94th Aero Squadron - San Diego
We showed up for our reservation only to be told during arrival that the restaurant was closed and won’t be open for 30 days.
Great spot to brunch with friends
Always a great place for dinner. The food is always top notch. Can't beat the ambiance. We have been going here for birthday dinners and special occasion dinners for over 20 years. We will continue to go. Oh, and the sunday brunch.... the best brunch in San Diego hands down.
Took FOREVER for our dinner. Waitress was very nice and comped my wine. I put the fault on management.
The service was the best part of the event. We participated in the buffet and found the beef to be dry.
The creamed corn was fabulous!! Nice little restaurant- convenient to central SD. Would recommend if you’re staying in the area.
The food was good for the price. The service was just ok. You have to ask the server for ketchup. The last time I ate there you could get your own orange and cranberry juice. Now you have to ask the server and the cups they give it in are probably 4 or 6 oz. We had to ask for juice over and over again.
It was good, the food is great!
Came here for dinner with my family. Also, my son was craving the French onion soup from here and had to have it! Food was very tasty as usual and service was amazing!!
Had an enjoyable dinner, served by Chris with excellent service. Started with a house salad w/Bleu cheese drsg. My companion and I had the 10 oz New York strip and it was cooked perfectly just the way we ordered it. Juicy and tasty. Accompanied by a baked potato with all the 'fixings' and a side of creamed corn, ( House specialty). For desert we shared a creamy, smooth and delicious Creme Brulee.
Will definitely be back!
We met some friends who drove down from LA and we had a delightful lunch. Service was excellent, food was ample and delicious and fairly priced. Server keep our iced tea glasses filled and didn't rush us to leave.
We enjoyed the early dinner special from 4-6pm which is offered on many days. The dinner options were ones that we liked (sirloin and prime rib) and the value was great. Our waiter was outstanding and he actually lived near us in North County so we chatted about our neighborhoods. We were able to explore the restaurant grounds and enjoyed the ambiance. Can’t wait for our next visit.
The food was average. The crab legs tasted old and smelled funny. Watch your order at the made to order pasta and omelettes. He gave my order to another lady and her order had shrimp in it and i’m allergic.
The quality of food and service has definitely gone down since last I dined here (over 2 years ago). The butter dish was dirty the first time bread was brought to the table 🤢 and it included a lemon seed the second time bread was brought to the table 🤔 (the third time was ok - but by then I was afraid to eat the bread & butter). The meal was fine - nothing wrong, but nothing outstanding. The service left room for improvement: the water was never refilled, we were never asked if we wanted additional drinks. Lastly, I clearly marked on my reservation that we were celebrating a belated birthday. It was confirmed by the hostess when I first checked in. However, the server never asked or indicated that a celebration was happening - no cake, not even a cupcake or a candle in the ice cream. 🙁
Charming environment. Excellent service!! Accommodated us with a window table. Sunday brunch was very crowded with good reason. Excellent food! Excellent selection’ again excellent service.
Highly highly recommend.
Definitely make reservations.
While we have always enjoyed our time at the 94th. We have noticed recently that the restaurant is chilly than normal. There did not appear to be a warm spot the last three times we have been there for dinner in the evening. I wish they would look at the comfort level and warm the place up a little bit more.
Consistently produces a tasty meal, great ambience and service.
It is sad to feel obligated to write a negative review!! In submitting this review, I hope to alert the owner, management and personnel working during our unpleasant dining experience that they have a big problem. No one bringing guests to your establishment expects what we endured. I assure you our two guests thought less of us for suggesting we should go to your restaurant for a meal in the aviation atmosphere. The service provided by the waitress and busboy was slow or delayed for reasons not explained. Burnt and or cold are not good examples of quality food preparation or presentation. I doubt this review will be seen by other potential customers, who need to know what to expect regarding poor service and quality of food being served at your establishment. I know I will not subject any of my friends or associates to a repeat performance. Customers lost. Bill & Carol
We've been here a number of times, but this was a disappointment! The service was slow since they were short on servers. My NY steak was suppose to be medium rare, but was well done. It took some time to get the server's attention to get it changed. By the time he returned with a new steak, we were ready to leave.
Went here for Brunch (been before many times). Food this time was really good and everything was fresh. When this place is less than 75% full, it's actually a really nice brunch. If it there are more people dining that though, it gets real tight and the cook staff can't replenish the food fast enough.
Anniversary of 12 years with my husband ...
