From the valet, to the bartender to the host to the waiter: everyone was friendly and welcoming. The food was good. The NYE prices were steep but expected. Too bad the place is sold to new management after 50 years. Hopefully things only change for the better for the staff and customer.
We went to A Caprice for an early New Year's Eve dinner. We have gone to the restaurant for the past few years and is always lovely. They do a price-fixe dinner with choice of starter, entrée and dessert. We started with champagne and then ordered our meals. We felt a little rushed initially but then it was better once we had ordered. We both has the lobster bisque which was great. My husband had the rack of lamb and loved it and I had the beef which was excellent and it came with vegetables and my favorite au-gratin potatoes. I finished with the apple cobbler which was the only disappointment felt like they put vanilla wafers on the apples - just not your typical cobbler. My husband had vanilla ice cream which always pleases him. Overall, it was excellent and you can't beat the atmosphere. It is such a beautiful location on the bay in Tiburon. Apparently the restaurant has been sold and some remodeling will be done. I hope they keep the overall elegant atmosphere that has made it a special place for generations.
We come here often for the food and the views. Lots of variety, never have had anything We didn’t like, professional cooking and service. Everyone we bring here loves it! We are so sorry it will enclosing til summer with the change in ownership and renovations. We very much want the return of the chef, menu and staff. That even includes the parking valet!
Excellent Bay Area restaurant with cozy and very scenic ambiance. Great location just outside of Sausalito and nice drive from downtown San Fran. Excellent cocktails and appetizers followed by wide choice of entree options. Recommended by family who live in Berkeley who joined us and nothing short of a wonderful experience. Will recommend and will return on next trip out..
Device was below average, nice guys and trying but not up to par with a nice restaurants, they forgot the "amuse bouche" even after he told us about them, they also forgot to give us bread which we had to ask after the appetizers were served.
Food was just OK, not great, and decor is in dire need of updating, old carpets and hole in the ceiling was patched with cardboard.

I have dined here for more than 2 decades using it mostly for special occasions because of the setting, the ambiance, the food, always something enticing, and the exquisite service from all the wait staff but especially if you're lucky enough to get Sean Tighe who has served there for 17 years so far. Took my wife there before we were engaged and take her there still for anniversaries and birthdays, etc. I would frequent it more often but for my 45 mile distance. Last Friday evening I met with 2 other college alums and wives, six in total. Everyone was completely satisfied. I had the most succulent and perfectly seared large sea scallops that were as fresh as I expected. The veges were pureed allowing more of their natural flavors to release. My Greek descendant wife, not surprisingly, chose the rack of lamb. "Puurrfect" she exclaimed and she is such a purrfectionist herself. Each of our party exclaimed their delight with the food, the service and the cosy ambiance. Our large table was set completely in the rear of the dining room and I was pleased that the noise level was only moderate and emanating mostly from our own table. I am so glad that Caprice still exists in its location and still adheres to excellence in culinary preparations appropriately refreshed with new and interesting additions and to its service, including valet parking.
We love the Caprice's small ambiance, amazing food, beautiful views, and amazing servers. Our server Jeff even went out of his way to take a great family picture. He cleared the tables to remove distractions from the picture. We have been more than pleased every time we eat there. We drive from San Mateo to get there.
What a surprise. The restaurant and town of Tiburon are perfect off-the-beaten path places. Service was exceptional and the food was spot on. But the view of SF Bay, San Francisco, Golden Gate Bridge, and the water front area of Tiburon are worth the trip to Caprice. But we enjoyed a whole lot more.
The Caprice is an old school steak and seafood restaurant, and I mean that as a compliment. Its a quiet neighborhood with amazing Bay/Golden Gate views from Tiburon. We tried it for the first time recently and were a little apprehensive since there were very few other diners in the restaurant when we arrived on a Friday night a little after 6:00 p.m. (which is admittedly early, but I still would have expected more diners. We started with half dozen fresh local (Tomales Bay) Miyagi oysters on the half-shell served over ice just the way I like them. (very good). For her entre my wife ordered Rack of Lamb, which was superb - tender, moist and flavorful. I got the surf and turf (a tender filet mignon with a fresh lobster tail) It was all very fresh and prepared perfectly. We thoroughly enjoyed our meal. Wait staff was very friendly and helpful. If you are looking for a really good old school steak/seafood restaurant the Caprice fits the bill. Give it a try.
We went for Thanksgiving and had some of the traditional foods for dinner. The server was wonderful, as was the view (that’s what we were there for, tbh). The food didn’t use great quality ingredients or creative presentation, but the desserts were yum! This is one of those restaurants that probably hasn’t changed its core menu since the 70s and caters to an older crowd, but overall not a bad experience for a meal with an unbeatable view.
Food and view were both great however service was under par from the moment we arrived.
We have been to the restaurant handful of times and service was always great. We had a group of 6 so gratuity was included. I’m wondering if the lack of service was due to the fact that gratuity was included.
We love this place - great location, quiet, romantic, very good wait staff. ONly one gripe- they not allow "reserving the prime rib" when you make a reservation. Monday is Prime Rib night, so if you want it, tell them when you make the reservation. We went early and were told wee were too late - all ordered. This is an odd quirk.
We showed up about 10 minutes before our reservation time and had an issue finding parking. Luckily, a family was leaving, so we were able to make it. However, we didn't get seated until 30 minutes past our reservation. Despite over booking, the food was excellent with a beautiful view of the bay.
Special anniversary dinner and it was treated as such by service staff. Great time from start to finish. Fantastic butternut squash soup, beets tower apps. I loved the filet and my wife loved her scallops. Good portions to be satisfied by the end of meal. Trio of chocolate was just right.
Three guests and I enjoyed a lovely evening at Caprice. Fabulous view of bay and SF. Very good martinis and wonderful Chardonnay started us out right. The butter lettuce and Caesar salads are excellent. All our entrees were outstanding, saffron seafood risotto, sole, and halibut. Creme brûlée over the top good. Service unexcelled.
I don't recommend this restaurant. They let you wait 1 hour even if you arrive 10 minutes before your reservation plus additional wait for the food. They let people seat who arrive 30-40 after you. Service is so terrible. Host is terrible. Food is lackluster.
Longest wait time and worst restaurant I've ever been to. Doesn't deserve any stars at all.
the food and service were amazing and the waterfront views were just amazing , defenitely made date night truly special and both my boyfriend and I can't wait to go back. Its worth the drive and are server was absolutely amazing and recommended next time we request a window seat. look forward to many great meals ahead.
Went for Prime Rib but restaurant failed to tell us we had to reserve it when we made reservation. Very disappointed but had a nice meal. Pappardelle and shrimp was excellent. Spouse had Cesaer salad and filet, both very good. Unbeatable views and valet parking. Next time we know to reserve the Prime, but too many great restaurants in Marin.
