The historical building that now houses Ristorante A CA MIA was built in 1872. William Essen operated a bakery and ice cream parlor until 1914 when he sold it to his niece and her husband, Carl and Margaret Kokes. The business remained in his family for over 60 Years. The bakery is one of the oldest bakeries in continuous operation in the country. By the mid 1930s, the ice cream parlor had become the dining room and the business was operated as a restaurant as it is to this day. Our kitchen is under the direction of Chef Todor Videv. We are available for private parties. We offer early seating dinner selections. We accommodate well behaved children.

Way too noisy
Nice place, great service. However, the food is nothing special. The marinara has no flavor and is watery. Chicken in the chicken parm was soggy because the sauce was so watery. The bruschetta was delicious though.
Food was good. Service was slow due to insufficient staffing. Unfortunately we were near a boisterous group of eleven that ruined our (and others) dining experience. Left before dessert due the noise level and picked something up in the attached bakery.
Excellent service, friendly staff and food is consistently good. This is a staple of ours every time we come to Cape May.
Since that was one of only a few places where we could find a last minute Saturday evening reservation, I did not have high expectations, but was pleasantly surprised. Menu is pretty standard American Italian fare, but food was fresh and well prepared. Seating on the patio overlooking Washington Street
We enjoyed our dinner at A Ca Mia. Food was good but I wouldn’t say outstanding. The Caesar salad was good….not exceptional. It didn’t have anchovies. My husband’s tilapia was a little dry. The ravioli dish consisted of 2 mushroom raviolis, 2 lobster raviolis and 4 regular cheese filled raviolis, which you could tell were not home made. They provide a warmed roll for each customer. I would have preferred Italian bread, since it is an Italian restaurant, but the rolls were warm & crispy and good.
It was very crowded and the host seemed a bit overwhelmed with people hounding him about their reservations. I think they may have over booked the night we went there. That said we only had to wait about 15 minutes past our reservation time. The food was very good although it did feel like the tables were crammed in the dining area which made the quaint restaurant feel cramped and very noisy. Also it is BYOB.
- Vegetable Lasagna Very good
- Rack Of Lamb Very good
Extremely fast & attentive staff. Delicious food. Great location.
Good food excellent waitress Nicolina.
Chicken parm very good pasta was delicious tasted like homemade. I tried the 3 Ravioli dish the cheese were my favorite. I would definitely recommend dining there. Thank you for the pleasant experience.
Our first trip here. Despite an unexpected rain shower outdoor tables were available and service was excellent. I had the crab cake and my wife had the vegetable lasagna. Both entrees were excellent and we intend to return.
A great, enjoyable time outside along the walk. Great food. People watching. What else could you ask for?
We loved it-Delicious!
We can always count on the food and service
Have been here four times always excellent food and service at a a fair price .
First visit, impressed with the food and service! Appetizers were delicious and generous, we had smoked fish platter and a summer salad, all fresh and beautifully presented. My entree was a special, pasta with a creamy sauce, prosciutto, and peas-
took half home to enjoy again. My husband had a fish entree which he enjoyed as well- cleaned his plate! We will try to return before the end of the season.
We got engaged after that dinner! Veal as amazing and waitress and host were very accommodating. Decaf cappuccino nice and hot and wonderful. Only rush the Caesar salad had more flavor…there was no garlic or anchovy paste or black pepper and could use lies grated cheese too. Everything else was fabulous!
Went with my husband and our family. I have the vegetable lasagna , he had the shrimp scampi. Both were great. The Veg lasagna was amazing , tons of veggie s not just full of cheese. I would highly recommend .
Wonderful experience dining outside on the Mall. Service was prompt. Food was fresh and well prepared. Vegetable lasagna was excellent. The tiramisu for dessert was light and flavorful. We loved the dinner.
Shrimp scampi too salty. Other dishes were good, especially the soup.
Great all around !!!!
The food was excellent as was the service and in today’s world where restaurants are struggling to find help that says a lot. Not sure how we’ve missed this place all these years but we won’t again
It was a perfect anniversary dinnet
Great selection of excellent dishes. Convenient location with car park 200 yds away
The food and service were very good as always. We shared the Insalata
A Ca Mia, For entrees we had chicken Parmigiana and crab cake w/pasta and asparagus. Both were delicious.
Please note: The actual menu prices are significantly higher than that published on the open table menu.
Disappointed that prices on line were different than those on menu (menu higher). Food was average. Inside ambiance is bright and boring.
It was just average
Just Ok, easy to get a table. Used to be an annual vacation favorite. Same menu, but inconsistent execution year over year.
It’s true, nothing lasts forever.
Good food. Efficient staff. Pricey for a basic menu with average portions, but BYOB aspect is a positive.
We have been there three times- twice in one week while on vacation. Love it.
Very busy but service was amazing and the food quality was delicious!!!
Food was delicious. Service was excellent. Dessert was excellent!
Menu on line was at least $5 cheaper than actual menu. Small portions for price. Asked for more bread and they wanted to charge me for it. Will not be returning.
My partner and I dined here over the weekend and the only word we can think to describe it is “okay.” He ordered the mussels in red with capellini which was nothing special- it was exactly what it sounds like. I ordered the crab cake that comes with a pesto capellini. The crab cake was pretty good, but the pasta was horrible. The sauce that came on it was not edible- neither of us were able to take more than 2 bites.
I would say there are many other restaurants in cape may for the same price and have much better overall quality of taste, ambiance, and service.
Exceptional service and food! And a bakery on premise so you can get delicious treats to go.
Great food. We enjoyed our experience. Will be back next time.
We arrived promptly at 5:30 PM and had a choice of indoor or outdoor seating. We enjoy the red pasta sauce and think it is the best.
great food … nice vibe
There was limited availability in cape May that night so our options were limited but so we were delighted with the food, service ect!
