A Caprice Ratings and Reviews
THE FOUNDER OF BON APPETIT MAGAZINE - M. FRANK JONES - LOVED THIS RESTAURANT AND WE CAN SEE WHY! THE SERVICE IS INDEED OUTSTANDING AND IT IS LIKE STEPPING BACK IN HISTORY TO A TIME WHEN GOOD FOOD WAS SAVORED ALONG WITH PRESENTATION. THE ORCHIDS ON EACH TABLE DON'T HURT A BIT!
Great food, service was not up to par. Seemed very slow and was not busy. Our server knocked over the candle that was on the table and it fell all over my pant leg and shoe, gave an dimissive apology. Based on food only, we would return, but only hope the service improves.
We came for the Valentine's Day special. We were blown out of the water with how wonderful the food, service, view and overall loveliness of the Restaurant was. It made our Valentines day even that much more special!
The courses were amazing and we ended up trading a few bites to try the other one's dish! There wasn't one bad thing to say about it!
We told all our friends and family what a wonderful experience we had and how we plan to come back and they should drive over the bridge to try it out themselves as well! Being locals of San Francisco, born and raised, we are so lucky to have this gem within reach anytime!!
Thank you so much! It was incredible!

The Valentine dinner was excellent. The food was outstanding, except that the beef wellington could have been a little more flavourful. As always the view was outstanding. The service was excellent but the staff could be a little less aggressive in taking away your plates.
Often with view restaurants one rarely has food that lives up to views. Fortunately, such is not so with Caprice. This was our third visit to Caprice and it seems to get better each time. The food was stepped up a notch from our previous visit about ayear ago. The seafood risotto was excellent as was the dayboat scallops. The service was very good on a very busy night. They were very accomodating in splitting a salad in the kitchen. The wine list is a bit pricey but have a few very good ,modestly priced pinots.
The food was good, the service needs to be better. I was in a party of 3 and came in at 5:30. We did not get our food after an hour later. The waiters didnt tell me what was going on with our food until I asked them why its taking a long time. It was annoying to see everyone around us including those who came in later than us received their food. This was very annoying!
The food, service and food were wonderful. I've been eating at the Caprice on and off for many years and they are back to a very high standard. I was concerned because there was a large party in the banquet room downstairs, however, we were not disappointed with the friendly service and delicious food. I ordered my favorite, the Petrale Sole, and it was served warm with a generous serving of brussel sprouts. Very yummy.
We went during the Valentine's Day weekend. The seabass was a bit overcooked and a bit bland. The risoto with lobster was pretty good though. The deserts were done right too, and the coffee was great.
Depending on where you sit, you may not get much of a view.
This would have been a five star review except for the fact that we were ignored for several minutes upon arriving. We gave our name to a staffer at the front, and he could not be bothered to seat us. He just walked off and left us. Otherwise the food and the service (with the exception of this one staffer) were excellent.
Great place to go for special occasions or for a very nice dinner during the week. The food was excellent and the service is terrific. The cocktails were an ample pour and there was an excellent wine list. We have been there many times and we have always been impressed with all the entree's. Jinnie
Enjoyed the food and the view is fantastic (had a particulary clear, sunny day)...but the advertisment said $35 for a $85 value. I can't figure out how they came out to a $85 value. YOu were allowed one drink ($10 each) and one item of the main menu (items were $14 to $28 each).....so if you each had a drink, and the pancakes for example the value was only $48....I asked if I could have the pancakes and a side of bacon ($5) and they said no, you could only have an item of the main menu. So of course we ordered the most expensive items...I had the sole (which was delicious) and my husband had the pasta....total value: $68. Was a good deal for what we had but think the $85 value was a bit of false advertising.
A nice room with a beautiful view of the golden gate, especially at sunset. The drinks and food were all done very well. Started with oysters for me and a nice salad for my wife. She had the prawn dish, and scallops for me,both very well prepared. Service was attentive a pleasure.
We went to Caprice with a coupon from TravelZoo, which was $39 for 2 entrees and 2 mimosas. Although the coupon was a little bit misleading as it said you were receiving a value of $82, the food was delicious and the mimosas were perfect. We had a beautiful view of Angel Island and the Golden Gate Bridge.
A Caprice is a real find, and luckily we "refound" it for our 45th anniversary. We moved from Marin County to Berkeley in 1967, and for some reason never went back to this small gem, as it seemed like too long a drive. It's worth the drive! We had a table with a night view of the Golden Gate Bridge and San Francisco in the distance. The waitperson was very attentive and friendly, the noise level was very tolerable, and the food was marvelous. We both had different fish dishes, cooked perfectly. Mine was sole accompanied by perfectly cooked brussel sprouts, and a special black rice dish that was chewy and interesting. My husband had halibut with rice and asparagus, which he found delicious. We'll be back soon with friends and relatives
Took my fiancé here for his 40th bday. Asked for the best table when I made reservations . We had a nice view but not too intimate and was next to a big group that was very loud. I specified on the reservations that we were celebrating a bday but the waitress never even mentioned it,, I had I mention it to her. Why do they even take requests if they don't fulfill them? He waitress wasn't very attentive at all and took a while to even take our order , we asked for more bread and she forgot so we had to ask the bus boy . We used a restaurant . Com certificate for only 25 dollars and they automatically charge us the gratuity , maybe that's why the waitress didn't really care because she knew she would be getting a good tip.
