Prime Rib "Bites"
Salmon Caesar Salad
Carved Roast Beef, Ham, Turkey and Lamb
We booked a 5PM dinner reservation online here for Fathers Day. Nothing online said it was going to be a buffet. When we arrived the entire staff was frazzled. They said we can find you a table but we haven’t had time to put a tablecloth on it so I hope that’s ok. We sat down and were told it was a bufffet so we walked over to the buffet and everything was picked over or missing. No roast beef left at the carving station, a dessert table with only crumbs from desserts that used to be there, plastic packaged store muffins, cold dry chicken Parmesan, empty fruit bowls, cold mashed potatoes, no clean plates and the list just goes on and on. The stations were a mess, no one there to keep them tidy or filled and everything that was supposed to be warm was cold. The dinner was so awful it became simply comical.
Don’t recommend their buffet, for the food variety doesn’t match price coast.
When I made the Fathers Day reservation it did not state anywhere on their website it would be a buffet only. First of all thought buffets finally went away with COVID, why is it back? 2nd the $60 each person amount was FAR TOO KUCH since there was NO food in the dumb candle warmed tins they had out, they were 80% empty. The food selection was NOT good either even had basically looking frozen taquitos, what the heck…wanted a sit down steak and dinner service. Very disappointed in this development for Father’s Day!!!
We came for Father’s Day brunch Buffett $60 per person. We had a 3pm reservation. We didn’t get seated until 3:36pm. The Buffett was 3/4 empty. They didn’t even have clean plates. 6-7 of waited for 10 minutes to have one.
They took forever refilling things. Many items and the desserts they ran out, so they just had a few options (for example a huge long table of desserts but only had 3 of the same thing once replaced: cheesecake tiramisu and flan). Cheesecake and tiramisu were still frozen.
Overall The Buffett options were limited. We aren’t big drinkers so we didn’t really get our money’s worth drinking alcohol and definitely not for the quality of food. No hot chocolate bar anymore. They had a lot of prepackaged items like yogurt, fruit cup, chips, crackers, packaged snacks and cookies.
They were out of chicken Parmesan, Mexican corn, scrambled eggs, and at least 3 other food options (I stopped looking at what I didn’t get to eat) for the 3 trips I made to the Buffett.
The first cut of prime rib that was served to me was dry and over cooked. I went for another piece and it was 25% better. The horseradish was spicy and good though. Crab legs were sitting in water and soggy. So was the shrimp.
There was salad but nothing to put on it but dressing (no veggies, toppings, croutons etc).
Tons of messes around the Buffett, dropped utensils, food droppings, crumbled cookies, and lots of eyesores.
They got my boyfriends omelet wrong (ham and tomato) he got ham and peppers. He ate it anyway.
Overall it was very disappointing and overpriced. We were hungry so we just ate what we could a d left. Our server was extremely nice though, and the staff seemed overwhelmed, so we didn’t wanna make a fuss as it was obvious that most of the people there were disappointed and we felt bad for the staff.
I feel bad for future customers so I wanna give a heads up, and feedback for future improvements for all.
I was looking forward to enjoying a nice slice of Roast Beef for Father’s Day but every time I went to the Carving station, they told me 10 more minutes. We waited an hour for our reserved table which didn’t bother me too much since this was the first brunch buffet we’ve been to since pre-Covid.
The Shrimp for the Shrimp Cocktail were raw, the omelette was over cooked, bacon soggy, and scrambled eggs runny. only Tiramisu out for dessert.
If it wasn’t for our server being awesome, this visit would have been a total fail. A lot of things can be overlooked but Raw Shrimp and no Beef in the Carving area is really unprepared.
Terrible experience, long waits after you had a reservation time, empty food trays, undercooked shirmp, frozen deserts, I understand that it was understaffed cause of COVID, but
They couldn’t keep up with people, this place was overbooked and sooo unorganized , never coming here again
Visited on fathers day 2021. Either they took more reservations than they should have, or they just were doing first come first serve, there were Tons of people having to wait up to 30 mins to be seated. Not a big deal, but don't accept reservations if you're not going to respect them. The staff was great and were working their butt off, but management obviously dropped the ball.
I was very unhappy with brunch this past Father’s Day. Nothing like two years ago. I will not return unless they make some serious changes to the menu and the ownership.
