All the food was cold. We went for Sunday brunch. No one seems to care that the heating elements were off, only to the extent of noticing but not doing anything to rectify. Granted we arrived before last seating which is 3 pm, it doesn’t mean they should turn off all the warmers or check on them. We didn’t say anything until after we paid, didn’t want to seem like we were looking for handouts but I wish we said something sooner so partly our fault. The quality of food was also lacking but we were determined to get our time and money worth. Our waitress was great though! She was really nice.
We love 94th Aero Squadron! I proposed to my bride of 40 years here and we love to come back on our anniversary and tell our story to the staff. The restaurant is themed very nicely as a WWI Squadron in Europe, lots of aircraft and fly boy memorabilia yet they preserve the elegance and service of a very nice restaurant.
Great staff, ambiance, food and drink. Fun to be had by all. A hidden San Diego gem!! Enjoy!!
Very friendly and courteous staff. Had to send an item back because of a mistake and not only did they do it with no fuss I got a replacement item within a minute.
Aesthetic of the place is above and beyond. Highly recommend and I will be returning again.
Service is always outstanding. Food was great prior to COVID, was a bit underwhelming after first reopening, but our meals and drinks were excellent last night. Kris and the rest were super attentive. They redid the backyard patio - looks so charming! Will be back soon for a patio brunch!
It was pretty pricey for what was offered. The bacon strips were resting in a puddle of grease. They need to be on a rack with holes to keep the grease drained while keeping them warm. The snow crab legs were very tiny. The salmon was over cooked. The cream cheese for the bagels was placed in thick slices around the smoked salmon and was awkward to get the desired portion size. The cooked to order omelet was delicious.
The deserts were okay. The sauce toppings for the ice cream were almost out and took some work to shake down and squeeze enough to make a difference. The meringue cookies were clearly from Costco.
The staff was friendly. It took a while after we were finished to get our check. There appeared to be no one around to summon.
We got seated where I asked. Chris our server was always making sure we had our champagne and water. He was quick to get the dirty plates. Very courtious. The food was fresh and a lot of choices, even for the kiddos if you bring them. Overall enjoyed our brunch.
Went to the Sunday buffet, towards the end. It's a typical buffet, with crab legs. We skipped the champagne, but that would have helped.
The food was pretty dry and had been out for a while.
Chris our waiter provided excellent service! Chris was friendly, attentive and polite.
What more could a customer ask for. Thank you, Chris. Restaurants need more waiters like you.
Ambience very nice and easy for us to have conversation. Enjoyed our New Year's dinner with you.
We had a wonderful meal with great service. My Husband had the Salmon. He said it was one of the best restaurant Salmon He's ever had, it was cooked perfectly. Everyone enjoyed their meal.
Very nice restaurant but too expensive on the meats.
Best champagne brunch in San Diego.
It is a beautiful restaurant with great atmosphere and decor. However the food was similar to a college cafeteria, most of the trays were empty and some things were no longer available at all. We had a 4:30 seating and upon inquiry were assured that all the food and everything would be available past 5 o’clock, that was just for the seating times. Our waiter was very friendly and helpful, however The seating hostess was rude, and the price was completely exorbitant for the quality overall. For four people the total bill was over $500, we have since gotten meals of better quality for less than $200.
Went for the Christmas buffet. It was great!
We were there for Christmas Day and the only option was a $70 buffet. It was good but 2 vegetarians couldn't make that meal worth $140+ tip
Great buffet. Lots of desserts.
Not as many options as in the past but it was also less crowded. Guests were limited to one glass of a not great champagne. Staff members were awesome.
The buffet was absolutely delicious. So many different choices and they also offered gluten free items. It was probably the best buffet I've been to. The staff were so friendly and the lady who was our server was phenomenal. Had an amazing time !!
Do you really want to know??? We have enjoyed the 94th for several years on Christmas Eve so expected another fond memory to come with this year. Our first clue of what was to happen should have been the parking lot, it was totally unkept with weeds and growth abundant. No matter,we knew the experience inside would make up for it, NOT.
We were seated snd ordered a drink and then ordered dinner. Neither my wife and I have large appetites so we generally split a meal which is accepted by the 94th as the say so on they menu with a stipulation of a $10 additional charge.
Unfortunately thus is where the experience went in the “can”. The server became less than helpful suggesting that we would not be satisfied as the meal could not be cooked yo both preferences. Wr said ok and ordered the prime rib medium rare. We also ordered two glasses of a Paso Robles wine to be served with the meal and were told that it might nut be the right wine and another lesser quality wine was suggester, unfortunately, we allowed our choice to be changed.
Now to really bad part. We waited 40 minutes fir our meal to be delivered and guess what, it wasn’t medium rare it was well done. Yo me and mire more generous wife, we were messed with by this waiter and his servers. The folks at the table just in front of us were seated well after is and received their drinks and appetizers well before our meal. Obviously our meal while possibly cooked properly was left to age under the hot lights and tasted like it had. Yes er could have sent it back snd waited another extended time with, what better results, already a disturbed waiter (smaller $$ order)NOT.
Instead we, indulged the food and asked for the manager to come to the table and explained the above. She was very gracious and actually did the right thing and took the horrid meat off our bill. We paid for our drinks and left, unfortunately for the 94th, our last time. Good bye to previously fine experiences,m.
We had been there several times and was great. This time food was just warm and we waited quite awhile. Only one server. Sorry, but we won’t return. All this for 2 people. $125.00 + tip.
Christmas Eve Dinner was wonderful!
