View Private Dining DetailsMy family and I have been dining at A la Lucia since it opened many years ago. Indeed, we've enjoyed many a family celebration there--birthdays, graduations, prom dinners, etc. along with just regular family dinners. My kids are adults now but every time they come back to town we go for a wonderful family meal. The wait staff is fabulous. Friendly but very knowledgeable and efficient. Indeed, while I think I know a bit about wine, I always ask either George or Goran to pick our wine so we get to try new additions to the list. They are very gracious and I have never been disappointed. The owner Michael is the consummate host. We also like the bar for a quick impromptu stop. Wes is very welcoming and you get he same fabulous food as in the dining rooms.
Excellent pasta. I had a half order of sausage ravioli and then rigatoni pasta with sausage for entree. Excellent Tuscan wine.
A La Lucia continues to be a favorite of ours because of its genuine character and charm. The food is always delicious and the service is crisp, timely, and professional. We are always impressed with the authentic feel - we are reminded of the many meals we enjoyed in Italy during our 3 years of living there. We look forward to our next opportunity to enjoy and evening at a La Lucia!
Very good service - attentive but not intrusive; food was cooked as requested and delicious. We will return!
Our favorite restaurant for the past seven years! We love the staff and cuisine!
Great local restaurant with attentive service. Try the salmon!
Terrific choices on the three-course Prix fixe menu
Great place to meet up with old friends for one of our regular lunch gatherings. Food, service and ambiance good (albeit an initial mis-step for salad dressing to be served on the side). We shall probably be back, in due course.
First time here. We sat at the bar. We order from the prix fixe menu. Food and wine were outstanding. The bartender, Wes could not have been more helpful in making choices. He seemed very knowledgeable about the menu and offered a few things that were not on the menu. We split appetizers - burrata and the rockfish. We expected the burrata to be a little more creamy in the middle. It was more like a typical mozzarella, but was still delicious. The rockfish was perfectly seasoned and prepared. For the main course we had the a pasta dish and a veal chop. Both were perfectly cooked and delicious. For dessert we had the poached pears with gelato and the tiramisu. Again, both were delicious. The value for the meal was very good and the service was also very good. We would definitely recommend dinner here.
This restaurant has really gone downhill. We’ve been going there for several years and have enjoyed it in the past. But the other night was not good. First we watched the owner kick someone out of the restaurant. Then they got my meal wrong. I sent it back twice and finally gave up even though it was still wrong. They not only didn’t take it off the bill, but they didn’t even offer a drink or dessert to make up for it. I will not go back.
We had a very very delightful birthday celebration... the location is terrific Visa V where I live. And it's always very friendly.
Surprisingly, our food and service was subpar. I have eaten here several times before and, while the food was just so-so, the service made up for it. Not so this time. The server was borderline rude to the point that myself and my dinner guests actually felt uncomfortable. Food was ok.
This place is a local gem. The food and the service are always outstanding.
This was our 5th year going to this restaurant for Easter dinner. We were not disappointed. They have a pre-fixe menu for $39 a person that includes a wide range of appetizers, main courses, and desserts. I had the mussels, crab pasta, and cannoli. All were excellent. The meal is served with a nice soft garlic bread which you can dip in olive oil. We were not rushed and the waiter was very attentive. I highly recommend.
Best Italian Restaurant in Alexandria! They have the best staff, food, and atmosphere. This is true neighborhood gem. The good is superior as is the value. They use the freshest ingredients and make their own pasta and most deserts.
Somewhat limited menu choices and pretty expensive, but otherwise pretty good.
Always great to visit A La Lucia. Staff is tremendous. Met Chef and had an opportunity to tell him about how wonderful a job he and the staff do each and every day by providing great seafood and pasta delights. Love coming here.
The Caesar salad was lackluster and without flavor, like eating plain lettuce. We had their veal on a trip a couple of years ago and fell in love with this restaurant while visiting Alexandria. We tried to choose the same veal dish but was disappointed. The veal itself was very tender and good but our choice of parmesan gratin for the veal was not. The last time we ordered this dish, it was robust. Dessert was good as was the service. I guess we were disappointed because we were blown away the first time we dined here and hoped for the same but received a very average meal instead.
A lot of my co workers love this restaurant. I have now been there 3 times and been disappointed with the flavor of the food. It is the kind of Italian food my 5 year old nephew would enjoy.
