Four of us had a fabulous meal in one of the cozy booths on the wall of the restaurant. The service was impeccable and friendly. Our waitperson was knowledgeable about the wines on the large list of unusual wines, many from Eastern Europe and even the republic of Georgia, and helped us choose interesting wines that paired well with our food. We started with the delicate seafood empanadas, followed by a big bowl of mussels with frites. One of us is not a mussel lover but he ate his share on this visit. We mopped up every drop of the delicious Pernod cream sauce enrobing the mussels with the requested extra bread provided. We followed this up with a shared spinach pansotti and swordfish with blood orange relish. We enjoyed a memorable dinner that we are anxious to repeat.
You guys are awesome -- thanks for being so accommodating
We just had the most fabulous dining experience at Au Côte. We've dined here many times but not for a while. Had a 6 o'clock reservation...a really good time to go before it gets crazy busy. Our waiter Chris really made the night...very attentive without being obtrusive...a real sweetheart. We had the pomme frites...always awesome. Artichoke soup, beet salad and then the best sword fish we've ever had...not tough and so delicious that it blew your mind. We will get back to being regulars!
Wonderful, as always. Outstanding food, terrific wines (thank you, Jeff!), and a terrific experience.
Simply one of the best restaurants, consistently, in the east bay and Oakland/Berkeley area
Rick, our server was exceptional! Very knowledgeable about the Georgian and Hungarian wines. He went the extra mile in his service.
Cozy ambiance; knowledgeable servers; food always excellent. Some dishes a bit pricey as small plates, but worthwhile. Thanks for being consistently good.
I've been going to A Cote for years and they are still serve consistently great food with a relaxed ambiance. Our server was down to earth, attentive and knowledgeable. I couldn't ask for more.
My dinner companions are VERY fussy regarding dinner entrees, preparation , wine and over all service. A Cote outdid them selves and earned star ratings from my guests. I love A Cote myself -- for their consistently delicious food and service.
The food is good. I found the fish entree rather small for the price.
Great dinner. Would like to see more vegetarian options but always great to come to!
Pretty good service. Very nice wine. Rather good food. Uncomfortably loud and the worst selection in music ever. Annoying, invasive improvisational jazz. Completely inappropriate for dining. Will think twice before coming back.
Great waiter, he only has worked there for a couple months, but was very gracious, accommodating, helpful...
Incredible food. Great service. Interesting collection of natural wines.
The menu sounded good but the meals were disappointed. I expected the smoked trout to be somewhat dry and definitely smoked. It tasted more like baked. That appetizer was way too large and filled with celery root.
The swordfish was very very dry. Perhaps overlooked
The dessert was ok
Could have some California wines in the list
Not sure I will go back.
When I ordered my food, I mentioned I was vegan. Our waitress let us know what I could order, and so I ordered pasta with no pancetta or cheese. Everyone’s food came out besides mine. I tried to get my waitresses attention which took about 15 mins. After I mentioned I had no food on the table she went back to check, a few minutes later a lady came back out with my food but with cheese. I took it back and it took another 30 or so mins finally the right food came out. It was a horrible experience watching everyone eat, then eating by myself.
Most interesting wine list around. And they found a bottle which was just perfect for the occasion. And don't forget to try the pommel frites. Excellent.
Grilled flatiron steak
Snail-shaped pasta with truffle mushroom sauce
Wines are eclectic (Greece, Sardinia , etc..) but good.
We love everything about A Cote. When you want a nice night out with great food, this is it. I could eat everything on the menu, which offers a variety of flavors and types of quality, fresh food. Excellent cocktails, always a plus. It's a nice mix of casual, romantic, fine dining and I'm hungry now just remembering our delicious dishes. Go. If you don't like it, then I don't think we can be friends. ;)
This is our go to restaurant weekdays ( hard to get in on weekdays), always constant quality food. We enjoy sharing entrees and conversation. Great wine list, you might need some help navigating but they are always are ready to help. Highly recommended.
