Had a lovely time! The bartender was funny and approachable when we waited at the bar for a table. He assisted us in ordering wine before moving it to our table. Our server was warm and friendly and offered excellent recommendations. The food was delicious! Definitely hope to return in the future!
Terrific food and great professional service.
great service, good pasta, great calamari and extremely family friendly. a cozy, sweet, and nice restaurant that you would want to come to come back again and again (and the host, owner and servers remember/recognize us and greet us like family, even though we have not been here for a while)
The food outstanding. Service wonderful! Highly recommend!
Overall Good experience as usual.
We were told to wait at the bar despite showing up on time for our reservation. It took forever for the bartender to offer us an order.
I ordered Veal with Marsala sauce which was not only an disappointingly small portion but was average at best regarding flavor. Additional wine orders took forever and my water was never refilled.
I would recommend Il Porto or Landini Brothers for Italian in Alexandria.
This has now become one of my favorite restaurants with excellent service good food and they allow you to take your time and enjoy your meal. I am sure my husband and I will be back next time we are in the area.
Always great food, service, ambiance!
One of our favorite restaurants. Great food and service.
Great Italian spot! I really like the option for 1/2 portions on the pasta dishes, ensuring room for their fantastic desserts. After dinner we had a cocktail in their bar. Really like the jazz motif and the great music. Fantastic food, reasonable prices! We'll be back!
The food was prepared nicely and the host was very accommodating, but my wife and I constantly got the impression we were being rushed to eat and pay and get out the door.
Always terrific food, service and ambiance. Love the new menu! Lucky they’re so nearby!
Awesome food and great service. Everyone at a la Lucia is super friendly and the food is always delicious!
My wife and I have eaten here before and had an enjoyable dining experience. However on this day, the experience was not good. Had a reservation and arrived to be told table was not ready yet. That's fine, we waited in the bar area. They must have broken a glass or two at the bar because I felt a sharp pain in the palm of my hand, only to see I had been cut by a glass shard that had been left on what appeared to be a clean bar top. 10 minutes after this we were seated in a booth in the front room. The restaurant had cleared out quite a bit, but it was another 20 minutes before we were initially waited on and offered beverages. This was the theme all night--service as slow as snails pace. This continued the remainder of the dinner. We allocated 2 hours for dining before transitioning to our next evening event and had to call it quits before finishing our entrees. Entree's and Apps were largely unmemorable. Not bad, but not great. I'm hoping our poor experience was just a fluke. It's usually crowded so gastronomics says it should be good. We'll give it one more shot, but to be honest, there are a lot of great places to eat in the area.
Great food, easy parking
The service was lackluster as was the food and ambiance. They served me a Diet Coke an can and left the can on the table like it was Perrier. I wasn’t impressed and won’t go back.
Good food and service. Friendly atmosphere and staff. Family friendly and very homey feeling.
Everything about the place was great. I did think that some of their dinner selections should have had a side for the price they were charging. My neighborhood Italian restaurant has fabulous food and good prices. They also serve the entrees with soup or salad and a side of pasta if it’s not a pasta dish.
Always a good meal with fine service. Love the salmon.
Very good food, attentive and friendly wait staff. I would definitely recommend this corner restaurant.
We had come to A La Lucia several times in the past and had reasonable experiences. This time we were seated in the front room next to the windows. Lighting was poor. The ambiance was like something out of a Hopper painting.
Always terrific. A real treat to enjoy Ribolitta AND Dorade fish special! Last minute visit w/ out of town friends. 2 more who will be back!
WORST restaurant Experience I’ve ever had. Waitstaff was dismissive and aloof. There was only one thing available on the menu for gluten free. GF pasts has come a long way and any grocery store sells excellent tasting high quality gf pasta. This place didn’t have it. It was revolting. Looked and tasted like glue. I returned it and they brought it back with the statement that “this is how it cooks “ and literally dropped it in front of me. That was it! Never saw the waiter again and I was miserable and hungry! Food was completed inedible and untouched. My guests were not happy with their meals either. Very mediocre at best. Bill came and I was clearly chocked that no compensation had been made for my uneaten meal. When they heard that they deducted only $4.00 for the gluten free. A true Italian restaurant cares deeply about the food AND their customers. This is NOT that place.
Great food and service as always!
Excellent restaurant. Good food and excellent service.
Delicious dinner with family -- wait staff went above and beyond and food was delicious. We'll be back!
Not at all what I expected after reading reviews. Truly a local place in that being new customers we felt ignored. It was obvious they were catering to their regulars. Food was okay but not memorable. The veal ravioli was fresh but very doughy. Gelato was good.
We had a delicious family dinner starting with fresh bruschetta and a Caesar salad and wonderful pasta.
We were from out of town and love the atmosphere also away from the busy Main Street of old town.
As always, we had excellent food and service. Tried the pork chops on the new menu and they were delicious. Same for the pizza. This is our go to restaurant.
A great neighborhood restaurant with consistently good food and warm, professional service.
A La Lucia has been a favorite for years, and now that we've moved away, we're sure to visit every time we're back in town. We keep waiting for the quality to go down, which has happened at so many places we love, but they keep making us happy to go back!
We met an old workmate of ours from Raytheon and shared a nice dinner with he and his wife. Excellent dinner and cappuccino.
Our favorite restaurant in Ild Town Alexandria. Fabulous!
The restaurant has introduced a new menu (on one sheet of paper) that is not as satisfying as its previous offerings. No more appetizer/entree/dessert deals - all is now a la carte. A side of shaved fennel, that used to come with the fish entree, is now $5. Foccacia, previously first-rate, was dry, and the whole bream (supposedly deboned, but still containing bones) was not at all the equal of the rockfish that used to be a staple. Mussels are no longer offered as an appetizer. The agnolottii in cream sauce, another old favorite, was tough and the sauce was watery, not creamy. Very disappointing experience for what had always been a go-to neighborhood spot. Not planning a return visit.
While waiting 30 minutes past our reservation time for our table, it took 20 minutes to get a glass of wine. The atmosphere was very frenetic and chaotic, lots of staff running around and barking requests at one another, but nothing getting done. That doesn't set the stage for a relaxed and pleasant dining experience. Once seated, our waitress was very welcoming. The focaccia they served was not as good as it has been on past visits. Food was alright. Even though I live walking distance from a la Lucia, not sure when i will be going back.
Great experience, wonderful food. Couldn't have asked for a better meal to end our vacation.
Our first time dining here and really enjoyed the food and service!
Service and food were excellent. I really wanted a veal dish, but there was only one on the menu so I asked if I could have the chicken marsala made with veal instead of chicken and the server was able to immediately confirm we could without needing to check and it was delicious. We were a group of five, we had appetizers and each had different entrée and everyone was very pleased with their meal. Servers were very attentive, including stopping by to fill our glasses from the bottle of wine we ordered whenever they noticed it was needed. Overall we were all very happy and would definitely eat there again.
We had an excellent experience and the food and wine were wonderful.