Father’s Day Brunch-Resturant opened 15 minutes late. Buffet line was rerouted and guests were not informed. Eggs Benedict- muffin was hard, egg was cold. Salmon was overcooked. Cold items were delicious (Salads and shrimp). Have loved this brunch in the past, feel like staff need to be retrained after the pandemic.
The service and the food were great. My wife says the french onion soup was the best she's ever tasted.
Great atmosphere and ambiance but the food quality and service were lacking
Prett cool interior, nice outdoor areas, food was meh, service meh.
Food and drinks were amazing like always. Such a great place to go for any occasion.
Looks of the place is great but the food took an hour to come and came at different times to the point where people were done before others got their food. Additionally the food was pricey and was not up to par.
Rated ambiance low due to a crowd of 8 at a table next to us, that drank way too much and were way too loud and inconsiderate of being in a public space with numerous other small parties, Except for that (maybe a one time thing?), the food was excellent, good sized portions, served hot, attentive service personnel. We had the salmon which was done perfectly, and I just love the creamed corn they serve.
I have been going there for over 12 years and this was the worst dinner I ever had there. The prime rib was fatty and overcooked and certainly not 8 ounces. Our server was training a new gal and they kept disappearing and we had to ask passing waiters for things.
I am so disappointed in the place. I do still love the atmosphere.
I will take me a while to get over this visit.
Portions were small, but the food was good. I liked the fresh fruit. Seating was limited, so it was quieter than normal, at least when I last went there before Covid. It made for a special ambiance with the setting right next to the airfield. We had a chance to easily take photos in the yard with a unique backdrop.
Wonderful place to enjoy a meal and learn a little about aviation history. Our waiter was great and helped make the meal very enjoyable. We will definitely be back again.
Quality of the food was generic. I had the seafood pasta. The pasta was very over cooked and it appeared the pasta water was used as the sauce for the dish. Very disappointing.
Been coming here for years. Love it
Food quality declined. Totally messed up order. 5 people and 3 had someone else’s items. Other 2 had items missing from order which other did not receive either. I’ve eaten at 94th Aero Squadron for ~40 years. More frequently when I lived in San Diego, now whenever visiting family. This visit was total disappointment.
Been here a number of times during the Buffett offerings and it was top tier. This time food took more than an hour, less than average. Not good - hope they figure it out and get back to normalcy.
We came for brunch with 6 people. The food was below average. The avocado toast had very little avocado and the slice of bread was small. The bagel with the lox was plain and not toasted, they forgot the tomato’s. We couldn’t sit outside because it was too cold. The noise level inside was very high, therefore the atmosphere wasn’t good. The service was okay, but hurried, the waiter kept forgetting things. I would recommend this restaurant only if the weather would permit to sit outside and maybe for Happy Hour or early dinner because the setting is very nice. We didn’t get a complimentary desert for the birthday queen, however, the waiter was made aware of the birthday.
Chris was an excellent server. Food and drinks were great as usual!
Celebrating a birthday and anniversary! Everything was perfect. My bagel was lightly burnt and my waitress swapped it for a new one before I even had a chance to ask
The food was awesome, good portion size, and our waitress was great.
Good and atmosphere always amazing! Staff friendly and attentive. Great visit every time!
I would not recommend.
Hostess was polite, professional, and informative… that’s where the positives stop.
Waitress took a very long time to see us the first time. She took a drink order, then didn’t see her for another ten minutes. Seemed an excessive amount of time to wait. When she did come back, she dropped off our bar drinks and walked off. We were trying to get her attention to order, but she didn’t make eye contact and apparently couldn’t hear us. We ordered … I ordered the 8oz filet with baked potato. Soup and salad arrived, but we saw in the menu there was supposed to be bread. Our meals made it, dropped by another gentleman. He didn’t know anything about bread. We watched all the tables around us get bread, so it was quite frustrating. My steak was crispy black on the outside, cooked properly on the inside, but there was a lot of grizzle and it wasn’t easy to eat at all. However, my loaded baked potato was mashed with no butter or sour cream or anything. Waitress didn’t come back until our meals were halfway through. We kept trying to get her attention. I asked about my potato, she said they ran out of baked potatoes and only had mashed. Our drinks were empty, so we requested another round. I also asked about the bread. She seemed annoyed and didn’t come back for a while and came back with two small rolls that were not warm. We once again waited forever for her to come back and we asked for the check and a little to go box.
For the expensive cost, it was an awful experience. I, personally, would never waste my money there again.