94th Aero Squadron is our go to place for Christmas Eve. We made reservations as soon as they were available. My only complaint was we were seated in what was the bar area. No holiday decorations like in the rest of the restaurant. Felt like we were sitting at the "kids table"
I don’t think it was a good idea to give me a reservation at 7:30 if they close at 8. I assumed they close at 9 or 10. For a fine dining experience you don’t want to feel like the workers are trying to close down while you’re eating. It gives the feeling of being rushed. I wanted to treat myself and when I do I enjoy taking my time. I absolutely love this place but I wish I had a chance for a do-over at an earlier time. Example is I asked for more bread and he said it has all been thrown out already.
We had family in from out of town that wanted to dine at 94th Aero Squadron.. We all had a wonderful experience because both the food and service were great!
the buffet was amazing. The noise level was very loud but we dealt with it because everything wa
We came here for my husband's 60th birthday celebration with our two adult children and our closest friends. On the website, the restaurant displays incredible ambience, however, inside we were taken to the very back of the building to a rustic table with very uncomfortable wooden chairs. Drink orders were disappointing, the steaks were less than desirable, one order's side took over 10 minutes to arrive, and even after requesting something special for my husband's birthday when I called to confirm that day, the waiter did not bring the complimentary desert with a candle to the table. This may sound petty to anyone reading this, but we laid down over$450.00 for this special meal that fell well below our expectations.
Best place for business and personal. Have been coming to this restaurant since 90s. I would say nothing change much, well me. The uniqueness of itself makes this place stand out.
Great food, friendly staff and a great view. Will definitely be back
Took my husband for dinner, our waitress was excellent and we had a lovely evening.
It was lovely on the patio. Clearly short-staffed and over-priced.
It was a special Birthday celebration and everything was perfect. I was good to be back at 94th Aero Squadron. I'm sure we will come again.
Even though we’ve had a good experience in the past 10 years, it is now two years in a row that we were not able to be seated for Thanksgiving buffet. This year we had a reservation for 6 pm and waited an hour to be seated only to find out the buffet main dishes were empty, and we couldn’t be guaranteed any fresh food would be made for us, so we left and ate elsewhere. I believe the 2 hour maximum they claimed to say they were strictly enforcing was not followed and I also believe they over extended themselves with reservations. Very disappointed again. The hostess was gracious but she was not honest about how much food was left to eat. We had to hear it from patrons who were leaving the restaurant and laughing because they knew there wasn’t enough food for us…2 groups of people especially were commenting as they left the restaurant to the people who were still waiting in line to check in for their reservation. I’m not sure we will be trying to eat there in the future, especially on a holiday.
Awesome food and great service
Tried to go for Thanksgiving. Truly chaotic experience. Don't reserve your table with OpenTable. They won't get it. Understaffed and unable to control the massive crowd who all had reservations. I was actually going to tip the poor woman at the front until she was incredibly insensitive and dismissed me without even trying.
Do not eat here. Good food, terrible planning.
This was a poorly planned event. It was a mob scene. People waited more than an hour after their reservation time to be seated. They were continually out of food servings and what was out was cold. Very very disappointing and no worth what they charged!
I have been going to the 94th Aero Squadron since the 1980's. The food is good and the Atmosphere is unique and fun. BUT, , The new owners have eliminated limits on the number of reservations people can make. When we arrived at 5:00 for the Thanksgiving buffet, There was no parking and there were over 100 people milling around the parking lot with reservations. Most of them didn't get fed. THIS IS THE NEW COMPANY POLICY! There wasn't enough food at the buffet and and new trays delivered from the kitchen were descended upon immediately by hungry people standing there waiting. The staff was trying to do their best but they were just as unhappy. Hopefully someone else will buy the restaurant before these idiots totally destroy it. It's still a great venue but now there is one great flaw.
We went for Thanksgiving buffet dinner. Absolutely no parking should have been the first warning. We had a reservation for 5:15 PM and when we checked in we were told it would be 45 minutes, unless we wanted to sit outside. It was chilly and windy so we decided to wait. An hour later we went to check in again and we finally were led to a table. Our waitress was trying her best to be pleasant as she brought us our glasses of warm champagne, but you could immediately see they were terrifically short-staffed.
We went to the buffet, and there was nothing left. All the steam trays were empty. After hanging around eventually more food came out, a bit at a time, but everyone descended on each tray like a pack of wolves. Definitely not a relaxed and enjoyable experience. In the end we did did get enough to eat, but at $60 a head you shouldn't have to fight for your food.
Had a reservation for Thanksgiving at 4:30. Had to wait half an hour for our table. We were seated at a table outside, by the fire, which was very nice. At the buffet, the Turkey was in an awkward place, away from the rest of the food. Most of the food items were not replenished, and were gone. Then we heard staff talking negativity about the patrons at the restaurant, which we found unprofessional. Usually 94th is reasonably priced. This year we found it very expensive. For the money I think we'll go elsewhere next holiday.
Have never had a dining experience this bad. Arrived 25 minutes prior to reservation. Was seated 45 minutes after reservation; was told that if I wanted to sit outside, I could get in faster. A sign out front said they were not taking walk-ins, only those with reservations. However, once inside it was obvious they were grossly short-staffed to the point where the tables were not being bussed and once we got our initial drinks, we did not see anyone again unless we physically went to find someone. At least half of the buffet serving trays were empty at any one time. Never saw a manager walking the floor and getting things done like I do at other restaurants. One time when looking for someone, there were two employees looking at a couple of empty tables saying there was allot of people dining outside so they might have to move the tables out there. It took over twenty minutes to find our waitress and get our bill to pay and leave, which was just after closing time. There were still people waiting in line to get in to eat.
This was not my first time eating at 94th Aero Squadron, but it is the last.
During previous visits my only complaint was that they packed everyone in like sardines, but that was before COVID times.
The food was cold and the soda machine was out. I watched them seat people and when they got up to go get their food, the hostess kept giving their tables away. It was a waste of money and I will not be going back.
