentive and caring without being too much. We all worked together to keep proper distance and to not touch It was easy. The cocktail menu is different and quite nice, but we decided on a classic, so Rye Manhattans arrived! And they were GOOD! We ordered too much as we wanted to take some home. And I'm glad we did! The menu is a bit reduced, but many of the old classics were there. Most important: THE MEATBALLS! YES! YES! YES! You must get the meatballs. And a pizza. They are all awesome! We got the one with wild mushrooms and added sausage. It was epic! The melon salad was excellent, and it kept well until the next day (to go with leftover pizza). The calamari. What can I say? Get the calamari. No, really, do yourself a favor and get the calimari. First, it's roasted! This means you can actually taste it! Second, it comes with the most amazing roasted beans. Lastly, the roasted lemons. Could be a dish by itself. We had nice wine by the glass with dinner! Great meal!
Ate outdoors on sidewalk platform in separated by canvas hanging walls. Food good but it was coldest night in summer so we both froze. No heat lamps.
If coming be prepared for wind and weather of the day.
Services and food was wonderful.
I am so grateful for any restaurant that invests to set up outside dining during this pandemic time. Although the takeout has been great, it was lovely to sit outside and have a full meal after all these months. The canvas sheeting between tables and a wooden fence to the street felt comfortable and protected, and I enjoyed the quiet conversation. The food was excellent as always: we had the pork chop and chicken cooked in the brick oven, roasted summer squash on the side, and a couple of awesome salads. The tomato salad and the melon salad were exquisite. The shaved fennel salad is enough to share or have leftovers and was also delicious.
A16 is doing a phenomenal job with outdoor dining! The food is as delicious as always and they set up a great outdoor space with curtains for distancing (which also make it feel more intimate). The staff are above and beyond friendly even while following protocols. I can’t wait to go back!
My car was parked out front and was broken into during the dinner!!!
The menu provided a variety of choices without being overwhelming. Each dish was absolutely delicious as well as beautifully presented. All in all a wonderful dining experience. I live in another town but am looking forward to returning for another meal. Graci!
My girlfriends birthday. Excellent service and even better food. The wine was delicious.
Whole restaurant was kind of drafty. Mediocre food and aperitifs.
Would not recommend.
Way too noisy in the back room. Couldn't hear nor understand the person sitting right across the table. Very slow service. Pizza was very good! Authentic Mediterranean style. Very small portions on the appetizers as well.
Restaurant was quiet tonight. Service staffing felt light; sometimes had to work to get a server’s attention, but they were great once we got them over.
Food was great (pizzas, short ribs, desserts) except for a disappointing cauliflower pasta. Flavorless and surprisingly bad. We didn’t finish it.
The beet salad and roasted calamari was great. The fungi pizza was wonderful also. But there was a limited selection of pizzas with meat. Would have liked one to pair with the fungi!
Leiza (sp?) our server was fantastic, she made us feel right at home & we look forward to coming back just for her.