Felt a bit neglected by staff on a rainy Tuesday pizza night. Got our drinks and food but then abandoned by our waiter so a glass of wine with dinner never occurred. Owner and staff did Lots of chatting with regulars and other tables but we were a bit of an island. We enjoy the place and will go back as this was an anomaly, we hope.
All was very good. Service was friendly and efficient. Certainly recommended.
The food, service and atmosphere were all superb. We had the three course meal with a bottle of wine. The mussels were perfect and the black linguini with seafood was excellent as well. The rosemary sea salt bread was an unexpected treat. If we are ever in town again it will be very hard to go anywhere else.
Food was yummy. Booth tables a bit too snug and close together. Parking is fairly easy. The were quick to get things off the table but i did not feel hurried.
First time dinner and would definitely come back. Food was great. Fresh ingredients, quality meats. Caesar salad was fresh, great flavor and taste. Waiter was professional and personable.
Highly recommend.
We celebrated a friend's 80th birthday. The staff was very engaged and helped make it a special occasion.
The food was excellent except the Caesar Salad which in the past has been better.
Overall, it was a successful celebration and we enjoyed the food and waiter service.
Francesca
Quiet, great service, seafood, pasta, and wine. Christian was our server and was exceedingly helpful. Recommendations did not disappoint. High marks to all.
As usual, the food was great and the service good.
Packed to the gills on a Saturday night. They handled the crowd well and with only a slight delay in receiving our food for the 7 of us. They wine list is well worth it and that always gets my attention when choosing a location for a nice dinner. We had a variety of dishes and all were served at the right temperature. Our waiter was very efficient.
This is always one of my go to places and they do not disappoint. The veal chop is outstanding.
Excellent restaurant in quiet corner of North Old Town. Fabulous food, attentive staff, great place.
Once again, A La Lucia was superb! Excellent cuisine, outstanding attentive service and all for a very reasonable price. Thanks for keeping us coming back for more!
My wife and I took some friends who were visiting the area to A La Lucia. The food was terrific, the service efficient but warm and friendly. It made for a great evening.
To start, the focaccia bread and olive order was realllllly good!!!!
We ordered a 4 cheese sampler as a primi. For our meals, my daughter ordered the manicotti, which was surprisingly the best I've ever had! My husband ordered the black fettuccini with mixed seafood. Unfortunately, they were out of clams, so they substituted for mussels which took up a lot of room on the plate. I ordered the veal raviolini, which is itty bitty raviolis with maybe a half a teaspoon of meat. The sauce was very tasty but very mild, but I didn't realize there was so little meat in these raviolis! The wait staff was fantastic! Overall, the meal was good, we'd come back to try something else. I do suggest the manicotti!
Wanted to get out of our local rut. Wasn't sure where this was in relationship to Old Town, and ended up touring Old Town by car instead of walking around after dinner as originally planned. 35-40 min drive for us. There's a very good local Italian restaurant we frequent on occasion. Still, I would make the longish drive again just for this restaurant. Comfortable atmosphere, great service, and REALLY good food.
I had planned to meet a couple colleagues for dinner but I did not receive their cancellation notices until I was at the restaurant. I decided to stay and have a meal as I was hungry. The restaurant quickly changed me to a smaller table. Service was attentive. Enjoyed the rock fish fixed price special. Calamari appetizer was very good as was the poached pear with ice cream. Wine pours were reasonable and wine was reasonably priced. Family of four next to me was energetic but not offensive. Was originally put in a quieter corner that would have been good for the colleague with a hearing impairment. It was a very nice evening and I will return.
Typically would score it higher. However, service during the last visit was really poor.
Reallly enjoyed this place. Met friends from out of town and the food and service was fantastic. We will definitely go again. Thanks to the staff for a great evening!
It is a pleasant dinning experience. Good food and nice place
Good food. Excellent service.
Make the drive into northern old town occasionally to hit A la Lucia. Great Italian food, great service, as always. Only downside ever is if the cross-trainer folks are having a big workout day next door -you can hear the weights and tires flying around. That will not keep me away though.
Visiting from out of town and spotted this place on a walk - looked pretty cool. We were, ALL, very pleasantly surprised - especially without knowing anything about the restaurant. Thanks for a great evening!
