94th Aero Squadron - San Diego Ratings and Reviews
Arrived early for the $23 meals, but decided to order from the full menu. The ambiance is "previous World Wars" outdoors are a biplane & WWI ambulance. Tables provide privacy if wanted and the view of the airfield is nice. Oh yes, the food & service were wonderful!
We are not usually in that neighborhood so taking the opportunity to eat there was a commitment to driving. Fortunately by eating lunch there we were able to avoid most of the traffic. While not buffet enthusiasts, their selection of fresh food was delightful and lured us in. The spinach zucchini soup was fabulous and the various salads were crisp and fresh. Our server, Penny, was friendly and efficient. We enjoyed the ambience and were delighted to hear that on some days they have live music and dancing. We will definitely be back.
I asked water with lemon as my drink. I got a onion lemon water. Onion?!? In iced water? Not a subtle onion taste but a STRONG onion taste with the hint of lemon.
Next, we did an appetizer, its combination platter, a mix of crab stuffed mushroom, calamari, zucchini and potato skins. Everything was good. Piping hot. So we ordered the early flight dinner. Its choice of soup or salad, choice of prime rib, top sirloin, parmesan crusted chicken and selected fish, choice of mashed potato, vegetables, rice pilaf. Plus dessert and coffee or tea. So, we thought it was a very good deal and we ordered the early flight dinner. We both got prime rib, he got veggies, I got mashed potato. We both got iced tea and for our dessert, its rainbow sherbet. Main course was ok. Its not bad its not amazingly good. Ate sherbet. At my last. Spoonful of sherbet, I felt inside my mouth something weird, feels grainy, so I spit it out. There is like peanuts on my sherbet. My Fiance, who was, looking at me was asking what's going on. I told him I thought I broke my tooth because I felt something chunky in my mouth. And its peanuts. Mind you that both of us ordered the same dessert. If its part of the sherbet, then he would've gotten it as well. Then... The cherry on top... I saw a gnat/bug/ant on my spoon on my last bite of the dessert. Really... This is nightmare hellick restaurant... Now.. The check comes... They billed us for the iced tea. Server stated, its coffee and hot tea only that comes with the dinner. We didn't argue but when we got home we checked their menu. It doesn't say it has to be hot tea... It says coffee or tea. With this appalling situation, I think 1 star is more than enough rating. If I can give out zeroooooes I would!!!!
It was lovely to sit outside and enjoy dinner until all these people started standing around our table drinking. So much for a peaceful dining experience. They should make the right side of the outside for dining only and those that are coming for happy hour and not eating should strictly be on the left. It was very disappointing!
My sister and I just had dinner here tonight on our way home from the San Diego Civic Theatre. We decided to come here since its along our way home, and the great reviews on Open Table. We definitely were not disappointed! The atmosphere was very nice, with military memorabilia, and of course the planes outside! The staff are very friendly and nice, and the food was great! Would definitely recommend this place! I will be coming back for sure.
Took a party of 8 for Brunch for a birthday.
Did the early bird special which was fairly crowded.
Brunch line tapered off after 10 which is end of early bird special.
Good selection of food and good quality. Not much waiting before restocking lines.
We would do it again.
We had an awesome brunch for my husband birthday, came on time and we just seated right away by the patio w/c I stated when I made the reservation. My friends say that the place is nice and even ask how did I find the place since were all first timer. The waitstaff are all attentive to our needs. Will definitely be back.. thank you 94th Aero Squadron Staff, we made our brunch experience an unforgettable one.
This place has been a Friday night hotspot for as long as I can remember. It's relatively easy to get dinner reservations but because of the party going on in the bar, sometimes parking is a challenge. The food is good and the noise pretty much stays in the bar area.
Had a great evening. Our food was quite good (we've been here before so we got our usual choices). Celebrated an anniversary with some champagne and a complimentary dessert. Our waitress was great and very accommodating. It was a nice plus to watch the planes land on the strip next to the restaurant.
We went for dinner because we'd seen it and been interested in the name and the building (replica of an old French farm house). The people were great, the food was good, and the restaurant backs up to an end of a small airport. There are even headphones to let you listen in on the control tower when plans land or take off.
It's unique and cool. If you're in the area and looking for something that's not your run of the mill restaurant, give it a try!
Made us wait over 1 hour to serve our food. Waitress kept stating that our food would be served once the bigger group sitting next to us was served, not the answer we were looking for. The restaurant can definitely improve their AC. A waiter that was out servicing out table made this a not so bad experience, we wish he would have been our server. Probably will not come back.
Excellent meal, enjoyed by all. But please note that our waitress, "Cheryl" (sp?), was outstanding and very much the reason for our enjoyment! The staff overall were kind, professional and worked to ensure we all had a great time. Thank you...we will see you all again soon!
The dinner is to celebrate a birthday as indicated on the reservation with OpenTable. But the birthday person was not offered a slice of cake nor were we asked if we wanted to order any dessert, while the table across was offered a slice of cake for the birthday person and asked whether they wanted desserts. Why different treatments? We went to another place for desserts afterward!
