we normally love this place. usually they have a decent menu and it’s fun to watch the planes. today we unknowingly turned up for a sunday buffet, and it was ghastly. just awful food, and so very expensive. we will definitely return for regular menu but never again the buffet. in fairness, i don’t generally like buffets b/c of the grossness factor of people having access to touch everything or worse, but the food had been sitting out for hours. the kids’ mini corn dogs were hard on the outside and rubbery and tough on the inside. other items seemed like they had been sitting there for many hours too. yuck!
Sometimes you go to a buffet and have countless options, however the food is bland. This was the opposite. There weren't as many options as other brunch spots, but the items were tasty. We had been meaning to come here for the Sunday Brunch for a while now and I'm glad we finally made it. It is great for families, friends, business, or couples. I went with my husband since our daughter spent the afternoon with her friend and we wanted some bottomless mimosas. Great spot if you are a local and would like to see some artifacts.
This was our first visit to the 94th. The food was excellent and huge portions. The décor, although a little tired, suited it's position at the end of the runway at Van Nuys airport. After lunch, we sat in the garden and watched the planes come and go. We will definitely go again
We were on the patio, right off the runway so sometimes the small jets waiting to take off were noisy, but we expected that!
The food was delicious but service a little spotty. We sat for quite awhile in the bar with no one speaking to us although a waiter served drinks to another table. We eventually learned there’s no service in the bar seating area, you go to the bar to order drinks. Don’t know why the waiter served the one table. Not a problem except no one said anything to explain.
Our waiter in the dining room was very personable and attentive and food was really delicious. It took a long time but we weren’t in a hurry so we relaxed, enjoyed a drink and appetizer (spinach artichoke dip), but we could have skipped that when we tasted the bread served with butter and pesto! OMG it was a nice treat! We also enjoyed watching the planes taxi down the runway which is what makes this place fun and unique.
When dinner was served it was hot and nicely prepared. My filet Mignon was tender and tasty. Others in our party had prime rib, fish & chips , and blackened chicken pasta - all delicious.
I definitely recommend this restaurant for the food, but only go if you can relax and let dinner take a awhile.
This place was great. I took my father here to celebrate his 60th birthday and he loved it. The host and waitress were great. They made this special occasion the best. I have come here before for compnay lunches and holiday parties. Just all around wonderful place.
Terrible service. Waiter was forgetful and slow. Did not have bottle of wine ordered. Waiter recommended another bottle and it was awful so much so it tainted part of the meal.
The food was mediocre and the service was terrible. We had the feeling that our waiter didn’t like us. The main dishes came 5 minutes after the appetizers arrived. We asked them to hold them but he delivered them anyway. It was my
Mothers birthday but they did not acknowledge it at all even though I reminded the waiter privately. The headphones for listening to the runways were all out of service as well. Overall poor experience we will not be back
Will be back, everything was good over all.
Dining on Easter at a restaurant can be iffy, so we were very pleased when we were seated promptly, greeted promptly by our server Kris and allowed to gorge on the decadent buffet options. They made Easter dinner painless and tasty!
Great food, great service (Recommend Rob), great brunch, and management does a great job as well
We just had Easter Brunch here, and had a great time. Great food options (buffet), great atmosphere, and our server, Rob was on top of everything, and always made sure we were taken care of. I just wish the price wasn't as high.
Came here for my husband's birthday. He was in the 94th Aero Squad at the Air Force Academy and we LOVED finding this little gem out in California! We flew here from base and immediatly got seated outside facing the runway. We spent the evening enjoying delicious food and watching many different planes take off. Loved the food and experience and we'll be flying back soon!
I've been eating here since I was a kid. I'm now 55 and still love this place!
Love the atmosphere, food, and service!
Always great, with the best customer service! Very friendly and accommodating....FANTASTIC LOYALTY PROGRAM TOO!
Have been dining here for years. The food has always been good and this visit was no exception. The main thing affecting my rating was the service. When going to a nicer restaurant I expect superior service. On my most recent visit, not only was the service not superior, it wasn't even average. The fact that I was dining at off ours (not a lot of people in the restaurant) should have resulted in better service, not inferior service.
Again, the food and atmosphere were very good. The service was only fair.
A fantastic meal with excellent service. The drinks were good and the place was very quiet. I truly enjoy coming here.