Food was very good, and service at the bar was stellar. I have previously had a phenomenal experience at this restaurant, so I was disappointed when we walked in and could only be seated by the windows in front. We were freezing and moved to the bar- was still cold their but bearable. Other people in the restaurant were wearing coats and hats lest you all think I am just over-sensitive. Not sure if heat was broken or something, but would have rather them said that was the issue, and then I would have likely felt more empathy. Instead I felt uncared for. Fortunately food was still good, and one awesome bar tender made up for our experience by being a great listener. I would go back- they have an amazing wine list, and I am hoping this was an anomaly.
Food and service was excellent.
ACote is my grandchildren ‘s favorite restaurant, I was in town from St Louis & treated me hem to dinner, we were all very happy & full!
The food here is great. Second time here and have not been disappointed.
A Cote is an established restaurant and the French flair runs through the entire menu with some healthy options available. Just about everything is well prepared, from mussels to fish to dessert. For Valentine's Day there were 2 flights of rose wines available--very nice.
The down side is that service was meh, not too friendly and towards the end of the meal somewhat inattentive, which resulted in a late evening. We asked to be reseated to the front as the rear was drafty (not sure why we were seated in the rear with a heat lamp to begin with as we had reservations). Unfortunately the front was also quite drafty and uncomfortably cool for the entire meal.
We had a lovely Valentine's dinner. The service was excellent and we always enjoy the small plates!
Came here for Galentine’s day. Great ambiance - very Parisian with low lights, cozy atmosphere. Staff are friendly. I had the cassoulet and the meat was falling off the bone and delicious! My friend had a pasta dish and the sauce was very rich and the noodles perfectly aldente! Large selection of European wines that can be a bit overwhelming but our server was very knowledgeable. I would definitely come back!
Many, many visits and we've never been disappointed!
I truly have never had a more pleasant dining experience. The staff, the food, the ambiance.... truly wondeful. i will absolutely be returning and will recommend this place to everyone i know!!!

Fabulous food, loved the back patio with the heater!
We love this restaurant and the staff. Our 7 year old daughter constantly asks to go here. It is not easy to find a place that we all feel comfortable at and enjoy so much. 5 stars without hesitation!
We just love this place, and have gone back repeatedly -- first, the great staff is welcoming, helpful and go out of their way to help on wine selections and food. Then there's the ambiance -- the back patio is wonderful in summer, the inside is lovely and you can actually hear conversations! And the food: the idea is to order dishes, and share with the whole table, and they also offer wine flights, which are really creative. Great variety -- awesome flatbreads with toppings, mussels are amazing, flat iron steak, and excellent range of choices, vegetarian and otherwise. And great wine selections. All around, a favorite, especially if you have a group of friends or family to share those dishes with..
Outstanding service and great food. This was a wonderful meal in every way
A friend and I dined at A Cote on SuperBowl Sunday, as our husbands have a long-standing tradition of a gentlemen's gathering.
The cocktails were delicious, as was the wine. The salt cod fritters were wonderful, and I enjoyed my flat iron stake greatly. My friend didn't know the pork tenderloin was in a batter, and would have preferred that be noted on the menu, but enjoyed her meal.
We had only one issue -- with the dark walls and early sunset time, it was very difficult to see our food -- and we nearly started a fire with the candle when trying to read the bill! That said, we're in our 70s! Next time I dine at A Cote, I'll go during daylight savings time and the darkness will be a non-issue.
The food was delicious and our server was very accommodating. A friend in our group is Vegan and while there are many vegetarian options on the menu, it was challenging to find anything Vegan. However, our server worked with the kitchen to change a dish by substituting a vegan pasta.
The food was delicious. Our waiter's recommendations for wines were right on. She sort of forgot about us for a while, she recognized it and she comped a glass of wine. Overall, we were very happy.
Fabulous food—will be coming back with family.
Fabulous food. Only note was that they bring out the entrés as they are made so you have some people eating before others. This is planned but a head’s up would have been nice.
The food was lovely and our server was excellent. I went to dine for my birthday with my parents and it was just right. The restaurant was very busy for a Sunday night but it seemed they were used to that. The place is small but doesn't feel cramped and overall I felt it was the perfect place to celebrate.
