A Mano PHL
It was great. We had the tasting menu which was delicious. Plenty of food. It is very popular and loud.
Got the tasting menu ! They even threw in the braised pork belly I really wanted in!
Everything was delicious! A Mano is a must when dining in Fairmount
Excellent hand prepared food. Creativie and super Yummy
We got the chefs tasting and it was mind blowingly good.
Outstanding flavors and textures come together across the entire menu. Excellent bread service too.
Anniversary dinner. Outstanding food. We will return.
Amazing food! Restaurant was very noisy. We forgot it was cash only, but there is a gas station across the street that has an ATM machine.
Our dining experience at A Mano got off to a Rocky start when we arrived for a 7:00 pm reservation and there were no open tables in sight. Our party of seven stood in the cramped entryway, extending our reach into the open dining room and surrounding tables. Was our contender an underdog incapable of sprinting up the steps to culinary victory?
After approximately 20 minutes of heart pounding anticipation, during which our Adriatic hostess offered comfort that all would be well, our party was finally seated. For parties of seven or more, the restaurant requires the “abbondanza” which is a four course tasting menu served Paulie style for $65. Since this is a BYOB establishment, we came prepared with several bottles of our favorite grape juice.
Our server, who might have been named Mickey, commenced our training by explaining that we would be receiving the chef’s selections for the evening consisting of three dishes per course. With that we were ready for the match to begin.
The first round was a combination punch of roasted cauliflower, braised pork belly and tuna crudo. Not to be undercut, the second round consisted of three pastas - bucatini in a spicy tomato sauce, cavatelli with escargot and strozzapreti with crab. The third course was a haymaker of chicken Milanese, seared duck breast and roasted barramundi. Our dinner thus far was served at the perfect pace, with appropriate pauses between rounds, and could not have been more delicious. All that was left to deliver the knockout punch was dessert. It did not disappoint and delivered the victory the crowd had cheered for.
Overall, A Mano is ready to take on the Apollo Creed of Philly’s Italian dining scene.
Perfect for girls night out or date night. The ravioli was amazing!
Phenomenal food and service. I look forward to going back soon!
A Mano is consistently excellent. Staff are superb as is the food. Cash only and BYOB. An excellent value is every respect.
Tried A Mano on a whim, and it blew us away! We went back next week to try the rest of their menu, and will continue to stop in to see what they've got going. Fantastic service, great pricing, easy location, and cozy interior. Plus, BYOB! Thanks for all you do.
Original. Creative. Enjoyable. However, not a heart healthy venue. Great for an creative meal, but if one has cholesterol/heart issues, I would avoid.
The restaurant is small with an open line. The service & food was great but the noise levels were terrible. There were several large parties that forgot they were in a restaurant not a bar atmosphere and when they got their check and everything was completely clear except their wine glasses sat & lingered. My Husband and I couldn't carry a conversation without yelling at one another. We were told that the party of 9 would be leaving soon but only to be replaced by a party of 10. It's not the restaurants fault but clearly not for couples surrounded by loud large parties. Our wait person tried to sit us up by the line but to no avail. At the end of the meal we were compt a dessert. She was a champ but I'm not sure my Husband will go back. And yes we know it was Saturday night but maybe a little screening would help and staggering the reservations or put them in the back & couples in the front.
Great waiter. Food just okay. Noise level disturbing
This is our neighborhood gem! My favorite go-to and soooooo lucky to have them nearby!
New dishes: flan, fritate & gnudi are all fabulous
Had a fabulous anniversary dinner. The service was terrific and the food was wonderful. We tried the tasting menu. It was a ton of food. We loved all of it. We brought our own wine. We would eat here again.
So delicious, so comforting. Tight and noisy, but it doesn't detract from a great dining experience. BYO is the cherry on the Sunday.
Great for foodies. The chefs are on view and take real pride in producing fabulous tasting food
Would highly recommend the Abbondaza for anyone dining at A Mano, especially if you're dining with friends. The food is fantastic and you leave stuffed for $65. This is our second time dining here and we've loved it both times. Would highly recommend A Mano to anyone looking for an Italian BYOB offering great value or to anyone looking for Philly restaurant suggestions. Will definitely be back.
From arrival to departure A Mano is a wonderful dining experience. The staff is attentive without being fawning. This is a BYO so check out the menu online so you know what you want to pair with your choices. We began with a few small plates to share among the four of us, the tuna crudo, mushroom ravioli and the pork belly, plus a small plate of the goat cheese gnocchi. I cannot say enough how utterly delightful these all were and they paired wonderfully with the Rhône red we brought. Main courses were pork shank (me), fruiti di mar, chicken Milanese and duck. Everyone raves about their entrees and they all paired perfectly with the Bordeaux blends we brought. Desserts were delicious with sparkling wine and a late harvest Chambourcin. They offer a four course family style dinner option as well, and we will try that in our next visit. A Mano is definitely going to be our go-to dining spot.
We love this restaurant. The dishes are inventive, always with wonderful complex flavors and consistently balanced. The service is exemplary.
We went for my birthday on a saturday night. The service was great and the pastas good too. A few dishes have chile in it and spicy so I could not try them. Energetic vibe but the hard room makes it noisy. So understand that. Prices were fair for entrees but dessert portions were smaller than we expected. We like to share but not possible with size. We would consider going back though we do have to drive there.
Great experience. Our friends want to go back again.
All pastas are amazing; down to the detail. Really nice place to go and share with friends.
The highlight of A Mano is the food. We both had the mushroom ravioli, which was absolutely phenomenal. My wife also had the cauliflower appetizer, which she loved, and I had the bucatini all'amartriciana, which was quite spicy and quite delicious. The service was fine, and the noise level was not bad at all, we could comfortably converse without distraction from other tables. As we live in the neighborhood, A Mano will remain one of our regular haunts.
This is our favorite restaurant in Fairmount. We come for special occasions, a group dinner or just date night. We bring most guests visiting from out of town. It is delicious!
Our experience from stepping in was exceptional. Warm greeting, knowledgeable server, excellent food.
Loved the food and service but the atmosphere was much too loud for us! Everyone seemed to be screaming to each other to be heard. Maybe someday the acoustics can be modified to help diners enjoy the dining experience a little more.
This is the 3rd time I’ve been here, and I just love everything about it. May it live on forever
One of the best Italian places in Philly! Excellent food and service!
Great... but it wasn’t very apparent that it was BYOB and cash only...
Great food. Simple but delicious. Good atmosphere. Underrated restaurant for sure.
We continue to return to A Mano as our favorite restaurant in Philly. Always GREAT food. Chef Michael has an uncanny ability to layer flavors - such that each dish has multiple savory tastes. Never all blending into one single flavor - nor competitive - but complimentary, interesting, provoking, and always pleasing.
This visit the Strozzapreti was out of this world - more crabby than crab!! Truly remarkable. The Black Olive Fritelle was a delight - and the charred flavor just the right accent. The semifreddo - and its combination of smoke and caramel was beyond compare. Can't wait to get back!
Amazing! Great homemade Italian food and great prices! Small cozy atmosphere, with visible kitchen right in dining area!
Delicious food. The music was a bit too loud for the ambiance. Service was outstanding and knowledgeable. Food was wonderful. If you like savory non-traditional Italian food, go to A Mano.
Each meal was outstanding. Flavors were amazing.
Wonderful experience from beginning to end - can’t wait to come back!