It’s one of the restaurants we can all agree on. We love the ambiance, and the food. We tend to go for Sunday brunch.
I have been there many time before. This time some of the food was cold. And where we were sitting was very noisy. The family we brought that was there first time. Usually everything is great. Not this time.
Service was very slow,
Food was just ok
We were with some friends
Next time we will choose better
My salad was floating in dressing, salmon was very good, cheesecake slice at dessert was too small and mediocre quality and waiter took forever attending to my needs throughout the meal. Then I waited a little more than 10 minutes awaiting the check from my waiter before giving up and asking for assistance from another staff member so that I could pay the bill and leave the restaurant. The building inside and out along with the WWII era music was quite nice though.
Really enjoyed the extensive variety of food in the Sunday brunch. Perfect for mixed groups where some don't like seafood (ME) and those who do. Nice atmosphere, especially if you can see the airport runway from your table.
First, the prime rib, and salmon was excellent! The service was slow, brought the wrong order, maybe just a busy evening for them. The parking lot is really dark, they should have valet parking again. They remodeled the restaurant, new photos, took down the old stuff, I personally liked the old ambience better. Old planes, etc. 2 people, dinner with two glasses of champagne, tip, $120.00.
First time visiting the restaurant and my expectations weren’t all that high. After all, it is adjacent to the Van Nuys airport, which is the main draw. So, I was very pleasantly surprised by the high quality of the food and the general quiet and enjoyable ambiance. Will definitely be coming back.
Always a great experience. Watching the planes and other things happening it the airport is an adventure.
We use to go with my family 18 years ago Food is not the same I have the worse eggs benedict, eggs running sauce no taste
A gem of a place located in an unlikely setting. The theme of the restaurant is interesting, 1940's WWII era including the music of the day. Nice place to visit.
Lovely winter day. Clear skies. Nice accommodating server. Good food, yummy drinks
We were celebrating our 63rd anniversary and advised as such when making the reservation. However on arrival and during and after our meal the occasion was never acknowledged. Most restaurants provide a dessert for this but not this time.
On Valentine's Day, there was a special menu. It was a little pricey, but included a flute of champagne and a dessert (cheesecake or something chocolate). The service was absolutely outstanding, and watching the activity at the airport next door at sunset was neat, Would definitely recommend this.
Great place for a romantic Valentine's Day dinner. We had a great table by the window and we saw a lot of plains land. The food was excellent! Yes, it was pricey but that's to be expected on Valentine's Day. Would definitely come back for another special occasion.
My Lady and I really enjoyed the decor, atmosphere, and the great service, It made our Valentine's Day a wonderful evening. We definitely need to let our family and friends know this restaurant is a nice place for dinner and drinks.
I ordered the shrimp scampi and it was served luke warm and raw. The server was nice and got me a new dish . Thanks
It would be hard to rate on food because we had a special menu for Valentines Day. They have a window view where you can watch planes land and takeoff, but it’s not noisy. All in all it was a nice evening
Great food in a unique setting! Nestled next to the runway at Van Nuys Airport, this chateau style building is teeming with aviation memorabilia from as far back as WWI. The skirt steak and pasta primavera were excellent. And the view from their dining room, bar, and fire pits on the patio can't be beat.
There was not a vegetarian dish available. The waiter told us "just order a salad- we may have something on the menu in 5 years."
This comment was a littl strange. All of the meals were good.
Celebrated my birthday at this favorite spot of mine. Always leave with a smile on my face.
Wow! I never write bad reviews, but others must be warned. Before going here I read a negative review about this place on yelp. The yelper said the decor was nostalgic but that didnt explain how dirty the restaurant was. The yelper also said the dishes were dirty and the food was bad. However since I had been to this place before, about 5 yrs ago, I decided to try it anyhow. Man, did I make a bad decision. There was dirt on the walls and the chair cushions were significantly stained. It seems like every coffee mug that I grabbed for coffee was dirty! So I opted to not have coffee. I ordered a glass of water and there was lipstick stains on the glass.. I don’t wear lipstick. The plates for the buffet were dirty I had to go through a stack of plates before finding a decent one. The food was bland and tasteless. Wow, for $45 pp it’s totally a disservice. I will NEVER go here again.
Fantastic place to meet friends the Sunday brunch surpasses expectations and the service is great
