About 9 Bean Rows Restaurant

The 9 Bean Rows restaurant opened in 2013 and is located in the Historic Firehouse in Suttons Bay, Michigan. Nic and Jen wanted to create a gathering place with a warm, communal atmosphere, good food, and good drinks. The restaurant offers a menu that is truly farm-to-table, with fruits and vegetables directly from the 9 Bean Rows farm, as well as other farms in the area; bread, desserts, and pastries from our bakery; and Michigan-raised meats. The food is simple, flavorful, and – because it uses what’s available locally each season – ever-changing.

Visiting from out of town for a wine festival, and came back after having an incredible experience last year! This place has incredible food, service and wine list.

I'm not sure why this place gets good reviews. The food was just ok--not memorable and certainly not worth the drive. Risotto was not made with the appropriate rice so wasn't creamy. Service was rushed--we weren't finished with our starters and entreés were dropped. Tiramisu (what year are we in 1986?!) and sorbet were only two dessert offerings on a chilly fall day in an area filled with apple orchards. Not the farm-to-table experience I'd been expecting. Disappointing.

Food was delicious. Beet salad, mushroom risotto..delicious. Bread on table would have been nice.

We live in Milwaukee and enjoyed 9BR three years ago when we were in the area .We decided to return to 9 bean row again, even though we heard from some locals the chef changed and it was not as good as it previously was. Keri our server was amazing!!! Keri made the experience awesome even more than the great food. The chef did a great job and nothing could have been better. We really enjoyed our dining experience and we are sure 9BR will make the most discriminating diner happy. Ask for Keri, she is awesome!
