À Côté is a small-plates restaurant in Oakland's charming Rockridge district. Cozy tables surround large communal tables in both the main dining room and on the sunny patio to create a festive atmosphere. Small plates reflecting the best of seasonal Mediterranean cuisine are served family-style by a friendly and knowledgeable staff. Menu items are paired with a carefully chosen selection of over 40 wines by the glass as well as a highly diverse bottled wine menu. Specialty drinks featuring fresh fruits, rare botaniques and fine liqueurs are featured at the bar.
We got to sit outside, was lovely. Wines were excellent, mussels and fries, scrumptious! Also had the chicken with mushrooms, potatoes, and asparagus was so good!
Warning for the backroom...VERY loud. Not sure if this was just because a group was sitting there. Also waiter took a while to get to our table but he was polite and great for the rest of the meal. The food was delicious and will definitely try again but ask for the front room instead
Great place for food and ambiance- love this restaurant. The mussels are always delicious and the wine list of excellent
Generally good food, good service. Although I like the music, at times it's too just loud and hard to hear others. Set a lower volume for the music so it's easy to talk with others. Sometimes the chairs of the tables are too close to other tables' chairs -- check that the chairs are spaced properly to avoid this.
It was all good. Favorite neighborhood French and small plates.
Very welcoming, warm and much like a very special European experience.
Great service (Prompt). Nice food and a great selection of wine.
Delicious food, energetic ambiance. We sat outside but heater wasn't working, and server was a bit strange. Overall enjoyed our experience - will be back!
Great service, good happy hour deal!
Food was good, our service was slow:(
Never disappoints! We loved the Bulgarian menu and the Georgian wines!
Great place for any special occSuon
We had a delicious meal with a great wine flight of Thracian wines. The gnocchi was our favorite! Our server was fun and attentive.
The food is delicious. The ambiance is great. Worthy to go with a family. The prices are honest, not cheap, but fair. I will go back there for sure.
Enjoyed the fine food and service with friends .Mussels and fries!
We had a great dinner paired with a really good Zinfandel. We were seated in the are in the back of the restaurant. It’s very cozy and a great spot fir a date. The service was exceptional!
We have been going here for years. The mussels are our favorite. The wine list is always novel and changing. The waitstaff is fabulous. They are very knowledgeable and attentive.
I love the location but honestly the food was disappointing. Maybe go for wine!
The best mussels I’ve ever eaten and that fried chicken dish was the stuff dreams are made of! Can’t wait to come back again!
First time back at A Cote in over 10 years and it was still great.
Food and wine were outstanding!!
Tables are very close together so not a spot for date like conversations!!
Music was really loud too and we sat right under a speaker.
Hope next time we return for a different seating Option but food was outstanding and ambiance was cool just tooo loud and no personal space.
We will most certainly be back but with different expectations for a date night!!!
A Cote never disappoints... charming French -ish neighborhood bistro. Outstanding cocktail menu and a very unusual wine list. Server was incredibly knowledgeable about wines from Russia and other unique places... we tried a red from Macedonia that was outstanding! The pear salad could have used a little more flavor/dressing, but good size and very fresh. Flatbreads were very good and asparagus soup bright and flavorful! We will be back.
Wonderful date night ambience. Great food and ambience!
Service was very good - food was mediocre- we didn’t drink but our friends loved their cocktails - good place to drink not so great for dinner.
A wine bar that serves an eclectic wine list. Unfortunately, as some of these wines are uncommon, they are seldom ordered. As a result, some of the wine had been seemingly opened and re-corked long ago. 🙁
I've been coming to A Cote' for years. I took my husband there for his birthday dinner, and was a little disappointed in the menu selection. There was only one seafood main dish and it was a lackluster Sole. Otherwise everything else was great, but the great selection I have always enjoyed in the past was not present. Maybe just a bad day or week? Amazing cocktail and dessert though.
I'm so used to A Cote's food selections being exceptional, and I guess it can't always be so.
Dining at A Cote is an intimate and wonderful experience. It’s dark and cozy and the staff is like family. Can’t go wrong!
Food and service were very good. However were seated in the back which was cold and drafty, even with the overhead heaters on. Next time will sit in the front room.
Great wine list. Excellent servers.
Always a great experience, where you will never be disappointed with the food, staff, and service.
We've eaten at A Cote many times and have enjoyed the food. The noise level during our last visit was unbearable to the extent that we were not able to hold a conversation at our table.
Great food When the restaurant made an error they quickly rectified it!
As stated, the food and ambiance were great. However, we had to wait quite a while for ordering our drinks after we were sat at our table.
Awesome. We were coming from seeing Hamilton in San Francisco. We were not going to keep our reservation time. I called them to let them know we would be late. They welcomed us and took excellent care to insure everything was on point. We all really appreciated their service and professionalism.
THANK YOU A’COTE
Excellent service, good food, fun gastronomic experience...
Hungarian special dish: meze was very expensive for the quality of ingredients, taste and size. Not to Côté standards.
Beet flatbread, while delicious is also very overpriced at $21; $12 seems way more equitable.
We enjoyed our time there Amazing whiskey menu Found it cold temperature wise
Loved everything except how dark it was inside the restaurant—could barely read the menus!
Staff was friendly, but service was just too slow. Mussels and flat bread were good. Flatiron steak was mediocre.
We thoroughly enjoyed our experience. There was something on the menu that was exciting for each of the four of us. The sole was fantastic as were the flatbreads. The dressing on the starter salad was superb.
Nice wine, cocktail and beer list.
We will be back.