6:30pm on Saturday and no medium rare prime rib. Bar doesn't know how to make a Tom Collins cocktail. Crab cake appetizer was not prepared correctly and had no sauce with it. Salad was good. Garlic mash potatoes weren't mashed and had very big pieces of unmashed potatoes. They were served cold. Filet minion was good. Salads came before the appetizer and main course arrived two minutes later. I think the restaurant is having staffing issues and cutting costs to stay open. Very bad experience and taking 94th Aero Squadron out of my restaurant rotation.
Two of the four orders were wrong . One due to wrong entree in plate ( steak instead of salmon) the other no toppings on baked potato. Filet was barely warm on one order and lamb chops ordered med rare was med well. Server was polite and dinner was served promptly, but not correctly. ( as noted above). I have eaten there many times and even hosted my retirement party there several years ago. Last night was the worst experience I have had at your restaurant. Embarrifor me as I had dinner guests from out of town.
This was a fun and different experience, very much a mid-40's (WWII) vibe. Very unique and old memorabilia (it's everywhere; you need be able to appreciate all the old time souvenirs; if you don't, you may not like the look amd feel of this place). Food was pretty good, porterhouse was a little overcooked and the salmon was undercooked (sent back the fish and they did much better). Prices are in the moderate range (steak $42 and salmon was about $32). Good sized servings. We also got raspberry martinis, which were very tasty (but pretty small). The wait staff was attentive and friendly. We will definitely come back for this unique experience.
Our Aunt and Uncle were visiting us and we each had salads & Shrimp Scampi with Alfredo Fettuccine, side dish creamed corn, super yummy 😋 My husband had the amazing Crab Suffed Tiger Shrimp wrapped in bacon, along with French Onion Soup. Wonderful service, great drinks 🍸and interesting ambience. Lots of WWI pictures & memorabilia. Very cool 😎 Definitely worth the price, we will be back 😀
Everything was perfect! Food was amazing, outside area is so nice, and our server was outstanding. What a great experience for our first time meeting up after a year! I'm so happy I picked this place for a reunion.
I would definitely recommend 94th Aero Squadron. The food was delicious, the portions generous, and the atmosphere and service intiving.
The rib eye steaks were great and prepared to the right temperature! Steven, our server was great! The warm bread was nice! The Caesar salad was very average. The baked potato and the mashed potato were awful. The veggies were fresh and at the right tenderness, a little bland, they could have used some parsley or other fresh herbs. The cheesecake was nothing special, it was served with a raspberry sauce from a can? The sauce tasted artificial. The atmosphere sitting outside in the backyard facing the airfield and the music that the placed very softly was wonderful and romantic! I’ll be back just for the atmosphere!
After a year of being "stuck" at home due to COVID, met one of my cousins for dinner. My husband and I throughout our years in San Diego have celebrated many milestones (birthdays, anniversaries, etc.) at 94th Aero Squadron, and it was a staple in our diet pre-COVID. The menu, to our dismay, has been pared down quite a bit. Gone was our favorite appetizer--the fried zucchini--and we sorely missed it. Opted for the Early Flight dinners and my cousin thoroughly enjoyed his Salmon With Macadamia Pesto (I also was thrilled at the few bites he allowed me to try and should have ordered THAT!). My husband and I opted for the 6-ounce Prime Rib (used to be 8 ounces); I had the Vegetables and he chose French Fries. He had to ask for ketchup (!) and I found the veggies rather bland--no salt or other seasoning, or sauce to liven them up. My cousin chose Vanilla Ice Cream for dessert, I had the Rainbow Sherbet (always good) and my husband enjoyed a slice of cheesecake (for $1 more) with raspberry sauce. Both of us requested our meat Medium...it came rather overcooked and dried out. Plus the price had gone up a little. All in all, it felt good to get out of the house, but we wondered if the meal matched the now price of $30.
Disappointing. No nearly as good as it used to be.
We were late for our reservation, No problem. Food was great, service was great. A fun place to dine.
The host was great. So thoughtful with my granddaughter. Our server was extremely helpful and friendly. This beautiful restaurant was relaxing and a wonderful first time experience. The food and cocktails were on point and delicious. We will be back again.
We had a nice brunch for my sons college graduation! Food was Amazing! Service was spectacular! Drawing a blank on our servers name but he was awesome! Definitely going back!!!
