I had informed the restaurant of several food allergies ahead of time, and I spoke in detail with our server about them before ordering, and the server also consulted with the chef. Despite this caution, all three courses I ordered appeared on the table with an ingredient on my allergy list (which the kitchen had printed out), including one ingredient which I had identified as of particular concern. The mistakes were discovered before I ate anything, but given the kitchen's lack of attention, I would never go back.

I've wanted to try this restaurant for a long time, and I took advantage of Dine LA, and the no corkage Tues/Weds. This restaurant did not disappoint. I wish I had not waited so long to try it!
We had the Lamb Shank and Beef Bourguignon. Amazing flavors! Everyone, including chef and owner were very friendly! We will be back!

Food was magnificent, staff was attentive and very kind. I cannot wait to return. Don't miss the chocolate pot de creme, if available. Also, the mushroom torte starter dish was the envy of the whole table. Simply delicious!

Lovely chef came out to greet us. We really appreciate it. We ordered duck confit and lamb shank. We loved the duck confit with orange sauce and grapefruit combination. The lamb shank was very flavorful.

Though my girlfriend got the wrong main course but she still enjoyed it, it was little busy that day we went, a good place to go.

THE FOOD WAS EXCELLENT BUT THE COMFORT LEVEL AND DECOR WERE MISSING IN THIS LITTLE FRENCH RESTAURANT. UNFORTUNATELY, THEY CANNOT SERVE COCKTAILS BECAUSE THEY ONLY HAVE A LICENSE FOR WINE.

WAITERS AND STAFF WERE VERY FRIENDLY BUT CHAIRS WERE UNCOMFORTABLE AND DECORATION WAS A BIT TOO "HIPPIE" AND FUNKY FOR OUR TASTE

For all of being a neighborhood style restaurant, it was significantly overpriced. I spent less at Bouchon when it was open. Also, for some reason, no valet. Big problem with parking, especially when it was raining as it was the evening I dined. Portion sizes were small. The good things about it was good food and they had inexpensive wines which actually paired well with the food. The somm did a good job.

The ambiance was charming, cozy and romantic. The escargots were different and wonderful. I had the cod, which was delicious and melted in my mouth...my wife had the chicken, which she described as tender and the combination of the herbs transported her back to Paris where she lived briefly years ago. We would definitely recommend this restaurant. What a find!

A Food Affair is a completely delightful restaurant. As fans of french food who have spent a significant amount of time in Paris, Provence, Burgundy, etc., we are consistently impressed by the authenticity of the food here, which is always Gallic in inspiration, but not slavish in imitation of, for example, specifically brasserie or bistro food. The service is wonderful, and you are made immediately welcome. It really feels like a cozy little francophile refuge in the middle of Los Angeles.

I was very disappointed! I feel the food was good but not great, as per our expectations. We also did not appreciate that the vegetable side dishes we ordered arrived 15 minutes after our main courses arrive. Lastly, the service was very poor.

We wanted to find a bistro for a nice Sunday supper, and this place was perfect. It is a place we expect to return to many times. The chicken dish, served in small cast iron pots, was outstanding as was the duck confit with beluga lentils. Desserts were delicious too. And their wine list is nicely priced not to break the bank. We went on a Sunday but Tuesdays and Wednesdays they allow you to bring a bottle of wine and pay no corkage. We'll definitely try going on one of those days. Prices are reasonable.

When we walked in I got nervous. A large party of 12 had just been seated, and I worried it would take forever to get our food. But we were seated quickly, the waiter was jovial and attentive, and the kitchen didn't miss a beat. The mushroom torte was decadent and my duck confit was cooked to perfection. This is NOT a fancy restaurant but the food rivals the best in the city. Even the "cocktails" (the restaurant serves beer and wine) were fabulous. I had a wine mojito and it was out of this world. We were too full to stay for dessert. Next time.

The buzz about this place is well-deserved and we'll be back soon.

Food was excellent as was service. They need, for first time customers, a prominent well-lit sign with the restaurant's name: we drove by twice before deciding that it must be the place.

After 3 years in France I felt as if I was welcomed back home by Babette and Christian as soon as I stepped into the more spacious remodeled space with updated menus:)

The biggest news is that they got their license to sell wine!!!! They still offer free corkage some nights, so if you want to bring a bottle, you can, but their Eurocentric house selection is broad enough for most tastes.

We ordered the mushroom Tourte, a mouthwatering medley atop puff pastry. Christian insisted on having us taste his homemade foie gras, which was so good with the fruit compote and pomegranate seeds on grilled bread that we asked for more bread to eat every sliver of foie!

The specials last night included a succulent lamb tagine and a flash fried whole red snapper that both showcased Christian's deft and versatile skills in the kitchen. The lamb shank tangine was meltingly tender, redolent in spices, and the whole snapper had a Thai twist with the accompanying sauce and spices. Both were such generous portions we took half home so we could share a dessert of creme brulée, so rich in vanilla bean seeds that we could smell it before we tasted it, topped with ripe seasonal fruit and served with a side of chocolate chips and roasted sunflower seeds.

I took a friend from NYC who had never been to Food Affair before and by the end of our meal, Babette and Christian had adopted her into the Food Affair family :)

OK for not so glamorous, but good food. Outside area is now way to cold because they took off roof cover, and I gather that City is not allowing a replacement.

I've been here three times, now, all after attending the theatre. This definitely ranks as one of the best restaurants in the area, to my mind. Attentive service, authentic and unusual dishes, delicious time after time, make it my favorite go-to spot for a special, romantic, and fun dinner.

My partner had a birthday dinner here (again) with some friends. The food, the ambience and the service were all perfect. May not be the fanciest restaurant in town but it’s at par with any 5-star french restaurant in LA.

What an excellent dining experience! Truly authentic, but modern. We had the escargot (unreal), bone marrow, brussel sprouts, and duck leg confit. It was all splendid. We were celebrating a birthday and were thanked by the chef - truly great service by all the staff as well. Definitely on the pricier side - but worth it!

This restaurant is an exemplary demonstration of the vibrancy and character that LA is known for. The staff is exceptional and the owner even came by to speak with us. The rosemary chicken dish is to die for, and the brussel sprout/kale ensemble side is delectable.

First time visiting and it was amazing! I was celebrating my fiancé's birthday. We tried the Grilled Romaine as an appetizer and OMG the flavors were perfect! We definitely want to try this at home. For dinner I had the Moms Beef Bourgignon and my fiancé tried the Rib Eye. The meat on both dishes was so tender! I really appreciated the chef coming out and greeting us. Very personable. I also loved that they brought out a macaroon dessert to celebrate his birthday! Only bummer was that the Mojito I ordered was mostly ice and tasted like mint water. But besides that the atmosphere was very comfortable and romantic to have a special night at.

This was my friends and my first time at this restaurant. We found it very charming and quaint. It's not a large restaurant --there is indoor and outdoor seating. We felt the service was wonderful and the French food was excellent. The Chef came around to see if we liked our entrées --and of course we did. He was lovely and very humble. Even though I do love wine, my only wish would be that we had the option of having a cocktail. Otherwise my friends and I will definitely come back.