The choices of food and desserts...AMAZING!! With 4 kids raging from 8-15, everyone was very happy with their meals! After a full belly, we were able walk around outside and enjoy the beautiful weather as well. Wellbe back for sure!!!
We made reservations for the early rate and were seated late and charged full price. We checked in for our 9:45 reservation at 9:30! Lame.
Have not been to the 94th Aero Squadron in over 10 years and was happy to see it was exactly the same. What you may think looks "kitschy" in terms of decor is pulled off really well. We went for Sunday brunch and there was a lot of different offerings to choose from. Best of all, our waitress was fantastic and very attentive.
Fantastic Valentine's, for the 3rd year in a row! Great prix fixe menu, or a la carte options if you choose. Friday night was also a great pick for dinner because we got into the dance club for free and it was a BLAST. Great music, vibes, and a wide diversity of people having a good time. We will be back!
Wonderful Valentines Menu - Special for two was excellent
Valentines day at this store is a family tradition. Good food with good service.
I have had a pleasant experience in the past while dining here. However, the valentines day menu was a bit underwhelming(1 12oz prime rib--split, 1 lobster tail each, and 2 bacon wrapped shrimp) $120
Recommend for the motif and home cooked foods, although pretty rich. The servings were small, and not what you would expect if you spend 30 per plate, then add appetizer, then add drinks, a couple could easily drop 100. There is better value elsewhere
We arrived on time for our 6pm reservation for 3 people. I had requested a table by the window but they had not reserved one for us and the hostess said we’d have to wait at least 20 minutes for one, so we elected to take another table across from the window seats. A server brought us water but no one came to take our drink order for 15-20 minutes after we were seated. We were going on another 20 minutes after receiving our drinks before my husband finally had to stop the waiter before he passed by a third time to tell him he had not yet taken our food order. He apologized for the delay, took our order and our entrees did come out in a reasonable amount of time. I had requested a gluten-free menu for my mother-in-law in my reservation and indicated we were there for her Birthday but they had no such separate menu (our waiter kept having to go to the kitchen to check with the chef about items she wanted), and there was no Birthday dessert offered to her either, as is customary. On a positive note, our entrees were prepared as requested and were all quite good. Start to finish, the three of us were there 2-1/2 hours! Loved the WWI decor and would like to try going back another time but leary of having a similar experience.
This was the first time I had the waitress not refilling my glass. The guy I had on my birthday last year was amazing.
I had reservations for 6:30 and was told they were a bit behind and we could go to the bar and wait no more than a half hour. After 45 minutes I went out and asked what was up. The hostess stated they were still behind and she would come get us (she was pleasant the whole time). She finally came into the bar and got us about 7:30. Once seated our server was awesome but service was super slow. There were gaps that became awkward. When all was said and done, we didn’t end up leaving until almost 9:30.
Now granted it was Saturday night and I truly wasn’t in any rush as we were celebrating my youngest sons engagement. I’m normally pretty low maintenance but the service was was awkwardly slow. That being said the food was phenomenal which made things a bit better.
All in all, I’ve been to 94th Aero Squadron numerous times over the years, and this is not the norm. Hopefully it was just a bump in the road but figured it was worth sharing. We really love the ambiance and the food has always been delicious however, I may second guess doing anything there to celebrate a special occasion, especially on a Saturday evening.
The restaurant is quite quaint and unique. The service very slow, waited over 20 min just for drinks, and the place was not busy. The food ok, nothing to write home about. Guess it was worth one trip but probably would not go back
My son’s 18th birthday, and all was very nice. I think they were a little short on servers that night, but nothing to complain about. A good time was had by all!
I attempted to order 2 different whiskeys that were on the menu. They couldn't find either. I finally found one they had. The waitress wasn't all that friendly either. It took quite a while for her to come back to take our order. The order took quite a while to get and getting the check took a long time. It wasn't even that crowded but took a long time every step of the way. I'd probable go back, but go to the bar and order appetizers.
We came to San Diego to visit our Navy son....and always stop at this restaurant. ❤️
It was really a nice and vintage place
We had a lovely brunch at 94th Aero Squadron on Sunday. Food was outstanding, great variety of lunch?brunch selections, sparkling wine was plentiful. We'll be back!
Fresh food wonderful ambiance, out Champagne Glasses never hit halfway.. Our server was awesome. We thought since Superbowl the crowd would be large but we went at a great time!
Our server, Michael was exceptional. Made my birthday celebration superb. Good choices, great parking and do ha e the beer cheese soup!
